I smell Holocron ALL over this. Too bad none of the decision makers seem to have the mindset that it would be a good idea to actually step into this thread and **gasp**...

Communicate with us. (heaven forbid.)

I know that you don't make the decision. However, you DID make the decision to post information on our future that you knew (or should have known) to be patently false.

Drashk outright told you that this was NOT desired. And you posted that it would happen anyway.

Why do we all post our comments and "constructive" ideas here at all, if you all have decided what you will do, despite what we suggest?

This is just yet another example of the playerbase not being listened to...I swear, I don't know when you all will learn.

I dont know what decision the dev team will make but I have told them that the community:

  • Clearly doesnt like the idea of a DH profession

At least we're finally on the same page with that. I, along with many others here, will impatiently await your explanation of why we appear to have been blatantly lied to regarding our desired future (and the possible implementation of it).

  • Prefers the idea of Droid Certifications

Yea...as we (and Drashk) had told you, many times. When does it sink in that we need to actually have people pay attention, close attention, to what we are discussing?

I think this entire scenario upsets me more on the communication front than talking about DH vs. Droid Certs.

The problem with Droid Certs is that it would raise the combat bar and there would have to be a lot of rule changes.

Read: "We don't want to do the work it would take to resolve the problems we put in place by mis-implementing the profession from the outset and fixing design problems that webrought on ourselves."

I know "Dev-speak", TH....that's what you just said.

I'm working with the team now to pull together some information on all the problems a cert system would bring. Either myself or Runsabre will post on it today.

How about someone posting that actually understands our professions arguments, issues, comments and concerns? I've not personally ever seen that happen (since the start of beta 3).

What, exactly, will it take for us to get real information?!?

Perhapse we could all (you Devs and Us players) understand this issue alot better if we defined WHAT a combat droid is.

It seems alot of us are saying CL12,15, or 25 and that you devs might be thinking bigger.

I cannot see a need for >CL15 combat droids myself. they were not that powerful in the movies. And in the Star Wars EU it's more typical that someone reprogrammed a repair or there was even a protocal droid and handed em a blaster.

I think if we could define the Scope of what contituitesthe combat droid range, we could all speak more intellegently on the matter.

As it stands we might be talking about apples and SOE is developing oranges.

And if you vote for B, well then your an Uber Class that can build and use its own combat droids. Choice B is not gonna happen, cause then you would have DE/TKA/Fencer like crazy. B will not be done, B cannot be done, cause B will unblance the game in a huge way.

A is your only choice for the Heavy Combat Droids.

TH, can you please just tell us why you thought we wanted a DH profession?

We all know it isn't up to you. The "you" is you as in SOE. You are their representative - that is your job.

However, the statement that a cert system was not possible came awfully **edit** fast. It seems to many like a snap, knee-jerk response.

I would advocate that you pass along Dashak's post as an example of how the cert system could be spread over the professions.

Also, note that you could cap the cert system, so that the points couldn't be stacked. This would prevent the type of exploiting that you seem to be afraid of.

As noted, aren't you reworking the entire combat system anyway?

Thunderheart - I know how you are caught between a rock and hard place - but how about getting the "Community Relations Manager" on in this forum ?

New combat droids are going to be negated by the hardship of only selling to one class - the cost/benefit just isn't going to be worth it for most DEs.

The above is a good point, and a good argument for adding Certs for Utility Droids throughout the existing, appropriate professions.

Lodacai

Bah, to correct myself, the quote was about combat droids, not utility droids as I replied.

Certs for combat droids would work, but only as horizontal, optional skill boxes that appear at certain elite levels of otherexisting professions, requiring the expenditure of skill points. Note that these optional droid certifications should have no bearing on the mastering of the existing profession, but rather only serve as an enhancement, at a skill-point cost, to that profession.

If that is the case GamerProX, then we are not being offered any option... there is going to be a DH class if there are new combat droids. Therefore the discussion is already over, there will be a new class and no amount of discussion will change that.

Well, nothing like going into discussion with the Devs with an open mind is there? Make sure you get the answer YOU want TH, never mind the customers eh?

On a positive note why not try pulling some info in what is possible, rather than what problems it will bring. I knew Runesabre when he worked on UO and there's no doubt that if he wanted to, he could work wonders.

Whats with the negative vibes man?

How about you pull together some information about how and in what manner it is possible for DROID ENGINEERS to use DROIDS?

I spoke to Blair about all the pain on this issue and we're going to have Runsabre put up an uberpost this afternoon.

I dont really see another choice my man. CH's have to spend skill points to get their Rancor. Players are gonna have to spend skill points to get their Destroyer Droid. I want DH over CH any day of the week!
