Thread: FYI: Probot nerf
Can I suggest instead of a "Cert" that the user is required to buy a License instead.
This way you are not adding more skill points that someone will need to spend. AND you can give something else for smugglers to do. Maybe Forge Licenses?
You can do this with the upcoming vehicles too. Not only do they need to buy the vehicle, but they need to have a license to operate it also. It just adds more credit spending to the game, and unless you are going to powerlevel a lower level character, it is going to require even more expense for a newbie character to get this nice combat droid.
Kralis - You hit the nail on the head. 4 of my friends and I started all playing SWG at the same time. We all chose a profession that would compliment each other and not overlapp. I was the unfortunate person that chose DE. All of them have by far surpassed me in crafting skill and I have the most harvesters and play more than any of them.
The architect in the group has me getting the resources so he can build me med and heavy harvesters. How hard is it to advance when someone else gets you all the resources? And don't tell me "I mine all my own resources" either.I see/hear it all the time, archs complaining how many resources they need to a customer and that customer saying "well I haveXXX of that resource".Meanwhile, I need a TON of different resources to build a single probot droid...the only droid that sells mind you. At least Architects can sell what they make. I feel as though DE's have been totally abandonded.
All people who think their profession sucks...try DE for a while. You will truly understand the meaning of suck. Getting large quantities of a few resources is no biggie...getting relatively small quantities of MANY resources IS a big deal which is what we deal with every day. Add to that that we get relatively small amounts of exp for crafting droids and our first tier after Novice is 48k! Add to that that we need to use a crafting station from our ADV blueprints on. Add to that that we can't find the resources we need (just spent 35k traveling to different planets to find extrusive ore...still haven't located anywhere). Add to that that we can't sell a single droid because 1.) No one knows how to use the little bit of functionality that they do provide and 2.) They aren't all THAT useful...at least enough that people will pay money enough to support our profession. Add to that that they don't list in the bazaar at all (last time I checked I couldn't see my droids or anyone else's droids for sale).
The saving grace was probots...of which we only get at expert but still need to get the armour tree up as well as some of the production techniques if we want to experiment. So making a "good" probot takes a TON of time anyway just to get there. Now that our "bread and butter" is gone, what will replace it?
So first, all you people complaining how bad making weapons/armour/structures is/are...try being a DE and then you will know whey I feel no sympathy towards your professions and how bad you think it is. I have friends that are doing all of those things and they are much further along even tho I play much more than they do.
Second, this one goes out to all the DEVs and Designers. How about giving us something instead of just taking it away. I have seen the exploits get fixed in a day but seriously lacking functionality is completely missing. I understand these things need to be addressed but I think the priority should be to get existing functionality working or at minimum they both should have the same priority. Give us DEs a break! Or give us something that is actually USEFUL like the data droid used to be.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!
that's about the only way I can now look at this situation.
I was pissed, very pissed, but then I kinda came to realize something.
It's not Holocron's fault....it's the moron who hired him.
So i'm not goint to blame Holo for making idiotic disicions. Cause honestly, it's not his fault. It's just the way he thinks.
If you thought people didn't like you before, you got about 300 more that don't right now.
But hey, fellow DE's don't fret....
I know some of you didn't ride the cashflow wave but most of us did, and i'm happy to say i've got a nice bank account. Now i think i'll take up musician or image designer and spend all my money frivelously giving away massive tips just to make other ppl's gaming experience better. You ask me why? why would i blow all my money on other people? Easy, because I can do one thing that Holo can't. Make other people playing this game happy.

You must not know how to 'sploit them thoroughly. You can kill ANYTHING in the game with a single probe droid, if you know the right tricks.

I never really thought the probots where THAT powerful. I still had to avoid a LOT of creatures. The droids certainly aren't all powerful or anything.
You SOE screwballs are dorked in the head.. YOu fook up the game for everyone else instead of addressing the exploits.. This nerf is bullsh1t. I don't see Creature handlers being tamed, instead you dork with this..
