Thread: crafting stations in droids
Straker_Atrella wrote:
Again I can't find the post, but people did like 100 crafts using a droid and using a public 0.00 station. The Droid was better.
My wholy anecdotal, relatively limited, and entirely unempirical testing and research has led me to believe that this is true as well. I have trended toward much better combines using a droid crafting station over a public station. I also seem to have better combines w/ my crafting droid over the 12.7 something effectiveness private food & chem stationthatmy toonSyliene has. Guess this is placebo/coincidence....
I would definitely buy/use a 35 + effectiveness private station overa droid versionif I could find any though.

Your information is not correct Amazon.
Crafting Stations only effect the Assembly Roll. They do not effect your ability for experimentation.

You're repeating what you've read in the DE 101 which while a great guide isn't 100%.
The official answer from the devs on this issue is that Droid crafting station Modules are rated exactly the same as public crafting stations which have Zero rating or 0.00.
The 'offical' answer, was as is often by TH about droid issues, wasn't properly stated.Droid Stations do have a Null rating. This is the same type of effect that happens on resources that do not have a stat that is needed in crafting, such as the case of Lubricating Oil in Harvester creation. Here is how you test this to find out.....You will need the following -
- 1 -15.00 rated Crafting tool (close to target as possible)
- 1 0.00 rated Crafting tool (close to target as possible)
- 1 +15.00 rated Crafting tool (close to target as possible)
- 1 -15.00 rated Crafting station (close to target as possible)
- 1 0.00 rated Crafting station (close to target as possible)
- 1 +15.00 rated Crafting station (close to target as possible)
- 1 +30.00 rated Crafting station (close to target as possible)
- 1 +45.00 rated Crafting station (close to target as possible)
- 1 Droid with a Crafting Station
- 27000 units of High OQ/CD Metal
- 10800 units of High OQ Chemical
- 44xx Artisan
- 1 CDEF Pistol Schematic
- Be a non-Rodian or non-Human toon (Rodains have the Weapon Assembly bonus and Humans have the Experimentation bonus)
- Be located outside of a cities limits (Since some cities offer a Research bonus)
- Have no other crafting stations in the area
- Not be wearing any clothing with any kind of SEA / BE bonus
- Not be effected by any type of buff (Food, Entertainer, etc.)
- Lots of time on your hands, and a lot of patience.
Now, with all of those items gathered, you will need to drop your the -15.00 rated Crafting station and craft 100 CDEF Pistols, using the -15.00 rated Crafting tool. Record each initial crafting result, and each of the following experimentation results. You will need to experiment on the same lines of experimentation each and every time. After the 100 are crafted, then repeat the process using the same -15.00 rated Crafting station, but change the tool to the 0.00 rated Crafting tool. Same process. Repeat with the +15.00 rated Crafting tool. After this last test is completed, pick up the station and move to another structure, or log out for 20 minutes. This ensures that the rating on the crafting station can not be found present, when you begin the test all over again, using the next station, 0.00 rated.
You will need to repeat this same process for all 6 crafting station. When completed, you should have a chart for each of the following
- -15.00 rated station / -15.00 rated tool
- -15.00 rated station / 0.00 rated tool
- -15.00 rated station / +15.00 rated tool
- 0.00 rated station / -15.00 rated tool
- 0.00 rated station / 0.00 rated tool
- 0.00 rated station / +15.00 rated tool
- +15.00 rated station / -15.00 rated tool
- +15.00 rated station / 0.00 rated tool
- +15.00 rated station / +15.00 rated tool
- +30.00 rated station / -15.00 rated tool
- +30.00 rated station / 0.00 rated tool
- +30.00 rated station / +15.00 rated tool
- +45.00 rated station / -15.00 rated tool
- +45.00 rated station / 0.00 rated tool
- +45.00 rated station / +15.00 rated tool
- Droid station / -15.00 rated tool
- Droid station / 0.00 rated tool
- Droid station / +15.00 rated tool
Once you have completed this process for all 6, compare your results with each other, from each test. Your numbers will be fairly close together, however the 1st set of results will have the highest deviation, when compared to the 18th set of results. If the droid station was rated at 0.00 Functionality, then the results from test 16, 17, & 18 it would be within the same parameters as the data from test 4, 5, & 6. This is not the case. The results from test 18 best mimic the results found in test 15 and test 12.
You can also run the same test replacing CDEF Pistols with Private Crafting stations, available at Novice Architect. The stations show more information about the experimentation, due to the extended functionality rating, then the CDEF pistols. This is a little more resource intense, though you don't need to use the optional components. If you want to test it with this method, I would suggest only crafting 10 stations for each combonation, since it will only set you back 81000 units of high CD metal, however, the results will not be as conclusive as a 100 run of each station. Not everyone has 810,000 units of High OQ metal to run this test though.
PS - The information that was included in teh DE 101 thread was verified before being posted. The only information that I did not list correctly, when it was written, was on the Auto-Repair Module.

