Change of heart? READ THE TOP5 as you should have done weeks ago.

Issue 4 - New Droids - Droidekas, Battle Droids, IG-Series, LiN Demolitions Droid, FX Medical Droid, M38 Explorer Droid, EV Supervisor Droid, NR-5 Maintenance Droid, Etc. These are all prime examples of Droids pulled from existing SWRPG material. One thing that needs to be made clear though; Droid Engineers want to be able to sell the droids that they build and use some of these droids as well, but this does not mean that DEs wish to become the metallic form of Creature Handlers.

I have marked the sentence you did not understand or missed in yellow. Stop treating us like retarded morons who do not see that you *ignore* the bits of info that don't fit into the SOE scheme of things. *huff puff* Must...calm...down...must...not...succumb...to...dark...side.

I dont get it. Nothing is preventing anyone from picking up the right skill box that gives them the Droid Cert that they want.

TH, dont listen to these folks. If you sit down and think about it, a new profession is the only way to get the full functionality of droids in the game. I would propose the new DH professions be a novice or starting profession. That way, if someone wishes to add addtionaly droid handling skills, you dont have to invest skillpoints in a novice, then a complete tree to unlock an elite profession. That way there you can open up the high level droids (+50), and not everyone confined to lower level droids (+10) just because crafters feel they should somehow have combat skills stemming from a pure crafting profession.

The arguement of being a copy of BE/CH is null. This is how the game works. I would rather see them implement anew profession rather than the forever nerfing of droids in the SWG universe.

I popped by to see what was going on because I heard they were going to make you guys like BE/CH which is what I am. I haven't had time to read everything and to tell you the trueth I really don't know a whole lot about the combat classes so I apologize if this has been mentioned already or if it is just a completely wacky idea. Right now there are two different grades of creatures, cute little helper pets everyone can have and the truely nasty critters that only CH's can use. You can have something simular, useful helper droids for everyone, and the nasty combat droids can be handled by squad leaders since they are made to direct combat. So am I hyped up on spice or is it a good idea?

There have always been two factions within the DE profession. One side contains the crafting purists and the other contains everyone else. There has never been a unified proclamation of being a "crafting profession". There has never been a unified proclamation.

Please dont call another proffession Droid Handler....Sorry I hate that term.

I prefer Vehicle Operator or Perhaps Mecha-Pilot(Droid Pilot)

As this would be relevent to a proffession who specializes in using Combat Orineted Vehicles and Robots.

In this case they would most likely Drive Giant Robots and Robotic Vehicles (Like AT-STs and AT-ATs)

Anywise...its funny if no one has noticed but the Entire Star Wars Genra has a hidden implied Technology Stappoage due to something that happened in its past.

Notice how the AT-ST and AT-AT and many things have pure robotic full articulation, but also notice that most droids seen in the movies of a smaller variaety and an AI, seemingly had limits delibretly put on them.

Like C3po and R2d2 they did not have very good moving abilities. Yes its true R2d2 has rockets, btu the thing is it couldnt use them for long.

The hidden implication was at some point in the Star Wars Universe Past Technology had evolved to a point that there may have been a war of Machines against Organic Life.

I am surprised no one has noticed it.

They have the technology to focus Laser Ion particles and create AI and advance Articulation but never use it on certain things...almsot as if the Movies show that the technology designers are affraid to do so.

Just some food for thought.

As for making a clear cut balance between droids and creatures....thats easy...just go with the original plan.

Make the Creatures heal faster, and make the droids not heal very fast. Thats right a combat droid maybe more powerful and things but it heals alot slower then a creature making it easier to be destroyed after a prolonged battle.

I believe that was the original intetion.

But then again the HAM stats on players not increasing was obviously due to the fact the Team thought that 3 pools of 1000 points gives someone 3000 health....sigh...maybe if someone didnt take all one damage type that would be true...and maybe if there where not things with 100 times that rating it would matter.

But following a normal progression charcaters should have increased health as they advance. And yes that would make this portion of this game easy.

But like EQ, and Diablo 2 and any other game, the expansions add mor difficulty and exapnded places much more difficult.

So even though the original places might be easy for some people, future locations are still considered death traps.

So therefore, thats why I dont think it would be unreasonable for people to be able to use a high level droid.

Multiple Droids should be left to Droid ENgineers and Vehicle Operators and Mech-Pilots as those are the specialists in that sort of field.

Guess I play too many games...thats why I guess I keep stating these opionions since it is the way 99% of every RPG in extence does things, they follow a logical progressive course.

But when there is no progression or the progression just stops...well...thats when the game mechanics start to fail and people have posts about this being too easy...or the ill fated ones where someone says something is too strong.

And even though people like me post how false those people are...it falls on deaf ears and the problems remain.

Just to clarify I think:

As a majority we would prefer:

First and foremost that the droid engineer career be fixed so that it works, bugs removed, useless droids given a function.

Second: that further NON combat droids be added to the profession.

Third: that a Droid Handler profession NOT be introduced. If possible, that ALL players have some droid functionality. While we would like to see a cert or point system in place if this cannot be done then fine, feel free to organise a method that would work. If this means that there will be no high end combat droids or that high end combat droids are only available to DE, then OK.

Simply put; we want to be fixed; we want droids to be available to everyone and we want lots and lots of droid types not just combat; we don’t want to be a CH clone let them have their specialised, high power combat capability, we want our breadth, we want Star Warsyness.

This isn't up to me. Im not making the decision.

I dont know what decision the dev team will make but I have told them that the community:

  • Clearly doesnt like the idea of a DH profession

  • Prefers the idea of Droid Certifications

The problem with Droid Certs is that it would raise the combat bar and there would have to be a lot of rule changes. I'm working with the team now to pull together some information on all the problems a cert system would bring. Either myself or Runsabre will post on it today.

TH,

Why are we still talking about combat droids? We have all these different droids in game with absolutely no use that could be fixed. Please see this thread - I posted a set of solutions to make the droids we have useful as they were supposed to be on launch.

My apologies if I missed a few things in this thread - I skimmed through most of it.

I think the biggest issue I have as a Droid Engineer with the DH idea is that instead of being able to whip out or crafting tools and make high end droids from the start, we're going to have to wait for other players to decide to drop their current skill tree and respec into Droid Handler before we can get in any good crafter sales. And after seeing Droid Engineer's wait for a change for so long you're pretty much telling them that now they're going to have to wait even longer before they see a noticeable change.

And that's assuming the combat droids are actually good enough to make a character WANT to spec into a Droid Handling profession.

If you guys get to use your killer droids, with no more skill points needed ... then I should get to use my killer guns with no more points needed.

Heck ... I make killer weapons that I can't use ... tell me how a combat droid is different then an LLC? it's a weapon just the same as the gun.

Um, are you high? How is a droid different from a gun? Let's see...

I can say to an LLC, "Shoot that guy over there." What happens? NOTHING.

I can say to a droideka, "Kill that guy over there." What happens? It kills him.

Which requires more skill to use to kill someone?
