I don't fault him too much...we are a unique breed. But, it's that unique nature that requires different handling in some respects.

"Clear-domed R2s", indeed.

Indeed. I don't fault him that much either, but yeah it'd help him a lot if he learned from the devs and were more vague. At least he wouldn't be handing us ammo that way. Or, even better he could take a week off and eavesdrop on (lord I can't spell) various professions a la over-the-shoulder-monitor-observation so he could get a better idea of the game and not come off sounding like a noob all the time. I mean seriously, "Clear-domed R2s" is one of the most common things we hear from people in-game who don't have the first clue about droids.

Thanks for the most usefull item in the game.

Actually, the most "useful" item in the game is (best as I can tell)....

A good creature pet (because most everything in the game revolves around combat and a good creature pet is STILL the most powerful way to accomplish most any combat-related task).

I wonder if the devs remember that scene in A New Hope, where Luke, his uncle and aunt are eating at the table. Luke wants to transfer to the academy this year instead of next, and says to his uncle "THERE'S MORE THAN ENOUGH DROIDS." Obviously this meant that they used droids (which they bought from the traveling Jawas) on their moisture farm for various tasks. But here we apparently have TH telling us that this just can't be done? What do they think droids are for then? If they can't and never will be able to do what they did in the movies, what are they for? What plans did they have for droids when they designed the game, if not the things they did in the movies?

I started playing this game a week after release and have really held out hope for a while now, but I'm starting to lose it now. Someone I got into the game has said they are going to cancel when their game card runs out, and at first I was shocked. But after a few minutes I realized that I may be quitting some time this year too. Middle Earth Online comes out late this year, I've been waiting for that.

Hey, don't worry guys the positivity will come back into the forums in due time. Some of you all might recall when TH claimed Pikeman was a hybrid profession. Someone did mention about the space expansion, droids should by all means become usefull then, so what, about another year? /Shrug, well, maybe ya'll should worry a lil bit. If the armor is fixed on the pro-bots and they can indeed be called with a pet, I can see the market opening for you guys a lil bit. So on that note I'm still taking my alt DE. Good luck

That's an excellent question that I hope they will decide to answer (someday).

I'm not sure they HAD a plan for what many droids would "do" in the game, they only knew they had to have them (so they tossed some in).

Yes...I don't mean to have this sound 'flamey' but the paying customers will likely need to start seeing some things behave a lot more to their tastes or there will be a lot of "churn" to other titles.

It's just reality, all...

Realize that the following is based solely upon my experiences having directed an MMORPG:

A development team, even a large one, has a set amount of asset. The number of programmers, the number of artists, the number of hours in a day. With that, they have not not only address all current issues, but upcoming publishes as well as the whole Space Expansion.

The amount of programming that it would take to allow droids to monitor Harvestors just isn't worth it to them. Harvesters can be monitored as it is now by driving out there and taking care of them. Also, this game could be played without droids at all. So there is no incentive for them to put any major effort into them. Thirdly, the DE profession is a minority - one profession of 31 and a very low percentage of players are in it. It is more cost effective for them to work on other areas and please more of the players than just us.

Now, granted, a droid that could monitor your harvestor would go a long way with ALL artisans as well as others. But here's a question - what would you then do if you weren't running to your harvesters? Get bored more quickly with the lack of content in the game. Perhaps one small motivating factor is to keep people busy.

With all of this in mind, realize that my last day is probably on Monday when my account expires. I am doing what any consumer would do when dissatified with a product and taking the complaint to the company isn't resolved - I take my patronage elsewhere. I had a couple of friends join up but since I am rebel and they went Imp and their guild just banned me from their city, I probably won't stay on.

Call me idealistic, but if droids cannot be made to be useful, why was this game even made? Droids
are a huge component of the Star Wars schematic (nyuk nyuk).

In the Star Wars MMORPG of our desire, there are 5 parts

  1. Jedi

  2. Droids

  3. Blaster-type weapons

  4. Bounty Hunters

  5. Rebels vs. Imperials

  6. Vehicles (& starships, don't count yet)

Lets see.... 1 is fubar, 2 is fubar, 3 works well enough imho, 4 has been mended significantly and 5 is... well.... it's there but is it really REALLY there? I'd say not. At least, not to the degree that we'd all like it to be. 6 is fine, but vehicles in the entire galaxy?

So, we've got solid blasters and asemi-solid (think expired milk) bounty hunter profession.1/2 of star wars onlineis basically here, 1/6 is apparently impossible to do (three cheers for ambition!) and the other 1/3 could be fun... eventually. Great, now I'm depressed....

So, they revamp the Chef profession to do what TH was quoted as saying couldn't be done with DE......Brilliant!

Thanks, TH, for making it easy for me to drop the entire DE profession. Its ashame that the only droids we will see being useful are the "background" droids that wander through the city....

It's just a TH missaying that got out of hand. Runesabre cleared it up.

I've been pushing for DE's since oh......August, when probots were first nerfed and your market dried up. I pushed more a few months later in lieu of Jedi and non-working BH droids. You guys are my favorite crafting profession, though I've never played a crafter. I feel for you guys
