I'm pulling this off the sticky list (for now) but you can find it via the DE FAQs thread at:

I think that there are enough schematics.

Droids should be upgradeable. Modules could be added to a droid by dragging the new module over a droid with at least 1 module socket available or use a droid upgrade kit to add the module tothe droid. Modules could also be taken out to be replaced with another module.

The first thing that came to mind is the visage of an R2 droid slicing through defenses, and smuggling information. 'course that's right outa the movies.

However, to ensure you aren't stealing from the smuggler profession it'll need a few requirements. Make it similar to a crafting station. Make a Slicing/Smuggling Station that can only be used by Master Smugglers (or smugglers with Slicing 4). It can serve a few purposes, A) Enchances slicing ability B) Required for slicing specific items/terminals/faction items, C) Reduces component requirements (I know very little about smugglers so don't know if this is an issue).

Well this is an idea i've had for a while. Since droideka style droids are illegal in the imperium, the rebels need something that would be their equivalant to the AT-ST. Use modified Advanced Binary Load Lifter droids with guns instead of lifting platforms. They could be a faction schematic for the rebels. I think this would fit into the starwars universe for one reason. When you think of Rebels you think of people who have different ships and mixing and matching and putting things together with whatever they have available. So a modified Binary Load Lifter retrofitted with guns instead of Lifting platforms would fit. That is my 2 cents.

i know this has been said a hundread times but add a droideca schematic at the MDE level either lootable or jsut given whatever i'd like to see a combat droid thats useful....... hell even add componets for weapon smiths to make for it and how about smugglers slicing droids for increased attack power? oh yeah heres more fro the droiddeca master armorsmiths can make a deflector shield for the droiddeca yeah thats good two ham pools one with shields with like 2000 ham and 80% resists for the shields then teh chassis with like 15k ham and 40% resist do it like sheils work on players too were it eats through the shield and carrys through bah just some ideas but i'd ;pve to have a droiddeca schem to make. Honstley i goto the droid engineer cave on lok 3 times a week hoping to loot a droid deca schematic that noone knows about heh hasn't happend yet but who knows oh btw good job on the game so far sony its come a long way

How about a "faction crafting Station" which is placed in bases and near recruiters! To use this station the DE (or any other crafter) has to be Overt. During the crafting process there are in-build delays and he is not able to defend himself, if he should die (or maybe even just be shot once) the crafting process failes or gives an sub-par product...

So when he wanted to build a perk in an place like anchorhead he would need help to defend himself....

Plus a badge or something for the first crafted perk or maybe a maker note at the finished droid would be nice, too...

Droid Engineers CANNOT defend themselves! We are nerdy scientists! I cannot stress the fact enough that crafting professions should not have to loot anything, or kill any theme parks or anything like that to get some uber stuff...Not many DE's have superb combat skills....I had Master Swords for a while, but I needed Master Artisan and Merchant skills back to do my droids....I think there are plenty of other ways to get a cool schematic to us besides looting them....maybe exploring for them through a intricate quest type thing, maybe something only DE's can do? I dunno...I just don't like the idea of having to get a second character who can perform combat just so I can use my first to build a droid!

My thoughts:

First would be what will we craft for which faction? There are a few out there right now in the game. Unfortunately, I don't know them all:

Dark Troopers

Drodikas

Some robot that has no head, just really big shoulders

Those 'little dudes' from Episode 1?

The 'storyline' trouble is that all of these droids are 'bad guys' so people would immediately attribute them to the Imperial faction. Well the Dark Troopers would need to be Imperial. I could see the "No Head" droid being a Rebel perk. The Droidika is something EVERYONE wants so I'd suggest making that available to the general populace - or maybe both factions?

I would also like to see some 'benefit' for a factioned DE crafting a faction Droid - perhaps something similiar to a +5 skill tape.

The 'unknown' risk could first be a loss of opposite FP for the crafting (this would be negated if the Droidika was crafted for both sides though). Perhaps a forced TEF overt status to the faction that you crafted for that would last dependant upon how 'powerful' the droid was? I would love a new toggle in the character's code that would tally up Faction Droid Crafting points that would eventually 'trip' Faction NPC's into action - anything from fining to actually 'apprehending' the individual (shoot them down, then take their credits) but this would require new coding and I know how the Devs hate that.

Roach, I think you misunderstand. The idea isn't to get a schematic that a DE can use forever, it's so OTHER PEOPLE can get a schematic, or a loot part, then bring it to us DE's to make something for them.

There are already many examples of this in game, DXR 6 schematics, Ackley Bones, Krayt Tissues, and many more. Very rarely does the actual crafter loot them.

For example, people could do a quest or loot a Droideka schematic, then bring them to you to make it. Or they could find a part that you could put into a droid to make it hit harder or do more damage in the case of Detonation droids.

As to the origional idea. I would really like droids to be a part of base defense. Repairing turrets and such. The better your droids, and the more you have, the harder your base will be to kill. Of course they can always target the droids, but then, their not shooting the turret or you.

the "no head" droid you speak of is actually the SBD, I have an idea what the imps and rebs could use and their stats,

IMP DROIDS: obtained at: emporer's retreat

Dark Trooper Phase 1

H: 8000

A: 8000

M: 8000

Armour: light

resist's : 20% max on all

Min DMG: 150

Max DMG: 200

AP: light

DMG type: Kinetic or energy

Dark Trooper Phase 2

H: 12000

A: 12000

M:12000

Armour: medium

resist's: 20% max

Min DMG: 200

Max DMG:250

AP: med

DMG type:kinetic or energy

REB Obatined at: reb hideout on corelia

Combat R2

H: 6500

A: 6500

M: 6500

armour: light

resist's: 20% max

min DMG: 200

Max DMG: 250

AP: none

DMG: kinetic or energy

Combat R3

H: 8000

A: 8000

M: 8000

armour: med

Resists: 20% max

min DMG: 250

Max DMG: 300

AP: light

DMG: kinetic or energy

basically the imps get the dark troopers phase 1 and 2, while the rebs get r2's and 3's that are better suited for combat.

  • We must remember the the GCW system is basically the PvP system of the game. Other then for roleplay reasons, there is no other reason for a pure crafter to join a faction (as it stands today) as the vast majority of the system involves PvP *combat*. Going overt or getting a TEF as a pure crafter would be a pretty risky to me. Also, if the faction-based schematic requires FP's to obtain, it would be nice if a crafting type would be able to earn FP's doing crafting-type quests (that perhaps would generate a TEF).

    just some ramblings...

I love the idea of teh scanner droids that can detect factions, but I have been ambushed by combat proffesions and I worry about abuse.... I would hate to be walking down teh street of Bestine and have that guy hiding in teh starport (he's always there) jump me with his scanner droid. maybe if they had limited range. I'm a lowly rifleman, so a pikeman can toast me before i could even whip out my rifle and put a couple shots into his mind pool. It's a cool idea, but I don't wanna die! haha!

As far as teh damage types, i see that as more of a flaw in teh proffesion, and i addressed it in the "getting to know your proffesion" thread.

I think it would be really fun to be able to scan players like teh probe droid and npc imps. This is especially true since the mayor of my town is a slicer (the mayor is a fink!) and most of teh towns inhabitants posses his modified weps and armor... I'm not sure how you would balance this, though. what is teh reb equivilant of being able to scan people?

I would also like to be able to buy a faction droid chasis, but factional modules would be great to.
