TK, let me just toss a thought out there. Again, I'm not neccessarily against this change, but here is an alternate idea.
#1. Make all of our colors available to everybody. Anybody could paint their droid the way they want.
#2. Tie your Droid Customization skill to how long the color lasts when using a kit (not the first paint.)
This would keep customization still sort of important, yet make Kits more desireable at the same time. Also by putting thus change in the publish or update notes, it would get the word out about them, since many people don't realize they are for 50 calls.
I 100% agree with 200 calls for vehicles, they get "called" at LEAST 4 times as often as droids.

I think the color kits would be MUCH more popular if we could get some decent results. The Surgical Chassis can be the "role model" by which all other droids should be judged. It gets the coolest colors and they look awesome (I made one with a teal torso and black appendages....awesome). Unlike the Protocol, which looks like crap. It seems that on most droids, the color you choose is "layered" over the basic color, so its not a true repaint....just a this color shift that looks like....well....crap.
I was hoping we could see this thing fixed. A true, BLL quality RED Protocol would be very cool. Or Green, or blue, etc...
This sort of change would go a LONG way farther in making the color kits more attractive.

It sounds that way...but do not quote me on that./forcepersuade The RealTK421You must tell us everything you know about JTL droids. Post below.
That only works on the weak-minded, remember?
Respectfully,
It's the hair. Wookie fur is resistent to Jedi mind tricks. Also, with just one can of hair spray, it becomes an effective armor. You'll have to shave the wookie before you can extract any information out of him.

I have to disagree with those who are upset about this potential change. I can't remember the last time I sold a droid customization kit or a vehicle customization kit. When the vehicle kits first came out, everybody wanted one -- and when they realized that they would have to continuously reapply the colors, they stopped buying them and stopped customizing their bikes. I've had a similar situation with my droid customers.
On Sunrunner, at least, you see very very few custom-colored vehicles, and all-white R3 droids are running around everywhere. I think the change is great, and actually think I'd sell more kits if the colors lasted longer.

Also you might get more peoplee asking you to color thier droids for them since you get more color options

I don't think anyone is upset about thechange, we're just discussing the economic impacts. If we are to get some help with a "consumable" item, let's try to make the most of it for everyone.
Perhaps 100 calls would be better forthe averageDE. Maybe that would help those that don't sell any and would make less of an impact on those that do.

Droid users (some) do want this. Some Vehicle people do too.
I'm a DE. And a I want it. Largely because my alt is sick to death of having to repaint her combat droid every other day. It's just annoying (I feel the same way about vehicles).
It doesn't matter to me how its going to affect sales of the kits. It will make customers happier with their droids either way. And it's droids that I want to sell. I don't really want to sell droid accessories that people wish they didn't have to buy in the first place.

That may be the best statement on this that I've seen so far...

People won't have to wish they had to buy paint kits (due to short decay times)...now they can have their cake and eat it too.
We'll just have to keep an eye on this issue to see how it affects things and we can work to have it adjusted from there.
For now, I suspect we are all best off to remember the old addage:
"Don't look a gift horse in the mouth."

I don't see how making a disposable product less disposable is "love"...and since it already was at 50 uses I don't think some huge new client base is coming in over it.

But to a big-time industrialist type like you, AO, that shouldn't matter......right?
I mean, it's not as if you will be hurt or helped at all, one way or another. As you've seen in this thread, there are folks (DE and maybe non-DE alike) that do/did want this change.
So....it happened.
What number would you have picked, had you been asked?
