Sintrosi even though I am not a DE, I feel your pain.

Your response yesterday was needed, hopefully as a wake up call to the DEVs to finally fix your profession. I have been completely in awe of your abilities as a correspondent for your profession (wish ours was as good as you are (btw I am a Master Smuggler, and hope one day to have a correspondent such as yourself as a Smuggler) also a TKM but TK correspondents have always been great). Anyway, hopefully they will listen and do something for your profession before all the good players leave, quit, take up new profession.

To all you DE's, sorry to have intruded on your boards, but I like to lurk here alot.

Account Cancelled Dam you SOE

There is no emotion, there is peace. There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. There is no passion, there is serenity. There is no death, there is The Force.---The Jedi Code
Where there is no emotion, there is indifferance and apathy. There is no ignorance, there are only idiots who don't know better. If there is no passion, there can be no strength and courage. There is The Force--- there is also Loyalty, Duty and Honor......and Friends.---The Jedi Code-- (as interpreted by Sergeant Rene Jones).

Sintrosi,

I for one am glad you are staying. I think you are an important part of the DE community.

I would also like to say that I really empathize with your position and we have some exciting DE changes in the mixed based on your feedback from the community. The thing is, its a big chunk of information and I have to process it all. I want to address all of the professions this weekend and Im going to do so.

Things are happening. I just need to get everything together instead of saying, "its in progress". The flip side of that is, before I can give you solid information, I have to do some investgation and some learning.

Today is going to get eaten up by my player city address and weekly update today. I will get to all of the professions tomorrow

Thunderheart, a word of advice, if I may?

Take the weekend off. Go hiking or something. I would prefer, and I suspect many of my colleagues would agree, that you still be eager and inspired and happy to do this stuff not just today but months and even years from now.

So don't knock yourself out too much, and don't promise us stuff on a Saturday. We're big boys and girls for the most part, and those who can't wait for a few words that don't make for an executable deliverable can just suck it up.

That being said, get to work first thing Monday Morning and tell us what the heck is going on!!!!

Taking a well-deserved vacation from his successful Droid Engineering business, Master Rho can be found puttering around the galaxy.

Hmmm.... spooky. I have a BS in Elect. Engineering (from LSU) and a Masters of Engineering from FAU (Florida Atlantic Univ.) with an emphasis on Kinematics and Neural Networks.

Of course, I now sell groceries for a living... but that's another story altogether.

Best of luck to you in that endeavor and if you need any help with your Sigmoidal functions or Back Propagation just letme know.

No need to apologize Sintrosi, you put into words what many of us are feeling, and now with the Breaking of our last viable product, crafting stations we're screwed more then ever.

Hang on there, I dont know how to interpret that.

There arent really "stealth nerfs". Stealth nerfs are usually bugs that need to be addressed - - is there an issue with the droid crafting stations that I dont know about?

(Sin, could you help me with this and make sure Im not missing anything?)

Thanks

Thanks very much

But really, I want to help get player cities in order and off to a strong start, address all the professions issues and do it all in time to be ready for another busy week next week.

If this was something I didn't want to do, I'd be at home sitting on my butt playing SWG all weekend

BUT, I love this game and I really take my responsibility to you guys very seriously. I have to get to all the professions this weekend - - and the correspondents themselves. This is a big job, and I want to wrangle it like a rancor and really make you guys happy with the way things are going. I expected a lot of work andits a labor of love, so working through the weekend isn't an issue...besides, I've been spending 8+ hours a day posting on these boards for three years so far...its certainly no time to stop now...heh....

If you guys hang in with me, I will work tirelessly to do my part to make this a cool game and a cool community that we all love

Whoa, Whoa, Whoa,

Hold on a sec. Does this affect all droids made Pre-Patch, or is this just effective on new crafting station modules produced...

Not good at all...

My opinion, you would be a bad DE lead if you had not gone postal.

Like many of my fellow MDE’s I have gone on hope or perhaps faith that my second Elite Mastery would become what I saw in 1977 in the theaters. I have almost decided that somehow the CH Dev and Droid Dev got their design sheets switched. Or worse they are to young to remember actually watching Episode 4 and 5.

For the record the only viable time we see the so called CH "Class" from Episode 4,5 or 6 (Personally Episode 1&2 have nothing remotely in common with 4,5 or 6) is in Return of the Jedi. The scene is in jabbas palace and lasts ruffly 15 minutes. That is the first and last time that class is ever seen in Episode 4,5 or 6.

I realized to my dismay that we as Droid Engineers will never truly be what we saw in Episode’s 4,5 and 6. Or worse even what we see in Episode 1&2.

Why?

PvP.

We currently have NPC Droidekas, and from what I’ve been told they are formidable opponents. If by some crazy whim we where granted the ability to build them they would never, repeat never be as formidable as their NPC brothers.

Why?

PvP.

I personally desired building a type of IG-88, seeing as the IG series of Assassin Droids where limited. I sort of hoped we would have some derived version of it to build yet if you know the history of the IG series, you would know the chances are Zero we would get that effective of a Droid.

I am far from saying I’m going to un-train my MDE skills, it took too long to grind my way through it to do that. Seeing as I grind crafted by hand and no macros. Yet even if we where to be given some much needed love we more than likely will always be watered down in comparison to a CH.

Please don’t think I am Anti-PvP as being a MWC PvP is the very thing that keeps my bank account high in the black, it’s just a shame none of my funds come from building the core element that made Star Wars what it was.

Before I finish I though I would treat all those that desire a Droideka to a little info about the IG-88. The only Droid class to ever be constructed that became Self-Aware.

Quoted from the Star Wars Data Bank.—

"IG-88 is a tall, spindly humanoid Droid completely loaded with all manner of concealed weaponry, including a deadly gas dispenser, a flame-thrower, a sonic stunner, a pulse cannon and a neural inhibitor projectile launcher. "

End Quote.

One could only hope!!

Some further clarification:

I will remain until January 2004 at least, by choice if they dont retire us by then. I will clarify that the main reason I will consider leaving by then is I am going back to school.

I dont know if any of you are Computer/Electrical engineers but I have a degree in ECE and will be going back to get my masters in, of all things, robotics and nueral networking. It is probably one of the hardest disciplines to go to school for so I may or may not have much time.

It all depends on my up front work load. So you will all be stuck with me for at least a few more months and then we will see from there.

A better situation to be stuck in I haven't found. Good luck on your degree -- wow a real droid engineer!

Droid crafting now function only as "regular" crafting station like the ones in cities. They cannot make items over 25 Complexity.

They used to function as "Private Class" crafting stations, like those in people's homes, that can be used to make all items.

This is a MAJOR blow to our profession, killing one of the two remaining uses for droids. And in the context of the silver spoon (mounts) given to CHs and the probot one-pet-only nerf, quite an insult.

When did this go in? I made an R3 last night (post patch) and used it to make another. R3 is 45 complexity.

Of course, I experimented and made a mechanism quality 9 craft station, that may have something to do with it...

Umm, I don't see anyone pointing fingers at you for being HONEST about what is going on with the DE profession. You blew a gasket like everyone else has over the constant nerfs, non-existant attetnion and failed promises we get month after month.

You are human just like everyone else on this forum is (or maybe Rodian?). Anyway, Iactually find it refreshing that your heart truly is in developing the DE class in this game and you could not do it better than by blowing a gasket from time to time. If you didn't, it wouldn't seem like you really cared about fixing our broken state.

Keep with it. If you don't rock the boat, nothing ever changes.
