To further enhance my idea... in the New DH profession include special moves...

There has to be some reason other than droid usage points for the tree... how about overchargeShot1 and overchargeShot2 ?

I think most DE's were thinking that they would be able to use all the droids they make; it kind of makes sense. As a MDE myself I know I will get what ever skills needed to use the droids I can make.

Another modification after reading the entire thread...

The DH profession should probally be located after Engineering 4... I personally like having it as a novice profession... but putting it under engineering 4 would follow CH more closely... If you are looking for equality...

Also, if we don't have lvl 50 droids... what is the point? Level 12, 15, and 20 droids just aren't going to work...

Add functionality to existing droids (slicer asstiance droids, med droids that heal, repair droids that repair, etc.) But give me a droid to kill with... I'll spend the points...

That is probably not possible, though I will find out.

Droid Certs wont work because there are so many combat class combinations that some one will inevitably find an uber-combo with a powerful droid.

Faction Droids are planned, but they are down the road a bit.

TH, Since the Probot nerf. We have had nothing of value... I mean you give low level CL pets to people. With an experiment that gave noneBIO pets a new meaning.. 10k ham Rancer CL 1.... Bug or not this has trashed a lot of the balance.

I think master Droid Engineers should get a Battledroid Equal to a Rancer (MDE only)

I think master Droid Engineers should get some major love. Let us call out more then one Droid.

Fix batterys, More modules, Better HAM on all the droids including surgical. I know C3PO in starwars (Protocal) got his arse kicked several times in one shot.. But that was a comical point in the movie...

The big 'balancing' issue I forsee is whether to allow level 10+ (combat Bio pets) with level 10+ combat droids?

Personnaly, I would not. Maybe if its tied to the already present "Max level of pets" limitation for balancing issues. This would only apply to Creature Handlers.

For example if I were a Master BH and a 3400 CH I would have a limit of 31 with regard to 'pet level'. Then the max level of Droid AND CH pet I should be able to use at once would be 31. However, CHs are not allowed to have more than one Bio pet out until they also get to Management III - so we already have blancing issues. I see no problem introducing code where only those CHs with Mangement III can have their Bio pets out with a combat droid. If you follow my suggestion above with regard to using droids to balance, CHs would only be allowed to have a combat droid via another profession (e.g. Bounty Hunter, Ranger, Comando, Squad Leader etc.).

I do see balancing issues here but each profession as they stand now are NOT balanced so the distribution of the droids can go along way in resolving this.

Thats a smart post.

The flip side is that all the professions are being balanced so the combat droids would throw all of that out of whack.

The balance issues specifically are:

  • # of allowable pets

  • # of skill points and experience points spent to gain the ability to handle the big droids

And yeah, it is rough. I pushed to find out about the dev tracker today as well. It should be soon *crosses fingers*

is there anyway you could even just post under someone else's account? its really hard to keep up when theres 9 plus pages of the thread to try to weed out what the dev response is. Theres a lot of important info and its hard to find.

I like the idea of having only master artisans and master DE's be able to use the uber droids, and then progressivley smaller droids after that with the system implied therein respectively. I just want to see droids be able to do something so I can have fun with the proffession. Any change at this point would make me happy.

TH,

Apparently, the Probot was reduced in power in the begining because a noob could beat stuff way beyond his level and that combat droids were competeing with creatures in the game. We are this far down the line, and we are still trying to figure out a way around the same obstacle.

I think if we engineered some fundamental differences in what a combat droid does, and what a creature does, it would make both pet types a advantageous thing to own.

Here is an example that has been discussed before...Instead of combat droids being in the realm of dealing out and tanking damage, what if they performed funtions more to the effect of confuseing the enemy or makeing its owner more accurate. For instance the combat droid could have a brain combat interface module that allowed the droid to help its owner target enemies better with his weapon giving him a bonus to accuracy. This could open up an entirely new and cool aspect to combat where professions could get combat droids to assist with the vulnerabilities that their profession presents. Like I am a fencer also and haveing a combat droid that gave me increased running speed in combat so that I could better run down those coward blaster heads and thump on them. There are hundreds of ways you could go with this, and it wouldnt interfere with the fact that the droid has to be a cl10 for everyone to use, because the level is based off of ham and damage.

Then for the ones that are very powerful and make their owner "uber", you implemet drashks cert system so that only high level elite professions can use them.

In this way, creatures still do what they do best and droids do what they do best, and owning both will ad two entirely different benifits to combat and thus competition between pets is eliminated and balance is much easier to implement. Also the dynamics to pets in the game makes it way more interesting and fun that just haveing a clone of another profession.

On a side note, I know that the new combat system is still being implemented but right now, cl10 for pets I have to say is too low cause if you play the game look at how many players are useing non faction pets. There are not very many. This is because they are pretty much a non factor in any high level combat to bother with.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR BEING HUMBLE AND RESPONDING TO OUR OUTCRY. THE MISCOMMUNICATION MUST BE FRUSTRATING FOR YOU ALSO AND I HOPE NOT ALOT OF WORK GOES DOWN THE DRAIN AS A RESULT.

Sorry about the double post.

I just wanted to say that I feel strongly that we need to come to come up with a working model IN THIS THREAD on this issue based on what we want and the restrictions on what you are able to provide.

I think if we were able to do this, even if it would take a long while to implement, I think most here would be willing to wait. We complain about waiting all the time, but I think that we have been waiting for a long time for this profession to get corrected, and we would be willing to wait for something that we were happy even if it takes 6 months or so to get going. So please dont be afraid about telling us the truth like " We could do that but it would take until novemberish to get onto the test server."
