Droid Certs still mean your building droids for one class only aint that what your against?

TH: "The Cert system will not work. With a cert system, all the combat in the game would have to get harder and people without a Droid Cert would have a tougher game to play."

How about people without a WEAPON certification? Of course combat would be harder if you did not have a certification. Sheesh! But, you cannot say the game would be harder. This is also a game of crafters and support professions such as chef and entertainer and medic etc... etc...

So, make droids as powerful as a medium creature or a good Rifle or whatever.

Another thing, we are not talking just about droids as combat buddies. What happend to all the "Star Wars"yness of having droids that actually facilitate the daily lives of players? Storage, power, medical, crafting, slicing, repair, datastorage, etc... etc... Where is this going to fit in? Will itEVER happen?

There is a problem with a droid cert based on Elite professions.

The market for non-ch pets will be dead and so will the majority of a BE"s business...

If this is what TH has to deal with, then gezz do I feel for that guy! NONE of you are making any sense!

1. No to DH, but yes to Certs (We dont want to make DH only droids, but im ok with making droids for the people who have the Certs for it? Ummmm what?)

2. DE's should make the droids and use them (No, cause the DE is an Uber Profession)

When you start making sense, and set out clearly what you want, then maybe I can "Grasp" the issue.

No, pets are about half of a BE's business. Have a look at all the BE clothing out there as well as the various chef supplements (which will be getting in even greater demand after the Chef revamp coming in this next patch). In addition, why should CHs be the main staple of a business in the first place? So long as droids are not better than high-level CH pets, those that want to do big tanking missions would have the option of taking either CH or DH, depending on whether they prefer to work with critters or droids.

If you would actually read the cert system, you would find that it spans ALL the classes.

The problem with the analogy is that weapon certifications exist within a specific profession tree. You don't get certified for a flamethrower by being a good chef. If you make a droid cert system similiar to a weapon cert system, you know what you get? A DH profession.

The problem with the opposite approach to droid certs - spreading them throughout all professions - is that it's potentially easy to exploit, and that it unbalances the game by giving higher-level pets (I hate to call them that, but in the game system that's what they are) to PCs that did not spend any effort learning to use them. So you want to give the certs to just master professions? Or just to combat professions? That means the strong get stronger and the weak keep cloning. THAT's what TH is saying when he says it makes combat harder.

I'm still not in favor of a DH profession. I'm also not in favor of a cert system. I'm also not in favor of DE-only combat droids. I'd rather see us make a couple different CL10 or lower combat droids and concentrate on making the rest of our droids more useful.

I think it's inevitable no matter what happens with this situation.

People are starving for more droids. Star Wars = Droids.

If given the choice between a creature pet and a droid of the exact same level (damage, abilities, etc), i would think most would choose the droid in this type of game setting.

Well, if you take two different quotes from two people who don't even agree on what the issue is, then of course there is going to be a contradiction. duh. people disagree. nothing new about that.
