Umm....if you need 400 units....and they dont stack (thanks Devs) where are we supposed to store them?
This must be why I see all these factories outside the village.

Thing is, there's suppose to be a survey quest for the second phase... so probably the survey and the crafter are suppose to work together on it...
The Phase 2 and 3 Survey quests will net you a total of 7 Resource Contatiners a piece, for a grand total of 14 Resource Containers.
I hate to do this to everyone in this thread, but I'll do it anyway. I TOLD YOU SO!1!1!
Since day one of testing and reporting on the Phase quests, I have made a huge deal about the number of Resource Containers required, not only in the D E forums, but also in the In Testing Forums, and the Game Guide Forums.

Its going to take at least 100 of each Resource Container type to complete both the Phase 2 and Phase 3 Quests. Also don't forget, that both are a competition, so you will need to turn in either the highest number of crafted parts, or the best quality of parts, in order to get the item rewards, not to be confused with the unlocks which you get regardless for completion.

Do the developers even realize that in the long term this means that the crafting quests will be impossible for crafters later in the game?? Right now, there is a huge rush to unlock the FS branches which means there is going to be an initial glut of these resource containers on the market and crafters who work at it will be able to acquire them. But in the long run, once the rush has died down there simply will not be enough combat players doing these quests for any crafter to actually acquire enough of these resource boxes.
Even in the short run, I suspect that there simplyaren't going to be enough of these containers around for all the crafters who want to do the quests to actually do them. But in the long run I know there won't be.

It often seems like they aren't focusing on the people who keep the game really going, the crafters. That's because the fighters outweigh the crafters in number. If all of the crafters up and quit though, they'd notice.

I have to disagree with you on this one Malitevv, due to the really high drop rate on the Containers and the shifting of the Phases. I was able to gather 35 of these by completing the Phase 1 quest given out by Whip, in little over 1 hour. 20 people do this one quest and you are looking at 700 containers easily. Whip's Phase 2 quest seems to produce a rather low number of Container 'pay out'. It may look like there is a low return on Live right now, however when you look at the length of time a Phase lasts and the rate of turn over that the game sees, with new combat types, the number of Resource Containers in circulation should increase and not decrease.
The biggest thing that really should be done is passing on the word to the people that are running the combat missions. I've seen numerous threads of people talking about destroying the Containers because they didn't have room for them and had no clue as to what their use is for. I've also seen reports of people under the misconception the the Containers are going to be used for ship building. Basically, not enough people are being 'educated' on what they are used for.
I know that TC is a slightly different community, but I've been able to gather a few hundred of the Resource Conatiners at less then 250 cpu. My biggest suggestion is for people to hang out around NPCs such as Whip, and any of the other NPC quest givers and ask the combat types about the Containers. While you are sitting around, waiting for people, you can always do a bit of the grind, or catch up on some droid orders.

What about the other 2 types of resources? You only named 3 as being used.
I'm going completely off memory here, so I'm not 100% sure about this, but I don't think you will use Wind Crystal Energy and Ostrine Ore until Phase 3. The Wind Crystal Energy goes into only 1 schematic during Phase 3..I think. If it hasn't changed, it is going to take 40 Wind Crystal Energy to complete 1 item in Phase 3, that can be used in itself, like the Refined Resources listed above, and 1 or 2 other crafted items. Let me repeat though...I'm going off of memory here, which is not one of my better attributes.
I do agree about the 'reward' for turning in the most items or the best overall average as being a load of (self edit) and said as much to QA when I finally completed the Phase 3 quest. One other things that makes the crafting quests for Phase 2 and 3 so great is the cap on the number of people who can participate each Phase. I beileve the cap is 45, if I remember correctly. BTW, the last was steeped in as much sarcasim as I can produce.
I have enjoyed the Crafting Quests a lot, however I am still disappointed a few of their aspects. I think that the reward items should go to everyone that completes the quest. I really wish that a different system could have been added to gather the Resource containers, like the modified suggestions I made to the In Testingthread....
- Reduce the number of resources needed to complete the quests
- Increase the number of resource containers aquired from the survey missions, by a factor of 5
- Allow people to re-run the Survey Quest multiple times per phase, but only offer the 1 reward with the first completion.
- Allow the Inorganic Survey Device, that is gained by completing the Survey Quest, randomly find 1 resource container X% of the time that it is used.
- DEV Like Suggestion - Either create a new NPC or use the current junk dealers/ gadget specialists, or create NPC resource dealers that you can buy the resources off of, or trade regular resources for.
- Credit Sink - The Resource Dealer NPC will sell you 1 Resource Container for X number of credits. I would suggest a price of 1-2k per resource container. This would be a perfect example of a money sink.
- Resource Sink - The Resource Dealer NPC would trade you 1 random Resource Container, for X amount of normal resources. I would suggest stacks of 5-10k, to reduce the number of resouces that currently are clogging up server space.
I like the last two the most, since it would help to remove credits from the bloated Live economies (spend some time on TC and tell me that Live's economy isn't bloated) or would have removed some of those junk resources that are floating around.
I think that in time, we might see a reduction in the XP cost for most crafters, however I don't see it happening for at least 2-4 months before the DEVs have some steady metrics on how many people are turning in Crafting XP. One thing that I can see happening, at some later point is the increase in Combat XP conversion rates....
Can you explain what this means? It sounds like you are saying that only 45 people are even going to be able to attempt each crafting quest during phase 2 and 3!? That doesn't make any sense.