YOU PEOPLE HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO RUN THIS GAME, OR FIX IT!
Data mod - store all those waypoints, I know my datapad is nearly filled with resource waypoints, does anyone bother keeping these in their datapad NOT
Storage mod - good for destroying anything you put into it
Med mod - level 1 works as good as a level 6 mod
What do you see as the uses for the droids?
The R units, Surgical, Protocol, Lifter, Power-Droid, and Probot?
OW I forgot to mention I am almost a Master Droid Engineer. I am making my toughest droid according to your schematics (Advanced Probots), So inturn with this nerf. I Will have no reward once I hit Master... All I can say is DOH!!!!
I just thought you should know how stupid this is...
Holocron
ALL you HAD to do was make them PERMADEATH.. thats IT.. NOTHING else HAD to be DONE.
DONT DO IT
Infamacious H'azenbazer - DE
TAG- LOWCA (the server with issues)
This makes me want to rethink my choice of profession. I decided to play SWG because my brother was playing, wanted me to join him here. I said sure. I thought the idea of being a droid engineer was great! "I can make R2s and 3POs? That is so cool!," I thought.
So I start as a novice artisan. What do I realize? It's going to take me a long time to get to novice DE. I made alot of scopes, those weapon upgrades, to gain xp. Why? Because it was easy and I could not get ahold of all the bone and leather to make and sell bone armor. So I finally get novice DE. "Finally! I'm here!" But....not really. I see I can only make mouse droids. Well, that's ok...those guys are funny. But what's this? They only give me 140 xp. I need 48000 xp before I can make any other type of droid. So I start making my mice. Alot of them. About 100+ mice into it I thought of if I'd get more xp if I put a module in the little guys. Yes I do, med module 1 mouse droid gave me 162 xp + the 45 xp I got from making just the med module 1. Ok, so that made things a little faster. I'll leave out the part about only being able to sell 5 mouse droids, giving alot away, and deleting the rest.
Ok, so I've made about 2500 credits from selling my 5 mouse droids. But now I have Int Blueprints and I can make a combat droid. This is perfect! The market has got to be good on these. So I make my first DZ70. I'm pretty excited to see how well it works. I tame the deed, and there it is! It looks pretty cool. So I check its stats. 40 health. 20-30 damage. I figured, ok so these are not going to sell so well. But then I thought, maybe they will sell ok...after all, an extra 20-30 damage every few seconds would be good for anyone just starting out. So I grab some missions to test out this combat droid. Does it hit for 20-30 damage? Yes. Does it do so more than once? Rarely. Why? No matter when I sent my DZ70 in for the attack, it immediately became the target of whatever creature I was fighting. So now I finally realize that my DZ70 really is not going to sell at all. I gave a few to some people for free and that was it for those.
I realize at this point that the market is in Probots. I had talked with enough people, heard them all say you'll make money and sell droids when you get to probots. R5 medical module droid anyone? No. Why? Because Lil' MSE mousey med mod is just as effective but oh so much cheaper. So I start skilling up on R5s to get to Adv blueprints. I realize much too late that it is actually more resource efficient to skill up on med module treadwells (2.75 xp per resource compared to R5 med mods 2.62 xp per resource) At least it is fewer mouse, not the MSE-kind, clicks from getting out of the novice DE box.
I then noticed that I needed Master Artisan to make some of my droid components. Ok then, back to skilling up general crafting xp. Tedious and boring but I make it all the same. I could have bought from others by why not just make those master artisan components myself, right?
67200 xp later and I finally get Adv blueprints. R4s are neat but...why is someone going to pay more for them than an R5 or adv R5? I suppose if they like the "cone-head" look. Power droids! Neat! That's funny, I don't see Power Core as something I can make. Aha! I cannot as a droid engineer make everything I need to make the Power droid. Adv DZ70s! Haha, I was not naive this time I knew they would be nothing. I made one just to be sure and I was right, just as worthless as the original.
