Thread: Surprise! DE love...you knew I had to get some!!

No, especially since I don't sell the darn things in the first place. I leave that up to newer DE's. And those newer DE's are not going to be helped by this increase - if anything, I believe it will reduce their volume. More uses means less units sold, right?
I mean, it's not as if you will be hurt or helped at all, one way or another. As you've seen in this thread, there are folks (DE and maybe non-DE alike) that do/did want this change.
I'm sure there are. Wasn't my point. My point is, I don't see the "love", I see a bit of attention given to a topic that certainly isn't one of our top issues. Get them to name talking droids after a more than a year of being broken - then you can call it "love". I see this as a 75% reduction in the sales of droid customization kits. I do not believe there are tons of people just waiting to buy them because 50 uses wasn't enough. Those that care about droid color already bought the kits, increasing the yield of them in this case isn't going to produce a new customer base.
So....it happened.
What number would you have picked, had you been asked?
I would have left it at 50. I think it's more than adequate. It's a nice balance between functionality and value. Thanks for asking.

Not if there is some number of potential DE owners that don't use droid due (in part) to the 'yuckiness' of the paint situation. That argument against owning a droid has now been removed.
And..I'm not speaking anecdotally here. I have personally experienced some number of sales lost specifically due to the fact that a person couldn't have a droid that stayed painted for awhile.

And I tend to think you made a pretty large assumption there..."those that care about droid color already bought the kits". Some people just decided not to buy either the paint or the droid. Now they have reason to purchase without this being an issue.

If it looks like this doesn't work out, we can always go back.
Incidentally, when they asked me...I told them I thought 100 would be adequate. I can only suppose that droid paint, vehicle paint and (perhaps) ship paint are all tied to the same system and they wanted a new baseline. /shrug
Respectfully,
TK, if someone ever didn't buy a droid they wanted or needed because of color, they are just silly. It may be true, but it is also truethere people who don't wash behind their ears because they can't see back there. The world amazes me every day. But if someone didn't buy a droid for that reason, they obviously didn't need it very much which is an entirely different issue.
I simply said above I do not see this as "love", nor do I think it's going to help the situation any for lower-level DE's who make money from these kits by reducing the amount they sell by 75%. Even if those silly people suddenly buy droids because of this (I'm giving you the extreme benefit of the doubt), there is no way the customer base is going to expand four-fold. Do the math, TK. Do you think that four times as many people are suddenly going to buy these? And that's just to make up for the lost sales, not an increase at all.
You have your opinion, I have mine - but we all know what side your bread is buttered on, so forgive me if I don't see you as awfully objective. You lost that trait long, long ago.

Do I like this change? Sort of.
What number would I pick up? 0. The Idea of color fading itself is stupid, not fun, not helping business. Increase the number will only turn something stupid to something we can live with, but still stupid.
Is this love? hum, no.
Meaningfull stats on droids, skills requirement, no color fading at all, AR1 on combat droid, Naming humanoid droids, Item storage in surgical, fixing the maintenance module that was introduced in APRIL and never worked, 75% damage reduction in PvP,....
That would be love.
It's like you complain to your house owner that the pipes have big holes, the electric system doesn't works, there are rats in the basement, a part of the roof is missing and the only answer you have is :
We'll change the color of the walls, doesn't that show how we love you? Should be enough for this year...

Heya, all...
A quick head's up.
Droid Customization (Paint) kits will be getting increased so that they last for 200 calls.
Yes, I said 200.
There is NO ETA on this (so please, don't ask for one). It may be tomorrow, it may be 6 months from now. I do not know.

Respectfully,
Something I didn't notice until I made a couple droids this week on TestCenter....it's not *just* the kits that got the raise to 200....the initial paint on the call of the droid also lasts 200 as well.
[Edit: P.S. ...after talking with Drashk tonight, we realized this really did *just occur* in the last day or so.]
