I FCs and R5s last night, this is what I plan on charging:
Level 2 Astromech R5 with Item Storage = 35k
Level 3 Astromech R5 with Item Storage = 35k
Level 2 FC = 10k
Level 3 FC = 12.5k
Level 4 FC = 15k
Level 5 FC = 17.5k
Level 6 FC = 20k
I wont be making level 1 Astromechs or FCs except on order, but I'll probably charge the same as what I charge for the Level 2 equipment. Im not making higher level astromechs yet, I'll see how the R5 sells. People seem to think that R3s are always better, which isn't the case, they just hold more. So for me, no reason to make the other models if I dont have something to stick in the extra slot(s). I suppose I could just make R2 and R3s with Data Module, Storage Module, and Repair Module. Anyway, these items as with most our products are worth more than I can ever sell them for, considering the functionality and lifespan they have.

I will be selling the level ones for 1k, and the chips for 1k. The level one r5 droid will go for around 6k or so, or what ever my server is supporting. With the factory work involved i won't sell below 1k. I just discovered that i was actually underselling my main droids so i'll have to look and see what prices are actually running...

I used to try to keep my prices lower, but I'm in the process of repricing my droids. The only thing I dont like about pricing my droids higher is it cuts out the new players from being able to afford them. My shop is just outside Mos Eisley and I always have tons of new players. The problem is that for starting players 10k is a lot of credits, but to someone thats been around a month or two its probably nothing.

On the other hand, a doctor can make back what they pay for a buff droid in a few buffs. Heck even new players can make money back a lot faster with a low end combat droid. There are really just too many credits in the game. A droid should be an investment, not just an after thought. Thats just what I think.

1k for a lvl 1 flight copmputer seems fair since i use crap resources and takes no time to make them and drop em vendor, i expect ppl will sell em on the bazaars pretty fast. Just to few resources in them to keep the price high for any duration

I personally will likely be selling these at the below prices.

v1 = 10k

v2 = 20k

v3 = 30k

v4 = 40k

v5 = 50k

v6 = 60k

Chips = 1k each.

Not counting the chips, that is only 210k spent total, ever. The only way they will need more is by buying additional new ships (so they have variety). And at that point, they likely won't be needing the lower level ones anyways.Even if they buy the complete set for 3 different ships, that's only 630k. That's a single buff session in a solo group on Dant for most combat characters. Even less time for a Doc buffing.

I personally don't see this as in any way unreasonable. Heck, when you count in the CPU costs that go into the higher-end ship chassis..... 210k total for all 6 of these modules combined is nothing. And these are OPTIONAL modules. While they are certainly helpful, they are not required to fly and combat successfully. I have been doing so in Beta without them because of power maint issues (don't have enough to spare for a droid / FC). So there's likely to be asmall but conciderablepercentage of pilots who rarely, if ever, own a droid/FC for those reasons.

If these decayed at all, I would cut those costs conciderably. But as a non-consumable, and virtually 100% swappable, I think this is plenty fair.

Go go lack-of-decay yet again.

[edit] Of course, now that I read Strakers post, I see that I'll be losing business to bargain hunters.... but that's all good. Not everyone looks everywhere.

you seem to forget, that there are really rich people out there

in addition there is a need for those components, and there are not really much Non-DEs knowing our recources needing for these Mods.

so im selling the chips for 6k each and a crate of 10 for 50k

Yea sorry about that. The problem is that your already seeing them on the Bazaar for 1k. People are Advrtising them everywhere for really cheap. So basically they are worthless, totally worthless. I may as well sell them cheap like Batteries and other convieninace items.

I just don't understand people really. Sure selling at 1k is a Profit.Yet what can you buy with that? We as DE's set the value of the product, especially on an item people need. Do people think that Armor, Weapons, and Food are 15 cpu? Hardly.

It's pretty sad when a DE needs to sell 100 Flight Computers to buy one crate of Vesaryian Brandy.

Yeah, it's a pain...I think DE's in general have got into the mindset that all their products are not in much demand, (how many times have you seen"I started up a vendor a month ago and haven't sold a thing from it" posts?), and so believe the only way to attract business is by bargain pricing. It's going to be a hard habit to break.

A;sp [ep[;e have tne Mindset that "Droids Are Cool." So that means since they are cool, you shouldn't make money off of them.

I haven't even tried to break down costs and time to make, but I went withmy standard:

v1 - 15K

v2 - 20K

v3 - 25K

v4 - 30K

v5 - 35K

v6 - 40K

Unprogrammed Chips - 5K

R2 Droids - Data modules only:

Data 1 - 40K

Data 2 - 45K

Data 3 - 50K

Data 4 - 55K

Data 5 - 60K

Data 6 - 65K

I don't know if I'll price myself out of the market, but I'll stick with these for a while and see what happens.

Straker mate i think as normal your trying to make money out of nothing, flightcomps dont need any special resources you can use any cheap junk you have lying around and they dont take much to build just because they used in ships dont make them worthamazing amountsfor a level 1 comp, as it is droid engineers going to be up against pretty good loot drop versions anyway so charing over odds prices on baisis your not making any money from de and you think you should , youll just end up with a nice vendor with lot on it. Drashk makes sense for based on what the item is and what it costs. im making good enough money off what i sell and i dont sell at stupid prices just because it looks like r2 out the film. If ive had to pay for resouces for bit then i increase the price to cover what ive spent myself but if its cheap junk ive mined then i stick to standard pricing i use. Since you still cant change modules in droids anyone who buys a lv1+ droid is probably going to come back later when they have increased skill level so you will hopefuly get another sale from them, and no ones going to be jumping from lv1 to lv6 astromech quickly unless they are really putting in the space hours so doubt many will wait for lv6 before buying one. and will get normla priced astro up the line as they go.

no body ever asks me for lv3 medical droid since on medical theres no limit but with space its different so look on brightside.

on this theroy about pricing it seems with your logic on what things are worth washing machines in shops would cost 20k since they wash your clothes and people need them, dont remember seeing any in shops for that much.
