Thread: THREAD POLL: Should PC's be able to program their droids to speak? /agree or /disagree
This thread is about being able to program a number of phrases into your droid when it:
a) is out for X amount of minutes
b) when you use it to craft
c) when you use it for combat
d) when you use it for cures
e) when you repair/change it's battery.
My suggestion was the ability to type in 5-10 phrases for each item above (they would be like banks)- and then when you performed them your droid would randomly select-or not select- one of the phrases and say them.
These things would be totally up to the owner-
This ability doesn't have to interfere with the personalities that are put in already nessecarily. In fact the type of personality module you put in could regulate how many phrases you could put in:
Stupid: 5
Prissy: 8
Sarcastic: 10 Etc.
Also, the "Vocal Bank" would include the phrases that already come with the module with the option to erase/change them.

Good idea. The list ("bank") shows the default phrases and you can choose to overwrite or keep the defaults.

That makes it 100% (even I can calculate that) Agree that they would like to see this addition.
I will update the original post to include the idea about the vocal bank keeping the phrases that come with the appropriate modules. Also the option of the owner to keep or erase these at their discretion.
Someone mentioned that programing this should be a DE only thing but I think it's better to allow the owner to do it. Having to program 5-10 phrases per item (5 items have been mentioned) will take a long time and I would imagine most owners will want to do this frequently.

I do, however believe that pre-programmed, star-warsy type phrases, and relative to the type of personality chip used, should be added by the SOE DEV team. This would do 2 things:
1. Save it from any bugs the game may have which keep people from programming the droid, and proving yet another useless attribute in the Droid World.
2. Give people who are lazy a way of taking advantage of it without having to program it.
Overall, I think it would be kewl, as any addition to droids would be worth it at this point.
I do still like the idea of droid upgrades needing to be done by DE's though.