whats the result??
- +45.00 rated station / +15.00 rated tool
- Droid station / +15.00 rated tool
- +30.00 rated station / +15.00 rated tool
- +45.00 rated station / 0.00 rated tool
- +30.00 rated station / 0.00 rated tool
- +15.00 rated station / +15.00 rated tool
- +45.00 rated station / -15.00 rated tool
- Droid station / 0.00 rated tool
- +15.00 rated station / 0.00 rated tool
- 0.00 rated station / +15.00 rated tool
- +30.00 rated station / -15.00 rated tool
- +15.00 rated station / -15.00 rated tool
- 0.00 rated station / -15.00 rated tool
- 0.00 rated station / 0.00 rated tool
- -15.00 rated station / +15.00 rated tool
- -15.00 rated station / 0.00 rated tool
- -15.00 rated station / -15.00 rated tool
- Droid station / -15.00 rated tool
The results of the top4 rated were too close to conclusively determine a difference in performance. They are, for all practilal purposes, the same in function.
If someone really really wants the results of the test that I ran, I can post them. However itwill take me some time to post them, since the freakin formating on the Lithium forums is horrid, to put it nicely.

Once you come up with a set of results instead of a theoretical method to obtain them I'll accept that my information is incorrect.but I'dlike to know where you get your + and -15 rated tools from.
clicky

I've already performed this test. It is why I was able to list what was needed to perform the test. I perform tests such as this quite often and have listed results to such tests on this forum a few times in the past. I have not listed the crafting station results, due to the 900 different entries that are required to format on the Lithium boards.
Please don't turn this into a matter of Ego. When I state that something is working in such a manner, it is due to me testing it and proving this information. It is what I do.
I'dlike to know where you get your + and -15 rated tools from.
Crafting tools run from -15.00 to +15.00. The + isn't listed on the crafting tool, however the - is listed.
Yo're doing nothing but agreeing with me anyway, droid stations do have a null effect, as do public crafting stations with a rating of zero.
Public crafting stations can not be compared to Public crafting stations. They are handled completely differently, otherwise you would be able to craft all items while standing near a Public Crafting Station. They do not operate in the same manner as Private crafting stations, or droid crafting stations.
Private Crafting Stations did not always havea Functionaltiy Rating. The rating was added in around 1 - 2 months after launch. Before they were changed, crafting was 100% based on the quality of the tool. Highly rated tools, near a Private Crafting Station, would produce vastly better results, when compared to Public stations. After the FR conversion, Private stations became a lot less effective in crafting, however Droid Crafting stations were still as effective.
The Crafting Stations in a droid were never changed from the original coding. This is why they still have a nul rating.
My point is that a null rating is not 30.00 as some have said.
Way back when, when I was still on Shadowfire, I was producing 32 FR Crafting Stations. They were considered to be 'the best' at the time. I performed a test, using 6 different people to assist me. I had each person craft20 items using the droid and 20 items using one of my crafting stations. Both tests were using the same crafting tool, which I believe were rated at 14.5ish.
The responses, from all 6 people, were the same. They could not find a major difference between the two. I made a post, at the time, stating this.
It still holds true, evenover 1 year later.

So you expect the entire DE community of SWG to accept the statement "I did the test, got these results but I can't post them for you"?
Please don't turn this into a matter of Ego. When I state that something is working in such a manner, it is due to me testing it and proving this information. It is what I do.
I'm not turning anything into a matter of ego, it seems to me that you are. I apologise if you were upset when I said thatyour DE 101 wasn't 100%

Crafting tools run from -15.00 to +15.00. The + isn't listed on the crafting tool, however the - is listed.
I realise this, as does any artisan, what point exactly are you trying to make?

This difference is not necessarily linked to functionality rating, this would be like my saying that gravity allows me to stand on the moon as it does on the earth, therefore both must have atmospheres. The public stationsdo in fact operate in exactly the same manner as private stations although they limit the number of craftable items available when you use the tool.

I'm not arguing this, the point is that "Nul" is 0.00 and not 30.00.

You'll forgive me if I don't take your word as gospel, I prefer to listen to informed information from the developers rather than Test Centre players. I'd suggest that you're so wound up in DE that you lack a broader knowledge in other areas of crafting & would defend your beloved craft at all costs.
Edit: That green writing is horrible btw & hurts my eyes, plz dont use it.
