I have a friend that I made a Surgical droid for and when I made it I threw in a spare sarcastic personality chip. A few days after I sold it to him I was asking him how he liked his new droid:

Me: So how is that new droid working our for you?

CU: It is working great thank you.

Me: Your welcome.

CU: Only thing about this droid though is that I dont think it likes me?

Me: What do you mean you dont think it likes you?

CU: Well every time I pull it out he says some snide comment. Last night when I pulled him out he said "Oh its you. What do you want?" Today when I pulled him out in the medical center he said "Can I help you? Of courseI would rather not help you but I ama droid and have no choice but to do what you tell me".

This guy was so serious when he told me about this but I could not keep from laughing out loud while he told me the other things this droid said to him. All I could say back through my tears of laughter was "At least the personality chips apear to be working for a change".

LOL these have to be some of the funniest thinsg i have heard as a DE. Sad... but very funny.

I hate having to spend time explaining things to people, so i made emails and mailed them to myslef to save time in sales. Now customers just choose from the email what they want. I put prices and quantites available.
I also have a bug Mailer, Bounty HUnter Mailer, for everyone that buys or wants a Probe/Seeker.

This save a lot of these conversations.

Keep em coming guys, i know there's more!

Not exactly funny, but memorable:

[After explaining that droid function depends on its modules]

C: So what do the modules do?

Me: Meds let you heal, crafting stations let you craft, item storage adds slightly to a droids inventory space, data storage really doesn't do anything useful at the moment.

C: [After some thought] Well I'm not a medic or a crafter, and I don't need extra inventory space - give me one with a data storage module, maybe they'll make them useful one day.

There's something beautiful about such desperate reasoning. Bottom line, he really wanted a droid and was just trying to justify the expense to himself. I wish more customers were like him.

Hmm... I don't think I've had any strange conversations yet about droids. I've spent plenty of time explaining what they can do but nothing funny or stupid.

Although it makes me wonder what would happen if one of us were to stand by one of those broken droidika in Theed and try to sell it. (Not the one by the trainer but there are some out on the streets of Theed)

LOL some of these stories are really funny

I had someone say hey can you make me a MSE with datastorage, I only have 2k to spend but I really want a driod no matter if they are broken.

I reply, They nerfed storing creatures in data storage devices, do you still want one? Uh no thanks.

Last night,

C:how much are your adv probots?

Me: they are 18k and have 40% resists.

C: 18k, I know someone who is selling them for 8k!

Me: Well dont waste your time talking to me thats a good deal go get one!

I was selling DZ70 with medical modules during the perma-death days and the following happens (paraphrased because it was a while back

Me: Selling DZ70 droids with medical modules 3k
Him: Do you have any droids that can fight
Me: I can sell you a Probot at 15k - but be warned droids perma-die now
Him: I cant afford that
Me: Well the DZ70 can fight, but its terrible at it, and bear mind mind perma-death
Him: I'll take a DZ70

The guy runs straight out of the city and I just _know_ whats coming next.....

Him: It went down in one hit to a Womp Rat!!!! and now its one from my datapad

Theres just no warning some people......

A few weeks ago I had a good 1 hour long Probot sale in an attempt to explain things like HAM, armor, etc.. in as few words as possible (you know the feeling ). Anyhow, skip to an hour and a half after our meeting at which time the droid has been bought...

Me: Tocall it you just click 'tame' on the menu

Customer: three is no tame

Me: Hold the mouse button down a little bit longer

[Probot is born]

Customer: omg sweet

Me: The only thing you really need to know from here on out is don't say "release". Have fun training it but just make sure you don't say "release"

Customer: release

Customer: LOL like full release hehehe

Yes, screenshot please! I'm not even a DE (was reading through this for the chuckles and making notes on what *not* to say), but Gveedo's post made me really want to see the Assult ADV. Heck, I'm close to creating a character on Bloodfin just to see it in person!

I'm no longer a Droid Engineer, but I remember this little exchange quite well, heh...

Tailor: Hey, I really want a surgical droid... how much do you charge?

Me: I'm not quite up to that skill yet... I'm running short on steel and fiberplast, so it might take me a few days to get there.

Tailor: Here, let me give you this stack of 500 steel and here's.... 243 of one fiberplast, 465 of another fiberplast, and 600 of a third type of fiberplast. That should last you a while.

(I didn't have the heart to tell him with what I was grinding it would last me all of 10 minutes, especially considering the odd sizes of the stacks of fiberplast.)

Me: Thanks, every bit helps.

After attaining the skill about two days later....

Tailor: So, I'm ready for that surgical droid

Me: Sure.... since you gave me some resources for grinding, I'll knock 5k off the price.

Tailor: 5k OFF the price? How much do they run??????

Me: (I forget what I was going to charge him, but I think full price was about 20k for a full-fledged surgical droid. I quoted him the price)

Tailor: I have another friend who is going to *give* me one as long as I keep him supplied with resources. I guess I'll have to stick with him!!

Me: 5k worth of resources (and I'd been generous with that estimate of bazaar values)does not entitle you to a free surgical droid, especially since you volunteered them.; /addignore Tailor

Stingy people are so funny!
