Thread: Droid Report (Publish 7): CL13 is correct, valid and normal
TK for heavens sake face reality:
Your First Point - yes the Devs have siad BE will be amended 'at some point in the future'..and we all know that means ages will pass...meantime YOUR community is sufferening from the imbalance-so do something please.
Your Second Point - Go actually play one, look at the combat spam, and dare to come back to me saying they are equal. We have been over-nerfed whichever way you look at it. I really don't like to discuss this further with you until you know for yourself what has happened. Honestly TK it is a joke in my PA now, and I am extremely uncomfortable with that.
Your Third point - Don't you shrug at me TK
you will never get away with that. You and I both can (and could) sell them, and leads - hell I have had tells for a week, and I still will not sell them. I could, but IS IT ETHICAL? ....No - because they are relative rubbish compared to pets. You know it, and I know it. It's only the Devs who seemingly don't know it, and it's your damned job to tell them.
Yes TK it really is bad. We are selling now on novelty value, and after that it WILL go dead.
For pity's sake, this is not what any of us hoped for in a development cycle supposedly focussed on us.
*edit for Sp, could be many more

I may be interpreting your tone, but this post feels like a personal attack on a guy who is doing his best.
You tell him,"YOUR community is sufferening from the imbalance-so do something please." What the heck do you thinkhe is doing? He's not sitting on his hands. He's the messenger, not the developer. What is he supposed to do, showup at the office with an AK-47 andmake demands?
Then, "and it's your damned job to tell them." Really? No kidding?
TK won't ask you for an appology, it's not his style, but I think he deserves one.

I can live with our droids turning CL13 and still be callable. I can accept they can't run alongside another pet while hunting. That's balance, and before they get BE pets inline it's bound to be off.
But why couldn't they tell us that a week ago?
I know I read a thread regarding lousy patch notes somewhere (Shian? AO?), and at the time I didn't think much of it (actually, I can't swear I didn't disagree with whoever said it... /shrug ), but this one takes the cake. The least they could do is tell us that they did change it, before we start running around saying "don't worry, they'll fix it". And now, DE-ness will bespending timeexplanainig to customers that "they pulled it weeks ago, they just never told as flat out before".
Rework the patch notes or spill more to the correspondent sooner, but don't communicate with the community like this
Ding! Exactly right - communication with the customers is still not happening.
Oh yeah and in general: CL13? What a crock. Can we have ANY droid out at the same time at all?

Thunderheart let something slip that I hadn't gotten the official head's up to release. The fact that our combat droids are reporting as CL13 is, in fact, valid, correct and normal. This change was performed due to balance problems with having 2 CL10 pets called. The Devs decided that it would be fair to bump our max. CL a bit to give us a balanced edge with the BE pet market.
So, understand...No players will be able to call a CL10 creature with one of our (CL13) combat droids. This is by design (and apparently didn't make the patch notes).

Respectfully,
And yet they still can't compete with CL10 BE pets. And we have to find out about it a week after the publish. Thanks for nothing Devs,
Chris

So they decide you should be able to call a level 10 Pet (ignore BE pets for now) and a Level 10 Droid. Then another dev looks at the code and realises that the software wont be able to differentiate between a CL10 pet out with a CL10 Droid, and having 2 x CL10 pets out at the same time. Clearly they couldn't leave it at that, as all the CH's would be up in arms.
Again, as a Creature Handler, I gotta ask, WHERE THE HELL ARE THEY GETTING THAT IDEA? This is the same tripe arguement they pulled when they nerfed three faction pets at once. Who ever gave them the idea that CHs gave a rats butt if other players had more than one pet? Cripes. The only issue Creature Handlers ever had was with AT-STs being CL 125 when we couldn't even get a measely 30 CL increase to CL 100 total pet strength.
We could care less about other types of pets, we were more concerned about the performance characteristics of our own pets being nerfed to be bothered with whether someone else had more than one.
Where is this coming from? (Sorry for the threadjack, but even after two publishes and several months, this is still a VERY sore point with me.)
OK, can someone (anyone?) explain why the following droid stats rate CL13? This is my pre-Publish 7 data storage droid, an adv DZ70:
HAM: 183
Speed: 2.42
To hit: 0.19
Damage: 39-43
Armor: AR0, 40% resists (or 20% or whatever the heck it really is...)
Data module rating: 13
What, exactly, makes this a CL13 droid? Is *any* droid that can attack rated CL13 on a purely arbitrary basis? That hardly seems correct or valid, but I guess that is normal for SWG...
/sigh
Unless you aren't a creature handler or factioned up, in which case you get a CL10 pet or a droid, but not both despite what we were told all the way up to the publish.
"If people are complaining, its likely because they aren't using the new droid toolkits. Educate them. The average fighting droid can be recovered in one pop of a droidstim which is far easier to make than equivalent BE petstims, if you can even find a petsim crafter. Show people that these droids can be repaired in one hit from the (vastly overpowered) droidstim. The fact that they can be brought back to near full fighting strength with one shot in the arm is a selling point you guys need to push."
Except that, like your pet stims, droid stims are really resources and factory intensive to make in quantity. Check out some of the other threads on this board. DEs generally feel like BEs do: the kits aren't worth the effort.
"I've fought with CL 10 pets before, I know how they perform and I can tell you right here and now, R3 combat droids take twice the punishment that a CL 10 pet could ever hope to handle without the annoying problems with creature pets being panicked, intimidated, blinded, stunned, poisoned (my personal bane), or just plain cowardly by design. Droids are freakin' FEARLESS, make this point known."
OK, this is something that I admit that I hadn't considered. Droids will fight to the death. Fart in the direction of a graul and they panic. The immunity thing is also a good selling point.
"My R3 has tanked Graul Maulers and held the line long enough for me to pull the aggro with a CL 30 creature pet and get it repaired before it fell incapped. These aren't weak pets, they just have inexperienced owners. The rules of engagement with droids have changed, new owners just need to be taught that."
But again, this is great if you're a CH but not so much for the rest of the world. I was a master CH for 4 months, dropped it because it was getting boring and I'd never been a crafter before. I'm a master artisan and master DE. I really like being a DE, I'm glad that we got some much neeed attention from the devs, as wonky as some of it appears to be some times.
Let me be clear about something. I like the new combat droids, I recognize they're not the solution for every situation and I tell my customers that when they inquire about an ammoed up R3. My complaint is that the devs told us one thing for weeks then changed it at some point and didn't tell us 1) when it happened, and 2) WHY it happened (with some context on the changes to CL10 BE pets to make the arguement go over better). And this REALLY bother me:
"Thunderheart let something slip that I hadn't gotten the official head's up to release."
Was this CL13 change a state secret or something? Why would the Devs have to give TK a thumb's up to releasing this info when the change is already in the game?

Any droid, combat capable or not, is as of now rated as a CL13 pet. So even pre-patch made pure crafting R-units are CL13.
Nope, not true. I know of at least one old adv R2 (medical, food/chem crafting station, item storage) that is showing as CL7 in the datapad as of today. It actually has higher HAM, 273, than my DZ70, but is not capable of attacking anything. Even so, the idea that any droid that can attack, regardless of its actual capabilities, should be rated at CL13 is ludicrous.
But, as TK says, this is all correct, valid and normal...