So what is the point of saying all this now that I'm sitting at 10K xp into Exp blueprints? So far, I have made very, very little money in droid engineering. The different kinds of droids that I can make do NOT have unique functions. The first attack droid is so worthless that it should not even be in the game. To make all my droids I need master artisan AND architect skills. Every droid looks exactly the same. I cannot change the color of my droids. My droids cannot have numbers in their names. I wish I could make R5-D5, or something like that, but I cannot. I was hoping to have more droid out at one time but I cannot. I realized all I had to look forward to was probots. Probots, probots, probots, probots. Now, that is soon to be taken away. 70% of what they could do, down the drain. Will they still take the same time and resources to make? I'm sure that they will. Will they become just as useless as the DZ70? No doubt. So how do I sell droids as a DE? So far I've made maybe a total of 15 sales. I spammed Mos Eisley for 30minutes before I could sell R5 med module droid for 500credits. A few people laughed at me trying to sell them. A DE sent me a tell saying I should just delete the deeds and not waste my time.
I would like to request a change to DE. I would like to see DE taken out of the game completely. Please add NPC merchants that sell droids with various modules at whatever prices are deemed fair. Why do I ask this? Because I hate to think that others getting into the game will choose DE thinking they are going to be making cool droids. The "coolness" factor of having your own mouse droid named Stud only lasts for so long.
I suppose I will start working my way towards another skill. Perhaps something in combat. By the time I will be able to make probots they will not be selling. And then what will I make? An R2 unit that cannot do anything my R5 unit can do?
I've left out numerous other problems with DE but...you have all mentioned them already. I'm sure everything I said is not new news either. I just felt like saying it because it is how I feel about it. I went into DE with such hopes only to see that hope crushed by the realization that being a DE is pointless.
Thank you for letting me know in advance to stop skilling up in DE.
I hit blueprints 1 and just realized this profession really sucks, there is NO point to the profession now that probot's are nerfed to about the same effectivness as my seeker drod ha!
I thought this would be such a cool thing to do in game. But i was wrong, we wont get any major updates in this field for a while...... see ya later DE's.
Devs..although you are probally not listening....please hear me.
My probot has been the only thing that has allowed me to take destroy missions by myself. I am a casual gamer, I am usually on for a few hours at a time when I am on and the only way that I have been able to complete missions has been with my probot. (that is faction missions) Neutral hunting missions are overly simplistic and get boring quick...the rebel factions missions posed a challenge with my probot, but without it, it isimpossible. Please do not nerf this droid. Sure reduce thier stats by A LITTLE, but not like what your planning.
Marok Pootian
What I want to know is, as an Artisan, if my Probot has less health than me, and less power, how am I supposed to defend myself against the 1.2 billion red dots swarming every single one of my harvesters? As it stands I have a Probot and I still die more often than not, so if I can't have creatures, and can't own a decent droid bodyguard, how am I supposed to function?
Artisans are by design wimpy, I understand that. They're basically intended, as far as I can tell, for players who don't want to hack and slash things all day. So by taking away our only defense against the hostile forces of the universe, what does this do? And please don't say they still fight, by dropping it to 800-900 and not making it easy to repair, it's about as useful in a fight as I am now, but more expensive.
If you take away our current bodyguards, fine, but at the very least give us another alternative other than everyone being forced to be a Marksman as well as Artisan. Having a strong droid to defend me so I don't have to bother with mind-numbing fighting is the reason I play this game rather than the others.
Listen Devs! Just respond to this post!
All you need to do is make them perma die and take perma damage that can only be repaired by a DE. That way, the noobie can maybe kill stuff for a little while, but sooner or later his uber droid will die or need repairing.
This nerf will ruin my character, and ruin the game for me. It wouldnt be so bad if you could fix it fast, but I dont want to wait the 329843478532293874329764238423789464.4 years it will take you to fix the DE class.
