You mistook my entire statement. I would like them to be programmable by the owner, but also keep pre-programmed items in there, and a way to set it back to default (pre-programmed statements) if you would like after you have changed it.

And I know they already do that, but the original post was asking for them to automatically say something when they are used, not when they are spoken to. My comments were in regards to the statements made when being used. The statements they say when being talked to are in perfect order in my opinion.

It'd also be more fun if the speech they already have was more varied, and they spoke in spatial rather than conversation windows (with the exception of programming).

I think they should just makeone personality chip and let you choose in the final crafting stage what it is going to be. So when you get to the naming stage you get a drop down menu that has prissy, sarcastic, geeky, worship,.....and then custom. Then you could either program custom messages from the chip in your radial menu or in the final droid. I dont think each type of personality chip should have different numbers, since creating a prissy chip with X number of custom slots would not really reflect a prissy attitude per se. I think this could be a long the lines of the Advertisement tree in Merchant. Where you get to select set phrases for your vendor once you get ad barking, but then as you move up, you get the option to customize your message. This way a higher level DE would get that added reward for earning the XP, maybe by adding the amount of personality customization along a set tree.

I really dont see why each personality chip has to be a seperate component. As an architect I can craft a gungan head statue. Then when I get to the naming screen in the crafting I can select from a dropdown menu which kind of statue. Not only does it make the different statue but the crafted item icon in my inventory looks like it too. This is true for many of the architect schematics like streetlamps, gardens, and fountains. We have enough schematics and components as it is, the very least they could do is combine some of the basic components with same resource requirements into one schematic. They could even make the schematics a little more complex if they had too and combine crafting stations into one group. On a side it would be cool if personality chips worked like attachments where you could change the personality/customization ability of your existing droids.

Sorry to run off with this, I think any kind of customization in the personality chips would be great.

Ill take anything. I would also like to repost one of my ideas since this is talking about how droids can talk:

Mimic Module
This module would be a great addition to role players. Simply put, when a droid with a personality chip has this module installed (Maybe an optional component to the personality chips themselves), a PC can tell the droid exactly what to say. For example: /droidsay "your chances of successfully killing my master is 142,773 to 1!". This would make this text appear as a chat bubble on top of the droid. Making it appear as the droid had a REAL personality and said whatever you wanted. I know this would be allot of fun for role players!
