I can also clearly say that TH, JustG and most of the others could not have POSSIBLY spent the time they profess to have spent going through and reading our forum. If they had, the would not have made some of the gaffes they have made. Still calling probots probe droids, wanting a DH class, wanting that Level 2 module fixed (yes, I am going to obsess on that one--of Gorantoth's ENTIRE LIST, they chose and fixed THAT STUPID, RETARDED bug--and in a blinding 8 months time.), and a whole host of other missteps and misinterprets can only mean that they didn't everdo their homework--even when WE DID IT FOR THEM and gave it to them.

Sadly, this is the only explanation that seems to make any sense to me.

I can't honestly fathom what else occurred...if someone has a theory, I'd love to hear it.

Note: My only other theory is...they concentrate on combat-related items to exclusion of little else, since that's where the $$$ are at....

Who's to blame for this whole fiasco? Well, for better or for worse, I can clearly say that it's not the community's fault--through discussion, debate, and outright arguments with each other, we've always managed to present SOE with plenty of good, solid, clear information, ideas, and our desires.

I agree with the statement above. However, assigning blame is far less important than resolving the issues.

We should, in that regard, keep our collective eyes on the ball.

I'm no Polyanna though, and I'll raise hell when hell is due. Right now, maybe TH is just trying to "lessen" the expectations of the community? I don't know... and no, I'm no TH apologist.

I will wait and see.

I don't fault him too much...we are a unique breed. But, it's that unique nature that requires different handling in some respects.

And not even then.

I am a crafter (obviously), and the only time I ever have use of a droid is when I need a portable crafting station. Which isn't very often.

The doctors need those 10% extra when they buff, and the portable station.

All this talk about "one player getting extra checkers" is just plain stupid if you ask me.
With that statement all combat-pets should be removed from the game as they add combat skills to a player.

Well, am I right? If the Master Artisan/Tailor/Merchant with a little Medic has a CL10 pet he bought from a bio-engineer, isn't this player playing with EXTRA CHECKERS?
He had no innate combat skills of his own before he bought the pet, now he does.

So how does this differ from Modules such as "Survey Modules", "Healing Modules" and "Lightshow Modules".

THEY ARE NOT COMBAT! ... and if they aren't combat-related then there's no reason to put an extra effort in it because so few want it anyway. So say they can't have it. Better take the moan from 100 people them the moan of 25000.

Heh!

After the whole TH "The DEs WANT a Droid Handler profession" debacle, I stopped coming to the boards. I had had enough. As a profession, we DEs were _______.

a) If you're really negative on everything, insert LIED TO

b) If you're still trying to be terribly upbeat, insert MISUNDERSTOOD

c) If you're not sure where you are, insert IGNORED

No matter how you call it, no matter what "good" (and I use the term loosely) things are yet to come in the next two publishes, the HUGE majority of Gorantoths Bug List -- a list of things EVERY DE would love to see addressed in its entirety -- still stands largely unscathed by the recent rash ofSOE bending over backwards to make us happy. [sarcasm] But hey, I am SOOOOOO glad they fixed that level 2 data module bug...'cause YEAH that was at the TOP of MY list! [/sarcasm].

So I decide to come back today to see what is in store for publish 7, and lo and behold what do I see? I see JustG talking out one hole and TH talking out another (you can pick which hole is which). Funny how that works. Unfortunately for me (or fortunately, depending on how you view it), I missed the whole "let's just all get along and be nice to the red names since they are being nice to us" episode. So in essence I come back to: more of the same from SOE and our responses back to them.

Makes me realize I was right way back when I heard Verant got the SWG contract from Lucas back in the days when I was playing EQ: They're only going to _______ (insert your favorite slang word for "mess" here) it up."

Sad.

So would a mass exodus of the game make them change their ways? Possibly, but not likely--especially since the DEs are an ever-shrinking community as it is. And besides, who would really cancel when the alternatives are so limited (until WoW beta accounts are being handed out)?

So would a mass exodus of the profession make them change their ways? Not likely. They already have made it clear they don't want to spend any more time than required to keep the DE profession barely exercisable (forget USEFUL) because everything we want and all our ideas are so darned hard to implement, or technically unfeasable or impossible, or game imbalancing.

So would a change in our tone to the red names make them change their ways? Nope. Clearly whether we are nice or not, what we want is more effort then they are willing and/or capable to put into the game.

So what are our choices? Well, pretty much all the above are still our choices--just thatour choicesonly affect us both individually as a whole, and (unfortunately) not SOE. Each of us needs to decide what is important to us and do what is needed. For some, that will be leaving DE or leaving the game entirely, whereas others will just go on.

Who's to blame for this whole fiasco? Well, for better or for worse, I can clearly say that it's not the community's fault--through discussion, debate, and outright arguments with each other, we've always managed to present SOE with plenty of good, solid, clear information, ideas, and our desires.

Interesting the way TH tried to point the finger back at Drashk and the DE community as a whole--especially in light of the thread GnomeAd posted from the correspondents forum clearly showing Drashk telling TH what the score was and TH blatantly disregarding and/or misunderstanding what he was saying.

Just sad.

Don't know what more to say, to be honest. 1-star me if you wish. That's how I see it. And at this point, it's unlikely that SOE will put in the effort required to change ANY of our minds about it.

Sadly,

Because he lacks the skill points to train in the art of marksmanship, or even the rudimentary use of a sharpened, multiprong pitching impliment, J'Vee sits down next to Kilarny and Vitanis and begins gathering smooth, palm sized rocks suitable for a propper stoning. Frankly I see these next two publishes aswindow dressingtil they come out with the space expansion. Thats when I actually see our profession and a few others really coming into the mix. The game is coming up on its one year mark fast and there are so many fundimental systems that just dont work as advertised. I paid for a yearon both accounts I hold to give SOE a chance to finish what they were rushed to put out. So as far as I'm concerned the clocks ticking.

After a friend of mine started talking to me yesterday, I started to think about it. And I am very disappointed in SOE's "brillant" move for the DE's. I am not one, so I'm not entirely up to par with what you all are talking about, but I think we are on the same page.

As a Doctor I use my C3P0 droid Every single day.....I also use my probot every day. Neither of which I think "Look cool" They are boring, and have no "personality", or special little movements (Tricks). They just stand/float there looking stupid. I use them because they are usefull to me. On that note I think back, and I can honestly say that I've only owned 2 droids.....the same two I have had for MONTHS!!!

With that being said I really do NOT agree with SOE's "plan"......Although I really do hope that you all stick to your gun's.....My alt toon would be lost without you DE's. She needs BH Droids. But I do expect the % of players in the DE field to decline drastically.

I guess I just wanted to let you know that, I think your droids are usefull, and I love my DE's for sticking to the gun, because of all the BS you have had to put up with.

Thanks for the most usefull item in the game.

Egri,

PS Doctor's haven't got much love either......I could drop master and still be just as useful as a novice. Kinda sad IMHO. And this buff patch isn't love, its a change made for the Combat system.
