Now that wasn't cool. If any, a dev's favie class are TKA's. Don't even get me started on what they did and won't do for the CH profession (and won't do for awhile). Been spending a month trying to find a rare tameable--with mediocre stats--with no luck.

I know your guy's pain is far more advanced, but the CH nerf was done at the cries of p0ke_mon, which got tiring to say the least.

Even for a probot, medium armor and 800KHAM, they are sadly underpowered and drop like a lead brick in combat.

That was not a slam on CH. You notice that I didn't use the words "uber" or the p-word at all.

However, the fact is, the devs do pay a lot of attention to CH's. The number of dev posts on the CH forums is orders of magnitude higher than the number of posts on this forum. And it is blatently obvious that the droid code is inheritted from the critter pet code.

BTW, if you go through my posts, you won't find a single one, ever, calling for a CH nerf. So, lets not go there

I understand, and agree. But the problem with DH is it reorganizes DE around combat and potentially drops all of the profession's non-combat potential on the floor and leaves it unimplemented.

I dont understand this statement tho. I dont see how DE will be reorganized into combat at all. We still make the R2 droids, MES droids, the BH droids, andthe added Heavy Combat Droids. Maybe im missing something but I dont see the problem.

OT - Im going to ignore flame posts now.

The problem (or, a problem) is that all those other droids we can still make are still broken. If we introduced a new class and new combat droids, all the potential for the current droids is being ignored. DE's would end up spending most of their time making combat droids and not enough time making the droids that do what droids are SUPPOSED to do.

Its not a matter of losing what we already have, its a matter of not getting anything new. I've seen too many great ideas on these forums over the past 6 months to just give everything up at the first thought of combat droids. Its a matter of too many ideas and not enough resources.

the problem, as I see it, is that if all the enhancements to the profession are focused on combat then there won't be any room left for enhancing the non-combat functionality any further. there either won't be any room because of balance concerns when compared against CH/BE (once we are cloned to look like them), or there won't be any room because the Dev's won't be able to spend anymore development time on us.

Sure we can make R2's now, but what can they do? Hold 10 items, hold a couple crafting stations, and enhance a medic's medical functionality. (I leave the data storage compartment out because it has almost no utility whatsoever). That's next to nothing. Most of uswant them to enhance that as much as they enhance combat. But I see no indication that TH or anyone at SOE even understands that fact.

There are DE's who want to be combat focused, and who probably don't mind DH, but the vast majority of us don't want combat to be the focus of the profession. But everything the "Droid Invasion" announcement and TH have said on this issue conveys the mistaken impression that the Dev's think combat is what we consider most important. It isn't.

I am a DE, and cause I support the DH idea im a Troll. Nice. Maybe its cause you cant find good answers to my questions. And why do you keep saying "We" Im a DE and I dont agree with you, and my $15 bucks a month says I have that right.

That is something that I went thru as well, either your with the majority or you are blacklisted and ostrasized. I had a few valid pro-DH opinions myself (Im not even 100% pro-DH but I can see why it may be necessary and can see some good points to having it) But as soon as you show that you may be a little pro-DH you get met with hostility and one stars and "we are veteran DE" "we have more posts than you" "you dont know the issue"
"Holier than thou" attitude which makes me sick.

Well, I'd like to understand the change of heart.

Way back when, when I asked, DE's proclaimed that they were a "crafting professions" and not a "combat professions". Correspondent aside, this opinion was driven by post on this board. I see a big change of heart now.

What's your motivation?

This is an important thread. Off topic posts and rants will be deleted.

Droids are a staple in the Starwars Universe. It doesn't take a profession to control a combat droid. ANYBODY can tell a combat droid to shoot somthing, it doesn't take a whole profession to be able to target a enemy and tell your droid to "Kill".

Listen, GamerProX... I'm going to call bullsh*t on you and your ridiculous posts. I did a little digging around. I personally hate when some Johnny-come-lately comes into this forum dictating about what should or should be done with the Droid Engineer profession, the same profession I've been a part of for many, many painful months. After digging through your various blathering posts I found this little gem:

We've been the proponents for balanced, fair, equitable changed to the DE profession for months. We've taken high power droids into consideration and also their effects on game balance and fairness. We've had countless discussions about combat modules, combat chassis types, and making them available to all professions in a logical, balanced, and rational manner. We've had two correspondents who temper the wants of Droid Engineers with reasoned, well thought out alternatives for combat droids all around. We have a current correspondent who is very in touch with the needs of DE's and all players in the game.

It's painfully obvious all you want is a stupid CL 50 Droideka, so you can "pwn"! This isn'tthe flavor of the month "god template" profession you're looking for. Go and troll the TKA forums and begone with you.

I agree with you Biranno, the Devs should fix our current droids. And I *LIKED* alot of the ideas that the DE Community came up for all the current droids we can make. But thats what DE is good for I think. We make all these droids for people to use, but not everyday people can use our Heavy Combat Droids, thats whyI support a DH class. But still, if we can make Combat Droids, and the rest of our droids are useful for everyday stuff. Im happy.

Marc,

I'm not a DE, I'm a CH. But I can tell you, the problem with droids is insoluable, and you've touched on why.

Non-combat droids right now are useful for two things, and two things only:

1. Mobile crafting stations

2. Mobile medical facilities.

To make them more useful would threaten the only content this game has, the skill grind, especially for any profession that has any crafting in it.

Droids should be useful for surveying, sampling, transporting harvested or mined resources, carrying around things like panels used in house contstruction, etc.

They can't do those things, because the players must do them, or part of the only content we've got, the profession grind, will be vacated.

We cannot have that in this game. The devs have nothing but the profession grind and the GCW to offer as content, and the GCW is meaningless because neither side can win it. The devs have an insoluable probleme here. The GCW is stuck in the middle...we didnt' start it, and we can't end it. Players cannot have decisive roles in it,thus making it very unsatisfying, even to the Quake PvP crowd. You can't string a series of battles won into a victory in the GCW.

So too the problem with droids, For them to have a usefull role in the game, they'd coopt too many time sinks that the devs are counting on to keep the crafters busy. These apply to those who are master crafters as much as those who are working their way up. Gotta make those runs to the heavy mining installations or wind generators. It's the only content they've got, and they're sticking to it.

What everyone wants is to have a market for what they make. The problem is, how do we make our products useful without making it a requirement to have a droid?

Frankly, the combat market is flooded as it is. CH and BE pets, along with our probedroids, fill up the market, there just isn't room for another class to fit into that job.

We need fresh ideas.

What about a medical droid that really heals? More it heals, the more battery power it uses up. Heals wouldn't be all that great either, but something just to help out with downtime or to make it so that you don't have to spend those 15 skill point to use stims.

Power droids for harvesters was once an idea.

Protocol Droids with merchant abilites? Ones that improve the merchant class, and another model that allows for private sales in the owner's house.

Load lifters? Well, I don't have ideas there.

No change of heart here, we wanted to be crafters and make droids for other people
to use. Period. We didn't mention anything about a DH. The problem here is where did this DH idea come from. This situation is being perceived by the players as another case of devs not hearing us (properly).

Perhaps if the devs explain how playing a DH would be different from playing a CH, then we might gain some insight to this DH idea. Right now, it seems DH are nothing more than mechanical creature handlers.

Back when you first asked, my point has always been to challenge the devs to gives us new types of droids, not just for combat but for other means as well to improve upon our game experience. (many examples of new droid ideas exists on the DE forums)

One of the main things that pisses me off about this game is the lack of imagination. WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO REVOLVE AROUND COMBAT?!?!?!??!
