Thread: Noone is saying ONLY DEs should have combat droids !!!

I know there are like 50 threads about this, so whats one more.

I do not understand why most of the crafter only DEs keep saying that Combat droids should not be MDE only. Those of us in the Combat DE camp are NOT asking for all combat droids to be DE only, that would be stupid.

We are asking for one MDE only combat droid that is slightly better than the combat droids we can sell. Yes, slightly better, not uber to the point that people will want to burn all the skillpoints and time to get MDE.

Stop acting like we want all the combat droids for ourselves, we don't, we are just asking for one thing extra.

First I'll just state some assumptions, as if those are wrong then I've missinterpreted you.

1. you wish to be able to create more combat droids, and more useful/powerful combat droids.

2. said combat droids would be somewhere along the lines of a CL15 pet or so (I believe this is what I've seen floating around).

3. you want a stronger combat droid that would be DE only (so maybe CL20 or so, just a guess).

If this is correct, then it goes directly against what the devs are trying to do. One of the reasons they are lowering the CL level for non-ch pets isn't just because they don't want to see as many of them running around, it is also because it has been causing imbalance with non-combat characters being able to take down much tougher stuff than they could on their own. Even if you are just limiting it to DE's, it not only doesn't help the problem, but it also sets a precedent. As it is, even without pets, people with absolutely no combat skills (I am one of them) can take down much more than they should. Every time I go to lok to check my harvesters I take down a couple kimogila hatchlings (5k HAM, 30-40% resists, hits for about 300) with little effort and no pet (though generally I pull out my probot from time to time as that puts almost 0 risk on me).

my cowardly gurrek gets killed in 3-4 shots in pvp, u call that unbalanced? hmmmm....... i can understand people with like 2 grauls out but lvl 15 pets are not anywhere near too powerful if you ask me. most people whinning are prolly causul players or something. if you wanna call nerf, nerf the atst, those things are bs. or at least tune down the version players can use.

The balance I'm talking about isn't in PvP, its in PvE. A CL15 can make quite a difference when a character with little or no combat skills attempts to take out high-end content, essentially allowing them to cheat the system by having combat skills without costing them any skill points.

droid certifications would stop noobies from getting too powerful droids.

But the real solution to make everyone happy is beyond me, and I have yet to see a thread that comes close.

The only thing we can all agree on is that we need to get all the bugs with our class fixed.

I'm not sure where you've been hunting, but my Cowerdly Gurrek and my probot just add about 60 seconds to the time it takes a high end mob to kill me. And I'm a Pistoleer too.

When they say "hi end", they mean compared to a newbie. The biggest problem I've seen is that these pets allow newbie characters to fight creatures that are well above their level. Therein lies the need for certifications.

And if Battle DE's are as you say they are, then you should be against The Plan as well. The Plan does *not* give what you want.....that being, combat droids that other people can use (with a Cert system), and a couple high-end Combat Droids that only a MDE can use. That is something I agree with too, and I'm a Crafter DE.

The Plan gives a variety of modules used to "make" other droids Combat-Capable, and all of these are DE only. That isn't what you want.

/agree

Without getting into the CL lvls discussed by Jenden and Co., I agree with this statement. Folks we can hash out CL elsewhere, how many agree with Droid-Creator's proposal? (Then we can argue CL, heh)

there should definetly be non-de combat droids besides the sorry probot, but there should also be de only ones. that, will make de a heck of alot more interesting of a class to play with.

That all depends on what you find interesting. I don't find anythign interesting about sitting there saying attack.... then standing back and watching. I find selling what I make, figuring out what people want/need, and in general interacting with them interesting. If you find the first one there interesting, become a CH, that is what they're there for.

How doyou envision this 'slightly better' combat droid? Is it a different droid frame than what is sellable, or is it just a slightly better combat(i.e. attack) module?

The reason I ask is, if the MDE-exclusive droid is a different frame, people will start seeing that unique frame and asking you 'how much' to purchase that droid. Since the droid will be so incredibly unique, more than likely any MDE with this droid will be inundated with requests to purchase it, because everyone assumes that a droid called out by an MDE must be special. For an example of this try walking around with a BLL following you.

In other words, a unique MDE droid would be a curse, a curse that could only be used in the remotest of wildernesses or on the adventure planets, and even in those places, the spotting of the MDE droid will only peak people's interest further.

Eventually, there will be a call from Master DE's to make the frame sellable, even if the sellable frame is 'slightly lower' in combat capabilities than the MDE version.
