This is THE report that we should be waving our flag over right now, DEs.

While the armor thing still has me bummed, I don't think we'll be having much trouble selling the newer versions.
If JC's report holds up, old Probots will likely be just getting destroyed to make way for the new.
(Well, a Wookiee can hope anyway, can't he?)

These were supposed to be the publishes that fixed and enhanced our proffesion. Instead we're getting NO new droids, Lv10 or not, no new abilities and a Probot nerf? **edit** is that? Yes, the stim packs will help, and yes we can expect a ton of sales, but I don't want to be a lousy copy of CH/DE. This really sucks.
Now, let's remain positive. ![]()
How could you forget about the Blastomech!

That's not the way to get customers, nor is making our old tin-cans even bigger tin-cans.
That was an attempt at levity, Audio.
I'm am truly sorry to hear that it sounds like your Probot chassis and such might get 'whacked' in all this.
Were I in your shoes, I'd probably be a steamin' too. Maybe it won't turn out as bad as you think.
Respectfully,
Old probot with medium armor and 40% resistance:820 * 2 * 2 * 1.4 = actual HAM 4592
New probot with 20% resistance and no armor rating: 1100 * 1.2 = actual HAM 1320
Thats a difference of 3272 to HAM.
My opinion: Yea we will get a better damage output, but if we cant customize our probots (give it less damage and more armor).. this will be a nurf no matter how you shake it.
Dont get me wrong, Im not saying that negatively. We will be able to repair our droids now and unlike Pet Stims (which anything above a B pet stim required meats and fish)... it will be fairly easy to make good advanced repair tools for droids because all the ingredients are minable. It just might take a good amount of time to find good resources.
Right now, someone buys a probot from me and I never see the person again.. no return business.
What we may be seeing now is good return business with repair kits and something other than a probot to attack with. At least it will be more interesting to customize droids a little more for people than having cookie cutter probots and so glad the DZ-70's will finally stop being the laughing stock of combat droids.
They might have nurfed the armor because of this fact: Whenever a creature pet has light armor andgoodresistance, they take much less damage over time and you dont need to stim them as often because the damage is absorbed by the armor. If they had left the current armor the way it was, you would need to repair droids much less often.
Exactly. I hope people consider how introducing droid stims is going to affect these numbers.

If we wanted a higher armor level Probot, it would mean less sales of droid stims. A lot of what we want is to craft those for people to buy...so we'll want them to buy them as a commodity item.
Javelin is telling me that he needed 3 stim kits to help his new Probot take a crazed guerreck on Endor. Those are 3 (on Live) that someone will have to buy soon. We WANT that.
I know the armor thing hurts...but this is all changing right now (and may well continue to), let us try to bear that in mind.

Let me correct this first before people start screaming.... that was 3 charges from a single repair kit (poorly made Repair Kit-C: ~ 1024 Energy), not 3 kits.
Good catch, Javelin. My bad. It was an example to point out that lack of armor means higher droid stim sales, that's all.
I happen to see that as a good thing.

Wow... I'm with audio... this is all very disturbing. I'm a DE since day 1 of SWG, been through it all... but this might be the final nail in our collective coffins. As I do understand the excitement from some of you on gaining an apparently new source of income (droid stims and droid repair kits), I must say that I think your logic is flawed. Having this new source of income (or as I see it, busy work) is based on the assumption that people will actually use our droids in combat. As it is now, I see nothing that would compel anyone to use a droid over a BE pet. I did see the positive report from JC on the combat effectiveness of the new probot... and I will be the first to tell you I'm not on TC, so I have no firsthand experience, but the math just does not seem to work. As long as pets equal similar results and are able to be fed via docs and food, we are what we've been since day one... worthless. Anyway, I'm not normally a negative person, so would someone please tell me that I'm wrong and explain the math? I remain cautiously optomistic, but I don't know how much longer I can hold on. All those skill points I have sunk into MDE are sure looking like they might be more fun in the Commando tree. Man I love setting things on fire!!! Peace, everyone... and MANY MANY thanks to you guys on TC busting your butts.

I think that it might prove to be short-sighted to say that people will just buy more stims.
Perhaps. Wishful thinking in my part, I suppose. We'll just have to see how this shakes out. It's always possible that there's still yet more tweaking of numbers being done on the back end.
Remember, we are talking about a CL-10 pet here.
From what I'm hearing, they are ending up higher than that (not a TON but some) but I know what you meant.
It's sort of likehow they saidDroid Permadeath would increase droid sales - that surely that if people had one, it died, they'd run out and buy another, whichproved not trueas the droid economy shriveled untilit was removed.
Yea...that didn't go to well. I'd hope that decay/dmg would start applying, to be honest, to all droids. It's kind of strange to see every non-combat droid in perfect condition forever. Maybe it's just me.
These stims are very expensive to make in terms of subcomponents/time, and many DE's have stated they don't plan on setting up another two factories just to make them. Like Pet Stims/Vitality packs, they are going to remain fairly expensive items because of demand andthe severe rarity of resources needed.
Early on, yes. After awhile, I'd expect to see more of a commodity market open up for these. True, it won't be the first day they are out...but after awhile.
While I think thewound packs are going to sell well,I think it will be hard pressed in terms of value for people to keep contstantly stimming the damage based on the cost of the packs if the Probots are as fragile as they stand now.
Well, this is a concern. We can't be over-stimming weak junk. At the same time, they don't want to totally un-nerf Probots back to launch days. They seemed to have learned that lesson.
I see that you seem to be concerned (on several fronts) with cost of ownership. I guess we'll have to wait and see how that shakes out. It seems to early to say for sure...
That, and I still don't think they should nerf already made droids - it's just not right.
Probably a byproduct of the nature of how they needed to do the change, that's all. But, you're right, that's no fun.

Respectfully,
I think we may all be fixaing on theArmor/overall HAM nurf to the probots in particular. But this nurf is to counterbalance the flip side of the equasion and that is how much more powerful the droids will be in damage output.
Take for instance the old Probot: avarage 60 damage with 1.55 speed. Damage per second: 35
New probot (if it stays at its current settings on TC): avarage damage: 154 with 0.75 speed. Damage per second: 205!
Thats almost 6 times the damage output from the old probot!
Now lets compare this to a good Scout Blaster thats 61-124 with 1.6 speed. The DPS on that scout would be: 57.8 The new probot would be inflicting 3.5 times more damage than someone with a good scout blaster.
Again, that is hoping that the damage output doesnt change from what Drashk said today.
Dont know what you guys think but thats allot of free checkers to me!
