I love that the class we are most like anyway is dismissed out of hand:

And, most bioengineers anyways are creature handlers.

The only reason most bio-engineers are creature handlers is to use their creatures.

Droid handler? LOL what a horrible idea... As far as I saw in any of the movies and any of the books ANYONE could use a droid... THATS starwars... Lets not jump at things in a wild attempt to justify our class. We need some fixing, not another freaking proffession that they'll just screw up anyway... Again they are only looking at something through a creature handlers eyes... Someone needs to slap em on the forehead hard enough to knock the fantasy setting out of their heads!!!

And another thing we did all the work getting here, we built em... The idea of us having any difficulty CONTROLLING them is just assinine. I'd be more than willing to have droids that only we can control. Making another class is something that SOE would do... Step over a dollar to pick up a dime.

Wanji,....YOU ARE A GENIUS. Seriosly, i agree with all you said. armorsmiths, tailors, architects can all use thier own products. Certifications are moronic and so is the idea of droid handler. Who came up with this idea? I looked at the dev tracker and couldnt find it anywhere. I think someone is pulling our leg.

I'm very concerned that Holocron believes he can fix our class by introducing a new class. I think I need to go back into the Dev Tracker and re-read what he posted, and then think about it some more.

It's unfortunate I have to go all over the forums and patch notes to find anything having to do with droids. Meanwhile, Holocron visited the CH forum yet again and posted there.

What Current class would they run the Droid handler from?
If they did it at all?

They couldnt make it an ELite-Elite, unless like someone else said, It cost very Few points.

Also I wonder what tiers this Elite Class would have. I asssume it would be something like the Squad leader, controlling and organizing attacks, but just with droids. Just because you didnt see them in the movies, It does not mean they werent there. It does make sense that someone was actually coordinating attacks with the Droids. After all, Dooku (sp) controlled the ones that were attacking in Ep2, or so it seemed he did.

I would love to see them add this to Droid Engineer, or change us to something like Master of Droids. But i doubt this will happen.

All in all if it does come down to choosing between being a Carbineer/or any other Combat class and being a "Droid Handler." Im going for the DH. Even if it does mean i cant run like crap.

Do i think we should not be able to use any of the Droids we make?

Ohh God no.

Should there be combat droids that anybody can use?

Yes

InSin's otherpost i talked about dividing droid certs into3 basic catagories Light Medium and Heavy. Light combat droids would be used by everyone.Nothing larger than a CL10 droid. Medium Combat Droids should be used by everyone who has an elite profession. Our Heavy combat droids CL30+ would be used by DH's, the droid engineer equivlent to a rancor.

Unlike houses, jawa beer, neutron pixie, cloaks, and chintin armor this are weapons.

This is why our probots got nerfed beacsue newbies would join a rich guild they would give them the money to go out and buy a probot and race through the combat trees. A novice marksman can not go out and use a T21 right out of the gate. There are some really rich people out there and some really rich guilds to by some cool droids If everyone has a Droideka and is able packs of huurtons they are going to nerf them.

There are so many problems with a Droid Handler class.

First, it seems that Holo seems completely unaware of is that a DE, for all intents and purposes, must also be a master artisan. When Holo compares the BE/CH relationship to his proposed DE/DH relationship, he seems to forget that most BE's are also CH's - and have enough points left over to weild a weapon. With the master artisan dependancy, this would not be possible for a DE.

Second, how many players would be a DH, when they could be a CH instead? Are we going to have Rancor equivilent droids?

Third, it is completely unnecessary. As has been stated many times on this forum and the main one, there are other ways to do the droid certs based upon the total number of skill points spent.

Finally, I have a feeling that it would kill the DE profession. Many of us became DE's because we like droids. If we can't use the droids we make, then what is the point? It wouldn't be like being an armor or weaponsmith - mose AS's and WS's do it for the money. If we had one profession that could buy our droids, thta one profession could not support the DE profession (see the first reason above).

I almost gagged on my coffee when I read Holo's post about droids. It is misleading, and shows ignorance (his ONE idea that he references about other droids is to make surgical droids replace medics - seems like a divide and conquer statement to me, get the medics and the DE's squabbling so he can ignore both...)

In closing, Holo's post also suggests that we won't see any DE love until the expansion. Why do I say this? Becuase I seriously doubt that they will add new professions until then. If they are seriously looking at a DH profession, then don't expect anything for a LONG time.

Droid Handler makes about as much sence as a Vehicle Handler. 'Sorry, I cant sell you that pogostick, you are not certified to use it'. CH makes sence, animals are erratic beings that work off of instinct and have some intelligence. But any of us reading this, can get a new electronic widget and figure it out on our own in a day, or hop on a motorcycle and train ourselves to use it. Droids are tools to help people, if a tool requires tool much overhead to run it, it cesses to be a useful tool.

Again, Im going to Blaspheme and say OUT WITH THE COMBAT DROIDS!

Give it up until the addon and spend the time you have for droids on expanding the utiliy of droids. They dont need to fight to beusefull by a combat player. I am asked daily by combat players weather the BLL can carry stuff for them. The little effort it would take to allow us to add mucho storage to the BLL to make it a mule would give us something everyone would want or the ability to add shields to driods to protect its owner from ranged weps.

I agree with Sketch. Can we really afford to go up another class tree just so that we can use what we created?? I became a DE with the assumption that I can use the droids that I make.

I think it will be alright if they used certification all accross the combat classes, exmaple: Novice Marksman/Brawler = probot certification. Master Marksman/Brawler = Droideka Certification. Novice Bounty Hunter = Assasin Droid Certification.

something along those lines anyway, its early and i cant think straight What do you think?
