I do see balancing issues here but each profession as they stand now are NOT balanced so the distribution of the droids can go along way in resolving this.

Thats a smart post.

The flip side is that all the professions are being balanced so the combat droids would throw all of that out of whack.

The balance issues specifically are:

• # of allowable pets


• # of skill points and experience points spent to gain the ability to handle the big droids

Then don't give us the big combat droids then.

Fix the droid engineer profession - all of it - first, and give us a bone or two for combat droids.

It's absoultely absurd, not to mention insulting, that you are telling us you want an entire profession dedicated to buying one type of droid when DE is only half finished to begin with.

If this is our only choice, then to heck with combat droids - fix us first, and save them for the space expansion.

I am interested in EVERYONE getting droids, combat or not, that are useful to them - not making droids for one single profession, and having no other new droids (smuggler and entertainer droids, for instance) will leave DE in exactly the same place it was at launch.

Is this really the decision you are forcing us to make?

If the "Droid Invasion" and "reiteration" of our profession was this "Droid Handler" crap - take it back. Keep it away.

Why work on content that will only be used by a few people as opposed to content that could benefit the entire playerbase?

Finally, I echo many others in this thread in requesting you post the design you undoubtedly have up your sleeves - because for the life of most of us we can't see how you can build an entire profession around the purchase and use of a couple of droids.

We have enough useless professions as it is - adding another is lunacy.

My two credits (and I'll try not to rehash too much):

As as it has been stated many times before - there is more to droids than combat. However, as it stands now everything is interchangable. A level 4 Med unit works the same as a Med 6 unit, and both can be put into an Mouse droid as easily as an R2 or a Surgical droid. I can put a total of 6 storage components into one unit and still only get 10 storage slots. Really, the only 'option' on the droids is whether you prefer an R2 or R4 look.

Now, if a Med 6 unit cut med HAM costs in half and could only be installed in surgical droids. Or perhaps Binary Load Lifters could be maxed out with 30 storage slots. Yes, it will limit the droid engineers a bit as they cannot create a swiss army droid anymore but at least variety will have people choosing specific droids instead of 'whatever you have'.

As for combat droids -as another possibility to limit them, if they are too powerful, have them /TEF to NPC law officials (CorSec, Troopers, etc) no matter what the faction you are in. I believe that combat droids are illegal during this time so why wouldn't they be hunted.

This post sounds suspiciously like trolling, but I'll attempt a thoughtful response. How is this a huge imbalance? CHs can get their own uber pets in the wild and then use them. Sounds exactly like what a DE would do, except it would cost us a lot of resources to do. Getting the certs to the other combat classes would be trickier, but could be done if capped at 1. Then the MDE who is also a master combat might get an extra since he is both MDE and master combat.

I am a DE, and cause I support the DH idea im a Troll. Nice. Maybe its cause you cant find good answers to my questions. And why do you keep saying "We" Im a DE and I dont agree with you, and my $15 bucks a month says I have that right.

Now that wasn't cool. If any, a dev's favie class are TKA's. Don't even get me started on what they did and won't do for the CH profession (and won't do for awhile). Been spending a month trying to find a rare tameable--with mediocre stats--with no luck.

I know your guy's pain is far more advanced, but the CH nerf was done at the cries of p0ke_mon, which got tiring to say the least.

Even for a probot, medium armor and 800KHAM, they are sadly underpowered and drop like a lead brick in combat.

I dont understand this statement tho. I dont see how DE will be reorganized into combat at all. We still make the R2 droids, MES droids, the BH droids, andthe added Heavy Combat Droids. Maybe im missing something but I dont see the problem.

Those who called you a troll, are troll's themselves. The reason you were called a troll though is because you intentionally misprepresented the opinions of other people in your posts (well you either did it intentionally or didn't actually read or understand the details of the item you were quoting. neither is productive or helpful in the discussion). I'm not saying you are a troll, but just explaining that the reason you were called a troll is because you style of argument is to belittle the views of others by mischaracterizing them and taking them out of context, and NOT because you disagreed.

Try to change the former, and people won't call you a troll.

But as I said, all the people who called you a troll are being troll's themselves.

There is one difference, CH's have combat, combat, more combat, and I think there's some combat there too. They don't have anything else to the profession. You can add combat capabilities (in the form of combat droids) if and only if you take away some or all of the utility capability of droids (depending on how powerful the combat droids are). When it comes to game balance there is no take without give, if one profession can suddenly do both combat and crafting well for a limited number of skillpoints, you get imbalance.
