How doyou envision this 'slightly better' combat droid? Is it a different droid frame than what is sellable, or is it just a slightly better combat(i.e. attack) module?

Droideka for DEs to sell, Droideka Adv for DEs to use, possibly with the mere addition of a shild generator.

If this is correct, then it goes directly against what the devs are trying to do. One of the reasons they are lowering the CL level for non-ch pets isn't just because they don't want to see as many of them running around, it is also because it has been causing imbalance with non-combat characters being able to take down much tougher stuff than they could on their own. Even if you are just limiting it to DE's, it not only doesn't help the problem, but it also sets a precedent. As it is, even without pets, people with absolutely no combat skills (I am one of them) can take down much more than they should. Every time I go to lok to check my harvesters I take down a couple kimogila hatchlings (5k HAM, 30-40% resists, hits for about 300) with little effort and no pet (though generally I pull out my probot from time to time as that puts almost 0 risk on me).

So you're arguing that DE's shouldn't have ANY general-sales combat droids?

What we should be asking to be balanced against are the single faction pets thatare available to any covert, but at a lower level, because of the lack of PvP risk associated with being able to use them covert or neutral. ADV Probot is CL 16 with Medium armor and 40% resists across the board. Against any non-armor piercing opponent it's ability to absorb damagecompares nicely to low-level faction pets with 5 times it's HAM.

I'm not talking ATST here... but a general purpose combat droid that compares with a Stormtrooper isn't out of line, considering that everyone who wants to faction has access to something somewhere in that neighborhood already. (Personally, I think the Trade Confederation combat droid model would be ideal for this puppy.)

MDE only pets should becomparable to MCH pets... tho' at a lower level due to the fact that we can always build another... they usually have to find theirs in the wild.

I agree 100% with Droid-Creator as most of us do here, after reading so many posts on this topic.

Its the .01% people here who disagree, using replies that do nothing other than confuse and redirect the point of the threads. The very same .01% people who "Claim" to have no combat skills and yet manage to solo 5k ham creatures(with resist mind you) on a regular bases. Im sorry but these people are obviously playing a different game and have somehow bounced over to our forums.

Starting to wonder if these people are only trolling given how much pure mischaracterization is going on (not just difference of opinion which it totally totally cool).

I think we're starting to see a consensus on the combat droid issue: Everyone wants more combat droids that we can sell, most agree that DEs shoud be able to use all the droids they make, and many, but not all, agree that perhaps some "special/cool" Master DE-only droid would be appropriate.

Let's agree on the above. I think we still need to resolve:

1) whether beefed up combat droids for others need certs.Ithink they do. The devs, by example of the creature/CH nerf, are moving in a direction that suggests that they agree. We should formulate some thing fair lest it be imposed upon us without our assent.

2) How much "better" must our DE-only droids be? Different chasis? Better stats? Master CH lvl, slightly below or only modestly better than probot? I favor tough droidekas for allwith certs and droideka adv for MDEs. Droideka adv should have a shield generator in addition to armor (perhaps with configable resists) and do slightly more damage. Not much more than players could get if they got their cert through a combat class, but securing for DEs something unique that makes MDE more than the chumpy title it is.

Folks, we are gonna make a crapload of $$$ selling droidekas and get to walk with pride with out new models by our side!!!

That all depends on what you find interesting. I don't find anythign interesting about sitting there saying attack.... then standing back and watching. I find selling what I make, figuring out what people want/need, and in general interacting with them interesting. If you find the first one there interesting, become a CH, that is what they're there for.

I'm a de and pistoleer man, just cause u can't fight it doesnt mean i cant, u wanna play ur game that way, that's fine. u like to answer the same question about droids every other minute? good for u. u must be a nice person who has infinite paitence. if u think a pet class should only use their pets to fight and not wield a gun? then you are in the wrong game buddy. the way im figuring out ur post right now, it seems u just don't want more people to become droid engis, u don't like the idea of them becoming the flavor of the month. don't worry man, de will never be flavor of the month. i don't think most people can handle the boredom of grinding thru 530k of steel and around half of that fiberplast to get to master just to be able to maybe use what we can(which we don't even know what it might be yet anyways.) stop being in denial, de is really broken, and all the dorid engis know it and accept it and are very pissed about it besides, only you.

I do agree.

1) In all honesty, I have not come to apersonal decision on Certs. This is because Im not sure it would be easy enough to impliment withen a reasonable time frame. I could be completely wrong, but I just don't know. Also, Im not sure the fairest way to add it to the skill trees or if it should even be an issue at all. Ill have to read more threads about it here before I can give an honest oppinion.

2) Personaly, I would like to see our personal DE droidhave a unique chasis. Something that looks completely different than anything else. I do not think it should be all that powerfull. Perhaps it could be the second droid we are able to call, since we are infact droid engineers. If we can only call one droid then I think it should be atleast equal to our best combat droid and perhaps 1 or 2 clvls higher. But it should not be overly powerfull.

No, no combat skills, but when anyone has access to grenades that will do 1-2k damage per hit and a few medic skills, you'd be amazed at what you can do. .01%.... that would be what, less than one one-hundreth of a person given there haven't been over 100 people on this topic. Furthermore, its much closer to even, or at the very least 30-70 or so.

I think certifications are the only way to go to stop noobies and the pre-nerf probot situation come back. Even with improved mob AI, noobies may not be able to use the droids effectively in PvE solo, but in a group they could. And I could just see a PA having a bunch of noobies join, and giving them all the good droids to use on the GCW battlefields. I want something special to use as a Master DE, and we all want whatever we get to not be good enough that DE becomes flavor of the month, before they realize they could do much better as a CH.

And no combat skills? You have to get certifications for greanades. And I think it's closer to 10-90, or 20-80 here. I

No, I could care less how many other DE's there are, what I am concerned about is game balance and stability. If you give DE's DE-only combat droids I can guarantee you the nerf bat will swing, and when it does, you lose more than you would have gained with no DE-only droids.

You don't need a cert for C12 frag grenades, and the ones I buy are generally 200-875 or so, add in a +32% powerup and also they seem to go out of their range (some kind of mod that gets calcuated in but isn't listed, don't know if it has to do with radius or damage type or what).
