Thread: Holo's new plan to really piss us off?

If you checked the dev tracker today he made a comment about droids today, he said one of the idea's is to make a Droid handler class and turn DE's into the BE's of the class, if they do that ill personally sell back all my crafting skills, that is just stupid, and you know if they did that and introduced a new profession they wouldn't add more skill points. It is going to be a bad thing if they do this i think.

Anyone else think so?

Totally agree 200%. If they add it, I truly would have lost all hope in SoE's collective think tank.

A note I said in my "Execution..." Thread:

Just personal opinion on a possible Droid Handler Class. It justgot me thinking that maybe the SWG engine is limited to having4 types of characters in the game. Playable Characters, Pets, Spawned Enemies and NPC's.

Im talking about this to be an alternative to Carbiner, Pistoler, and rifelman. Whereas Creature Handlers do not requre Bio Engineer to get thier weapon of choice. The "Droid Handlers" would be required to purchase a combat droid. Afterall you can not tame a T21.

If you want to fight with droids and be surounded by kick-butt droids become a "droid handler" if you want to build droids and profit thier uses (or lack there of) become a droid engineer.

I have 63 some odd skill points left that i am saving up for Politican. If i had to I would surrender my pistiol skill and some parts of the merchant tree

If this should happen and being a DE is a pre-requisite lets just hope the Elite-Elite professions require alot less skill points to master. Disperseing amongst classes would be best, but if it is a tree at least they would have to allow multiple Droids usage.

I don't think adding a Droid Handler class would put us in a worse position than we are now. We currently don't have combat droids to use (other than probot). We can't have more than one droid out at a time. Since we wouldn't be losing anything by the addition of this class, if it happens, then I say bully for it.

Assuming the DEs couldn't get better driods on thier own than you can make, this might be OK.

Since the team still doesn't have the BE/CH interaction planned out properly I'd STRONGLY lobby to get the certs rolled into your own tree so the DE *is* the Driod handler.

As a BE I'm warning you.

A possible comprimise here would be, If a DE can make it, they can use it. Otherwise you gotta be a DH..

Yes Droid Handler should be free with every character and not cost any skill points

Its a machine for gods sake - it does what its told to by its owner!!!!!!

Droid handler = anyone able to speak a language the droid understands

Oh and droid certs are a monumentally bad idea!!!!

I agree for the most part with the person who suggested tie it to the skill level of the players for combat droids... Makes the most sense, most accessible and yet restricted to players who have worked hard and fight tougher mobds.

Droid Handler defeats the very concept of a droid as a semi-autonomous unit capable of decision making.

If they give us back droids at least equal to the ch pets that non ch can use I may not be completly adverse to it. I will however make myself a bunch of each of the best droids and sell off ALL of my de crafting skills to pick up DH. My guess is many will do the same because most who got into droid craft did so to use what they make. I think about 1 month after they did this you would see a stunning lack of droid engineers in the game.

A "Droid Handeler" type profession might not be a bad idea.

Pull out your probot (or your DZ70) what can you or anybody else do with it.

They can say "Attack" or "Guard" to be used in combat thats it. I was killing some imperials yesterday and i said to my probot, I really wish you could do a bleed shot. After all there are creatures that can do bleed attacks and not to mention poison, stun ect. Then not knowing Holo's latest comments i posted on Sin's latest thread my Idea for a "Droid Handler" profession. I think this is a good idea

A weaponsmith makes rifles

A rifeman purchases said rifle and does special attacks with it like /headshot.

However a weaponsmith can make a CDEF pistol (i know thats an artisan schmatice but work with the analogy here) that CDEF pistol can be used by anyone

A droid engineer makes (insert high level combat droid here)

A (i hate this term) "Droid Handeler" purchases said droid and uses special attacks with it like /DroidAreaAttack

Howevera Droid engineer can make a Probot which can be used by anyone.

I love this idea i don't see it heading towards Bio Engineering at all becaue we can stilk make our R2's with medical mods and crafting stations that anybody can use,

I hope im not the only person out there that likes this idea

You're the only person who likes this idea.

Honestly, please don't say you get your full enjoyment with all your skills spent on DE tree just to make R2 droids with medical modules. I'm doing that right now and it's only bearable because of the anticipation of combat droids.

And also

A weaponsmith can make rifles and can also use it (marksman skill tree). He does not need to go rifleman unless he wants to use the T21. And all he has to do is train in one box--the novice rifleman box and voila he can use his T21 rifle.

An armorsmith can make armor and wear it.

An architect can make houses and live in it.

A chef can make food and eat it.

A tailor can make clothes and wear them.

And, most bioengineers anyways are creature handlers.

but can we really afford to go up another skill tree--droid handler????

The DE profession really requires that you master in two---artisan and DE---if you really want to be cost-effective DE. That leaves little for combat. And you need scouting skills too unless you enjoy moving like the bionic man on slopes.

Personaly I would have to go Combat skill less in order to do another skill tree..

Master Artisan, Master DE (comming soon), Master Pistoleer(comming even later )

If I gotta do one more ill have to depend 100 percent on my droids for protection..
