The reason you don't have a train for a pet is that you are not a Creature Handler(CH). And any pets you purchase have to be trained by a CH with any commands you want them to know.

What do you need in order to run the droid? i.e. battery, fuel ,etc..

I'm a novice marksman(1-4-0-3) and scout(3-3-3-2). I have a nice, master-made scout blaster that's treating me well but I'd like to up my damage output a little bit furthur from time to time. Would a probot be able to survive battle with the types of things I'm likely to be fighting at my level? Things like kaadus, piko piko's, etc. I wouldn't intentionally use it as a tank but I'm sure it would get targetted from time to time. I don't want to invest the cash in one if it's just going to get bashed to smithereens in the first battle I use it in.

Also, when I'm told droids have a high chance of permanent death on incap, how high roughly? 25%? 50%? 75%?

Thanks much.

Chances are, no creature you fight will spend much time beating on the Probot as long as you are in the fight. You will be doing much more damage and therefore getting most of the attention of the creature. I likeProbots for supplemental damage in this situation.

As far as chance of permadeath on incap, I've not heard anything about that. As far as I know, there is no permadeath for droids now. The only downside is that they can only regen their HAM "naturally" at this time, so once they're incapped, they're out of action for a good while.

A good probot can probably kill just aboutanything you can kill soloat your level. I'm a Master Artisan/Master Droid Engineer/Novice Marksman (4-3-0-3) and my Probot allows me to easily kill CL 15-18creatures without taking any damage myself. (And my Probot takes no more than about 25% damage.) Lately I have been punking Rogue Falumpasets on Naboo with ease, and they're CL18.

Find a DE who can sell you a Probot with medium armor and 40% resists. Its damage output isn't very good, but its medium armor means that it can take like crazy against the kinds of creatures you're likely to be fighting. You'd rather have the Probot tank than fight anyway, because you don't earn experience for the damage that the Probot does.

A top of the line Adv Probot, 40% resists medium armor can stand up to a Tortur (white to a level 25 weapon) for about 2 mins. Granted it wont even do 10% damage to one in that time, but even with composite armor on, I can only stand up to one 20 secs max. So Probot can stand up to large creatures if you can supply the damage while droid keeps it busy.

Also, since the Probot has a fast firing rate(even faster at point blank) it can grab agro for you rather easy, even with its pathetic damage output.

Perma death on incap has been removed and replaced with the creature pet system of vitality.

As crazy as that is... (why a vitality pack? Makes no sence what so ever)

Actually, I've had good success with keeping the creatures on my probot. Just make the probot attack first and be several feet away from it when you attack. Depending on the aggressiveness of the creature sometimes I'll tell my probot to stay, then run 20 m away and tell it to attack. Let them fight for a couple rounds then go in guns ablazing. As long as you don't get too close you'll be fine.

Having the probot attack first is great especially when you're fighting socials. I've had my probot stand up to a beating of 4 creatures at once long enough for me to kill them all a few times. I'd have fallen really quick in that situation...especially since I don't wear armor.

I totally agree, Mountain Squills camp my factories like they're jungle gyms, so as long as I stay aways back I can get my probot to take all the heat. With 40% med armor he can take a better beating than my non-ch pets, and I agree I want to be the one dishing out the damage.

Exactly. Program the follow target command. I use the word "goto". From full range send the probot to the target WITHOUT attacking. Once it's right next to the target, go prone, get your two free shots (creatures attack after the third prone shot) then tell the bot to attack. You will find the creature will never leave off attacking the probot as you completely kill it.

Aggro in this game is not based on damage, but rather on proximity.

Interesting. I'll give this a try soon. I have not have been using my droids to the fullest extent of their abilities. Thanks.
