Thread: resource requirments for new meds..for those thinking of doing BE crafting
It dosent mater how long these enhancers last realy....With all those ungodly boring to get resorces nobody will make them. Expectialy considering they just ENHANCE what a doc can do with Majic. Those things will not even double our ability most likely. And considering our buffs will be about 20-30% the enhancer part of that wont be all to big of a chumk. So some doc goes out and rounds up enough stuff to get a set of enhancers.
Assumeing that our default "Majic" buff is 20% and the guy were buffing has 3000 health. Wow now its 3600 health with our buffs. Also assumeing that the enhancers give us another 10%....most likely being made out of godly resorces. (wich we will never get...you will be glad to get any fish much less good fish) Now your super uber enhancer buffs that health to a woping 3900 !!!!!!!!!!!!! a whole 300 more hp !! This means that the few DAYS that doc spent rounding up all the odd crap he would need to get a full set of enhancers for his skills....Days for a piss poor 10%....you have got to be kidding me.
I Know the enhancers wont do much more than 10% If they make buffs anything close to what they are now (and we all know they wont and most of us can accept the resoning) buffs would be mandatory. They will not make buffs mandatory...Buffs should simply modify combat to the point where you can take a mob a little higher than before. With such a little return on free majic buffs why would you bust your ass to get another half ontop of your little buff.
Perhaps if buffs were this hard to make from the beginning though the combat would not have seemed so unbalanced. But with them this hard to make now the price we would need to charge is not worth the modest reward to the player.
There is only so much a 10% boost is worth no mater how long it lasts.

On Lok, snorbals give milk. Currently these are a CL19-34 (swgcreatures.com) so let's hope they play nice. Remember to warm your hands, and watch your back for gurks, pirates, corsairs, thugs, dragons...
Just reading through the list again and I can honestly say "ouch".

4) It also means that once we are out of deeds we are going to have to spend at least 500cpu or more on Mollusk for example. And it also means that those who are not blessed with dozen of resource deeds as well as starters and new players will have no chance to break into the market at all.

edit - I will add one more thought. The result I expect out of this is that the enhancers simply won't get made. It is very rare to see Taming tissues or Petstim D's on a vendor, since the profit just isn't worth the effort in making them. Yes, you can find the resources for these and yes, people will pay lots of $$ to have them and will be happy to use them, but in the end, playing this game is about having fun. Let's be honest, harvesting milk or eggs or fish is not fun, so regardless of how much people are willing to pay for the products, it's not going to be a Fun > 0 proposition to make these things.

I agree with your edit.
If the reward give by the final product is not worth crafting it then it will not get made. Pets are not easy to make by any means but the reward is there so they get made.
I very much suspect that Enhancers will be rare based in these resouces and I think that is a good thing.

As a current Bio-Engineer, I can't stop laughing. I also want to cry - the devs have lost it.Apparently they are either:
1) Trying to stop so many Docs from becoming BEs, driving the current BEs insane in the process
2) Trying to make meds impossible to obtain, driving prices up into the 100k a stack range
3) Trying to drive dedicatedcrafters from the game
I feel for you, and myself - I WILL NOT be making this crap as a BE. I have much better thing to do with my time than gather all this stuff on top of the HUGE resource requirements we already have supplying chefs. (that's if chef is worth a damn after the CU....) If they mess pet crafting up, which is likely since all their damage and armor has to change yet, I'm gone....
Bio-Engineer was fun and relaxing, altho not very profitable - now it's a waste of skill points and pure frustration.
With these new very difficult to obtain resource requirements, I fear that most BE's will feel this way - including our current Docs who planned to switch over to BE.
It is also going to severely drive up the prices we have to pay for these meds/buffs/enhancments. Which will in turn cause us to charge more for our services to cover the ungodly price we had to pay. Which will have people claiming (yet again) that we are all just money hungry and only in the profession for the income.
