OK. This is pretty far-fetched, but it is very "Movie-Centric". I apologize for it being so convoluted, but, hey, that's what brainstorming is all about.

This may be unbalancing. If a smuggler could infiltrate an opposing base and slice a terminal in the base to retrieve a data schematic. This data schematic would be listed as Base Plans or something like that. The schematic would not be usable by a person, but must be installed into a specially crafted factionaldroid. Once the droid is created, it can not be stored! It will be persistent in the world until it is destroyed. It could have it's own TEF ability.

So the scenario is that the faction has to drag the droid in to the opposing base to connect to the terminal and disable the base defenses. The problem of couse is that as the droid approaches the base, a TEF goes off over it and it becomes a target for the base defenders. The droid is subject to permadeath, so if the attackers don't do a good job of defending it and getting it into the base, than they have to disable the defenses the old fashioned way.

The counter to this is a "slice guard" droid. A specially crafted factional droid that monitors the system of a base to detect any slicing. Once activated, it is permanently attached to the base until it is destroyed. If slicing takes place, it would change the "combination" in the systems so that the stolen schematic is worthless. They're could be a time delay between the slice and the "repair" to give the attackers a window of opportunity. This would make it imperative for an attacking team, who wants to take this route, to take out the guard droid first, slice the schematic, craft the droid and then nurse it into the base to take down the active mechanized defenses, unless they can craft and deploy the droid in the given time frame.

A defender needs only to keep their guard droid alive and, failing that, destroy the incoming droid.

OK. so it's convoluted, but hey..Bothan Spies, Death Star, etc...Just brainstorming.

Explain to me how AT/ST's are balancing? I forgot....

Wouldn't a Rebel Combat Droid for OVERT REBELS with restrictive programming to attack hostile (overt) targets be THE balance?

Perhaps the ability to construct Dark Troopers (or variant) could be implimented if an Overt Rebel combat droid is "unbalancing" towards an AT/ST.

Did anyone say anything about Astromech droids to do repairs on starships and for vehicles/speeders.

I'd like to see stronger droids made available

I would like to see Rebel or stormtrooper armor that can be enhanced with a DE crafted component. Similar to how certain mandalorian armor pieces are rumored to work.

Like armor gloves that you give a "cybernetic" enhancement to weapon speed, etc.

Hows this for an idea? a droid that reports back audio/visual data. The operator can either guide the droid manually, or have the droid follow a set of waypoints. Either way the operator will see and hear whats around the droid. during this time the operator will be very vulnerable. The droid will of course require an overt operator and will have a flag.the audio and visual modules may be separate and require certain professions to operate. Another possible option is to enable zoom and a track object feature.
Another idea to go along with this is maybe a radar jamming module(renders the droid invisible to all personal radar but is still detectable by turrets and other droids)
These things can all be balanced out by limiting chasi options, power consumption, making them expendable droids or giving them very low vitality.
BTW ive always liked the idea of slicing droids being a requirement to taking over a base.
Recon is a very important part of any war and this could create a whole new dimension to the way the GCW is fought

Right now if your a Covet member of a faction and you enter an Oposing factions base you get a TEF. I think that a "sliceing droid" attacked to the base durring an attack that would in effect swap the aliment of this scanner would be great.

I also like the Idea of having both Jamming Droids and giving the Droid Datapad a Real use like the Base map Idea.

I like the idea of a slicing droid needed for a base takeover/destruction. The way it's currently implemented I think it would be better if the droid could slice ONE of the terminals for you, so you only need players for the other 4.

I will not focus on what should not be available, only on what I would like to see.

I like crafting, I like missions (I'm in the UK, so groups can be hard to find when I'm on-line), I'm a rebel and I fight for freedom. I would like to see missions that DE's can do that allow them a one use schematic or improved component for an existing schematic - see below. Make theitems something you purchase with FP's, so DE's can also puchase it themselves if they want.In all cases, you do not need to be overt to use the items, but you may get a TEF when you call a droid with the faction perk chassis

# Imperial Chassis: Improved Probot Chassis (higher HAM only, say 3800). After all, the Imps invented this ugly machine. Players can ask you to craft it (i.e. no factory runs). 5000 FP

# Imperial Module: Detonation Module, improved power potential. 500 FP per schematic

# Imperial Component: Improved Droid Brain, gives a rating bonus to combat modules crafted with this item. 800 FP per schematic

# Rebel Chassis: ImprovedR2 Chassis (Higher HAM, say 5200). The mainstay of all x-wings. 5000 FP

# Rebel Module: Improved item storage capacity for smuggling: 800 FP per schematic

# Rebel Component: an "Adv Capacitor Discharge Unit Prototype" - higher energy potential for better droid repair kits. 100 FP per schematic

So the charges are subtle but still a perk without being a huge penalty if you don't have it. The risk is that you can't do factory runs, so the crafting may fail. The balance is that imperials need to supress more rebels to get the faction points needed.

I have always been partial to the idea of having a recruiter module for droids. This will allow the player, and those grouped to become covert and overt. This will be limited from the NPC recruiters because this module only handles overt/covert status. It will not allow players to purchase faction perks or anything like that through the droid.

How about Factioned combat Droids. These could be made and sold by the DE but would need Faction Points to ready them, they would also work like all other faction pets when there dead there dead..

This could be applied to both sides as any type could be added Droideka perhaps even Darktrooper for imps ...

other ideas that might be nice are:-

Faction Scanner Droids/Modules

Faction Droids that you can assign to bases that give some kind of bonus but can be destroyed by the other side..

Faction Droid Mine layer/Dector
