im about half way through MD myself and im usually pretty good at responding to /tells, especially when most of them are asking for buffsi can not even make or use yet (the good stuff)... a few times it's become nessary to remove my title all together and make myself anonymous so i can't be found using the search function if im busy... but im usually pretty good about going to a patient if im nearby since i still need medical xp and do randomly heal people for freeat the ticket droid if im waiting for a shuttle...occasionally i get atipof around 1k or so for which im very thankful for...good thing i made some crates of all the woundpacks and stims to carry around else i don't think i would be as generious using them and when i finally MD i dunno if i would still do it at all unless they were nice... quite a few times i have given outfree stims and woundpacksto novice medics sitting in the med center so they can heal more then 10 wounds at a timesoim not taking all the XP...

anywaysomething golden happened to me ingame eariler today that i just had to share...

so im on my way to some vendor to buysome deeds and i usually stop at any vendors on the way to checkout if they got anything interesting... so i pop into a tent and there was someone already there and i go straight to thevendors to look andi get to the last one which theni see the "CAN YOU HEAL ME" all in caps... so i select the guy and see the large black in his HAM and preceed to /diag, respond with "Yes i can heal you" (even though he was alittle rude), andpull out my droid and goto work... he has like 300 or sowounds on each primary stat and like 30 on each of the secondaries from dieing 3 times it looks like, so about 8 wound heals laterhe is all healedand im heading on my way out when he asks me: "DO YOU HAVE 10000 TO SPARE" he says in his composite armor...

and i might've actually given the money to him too if he had been nicer about it...

another short one... so im hunting on dant and get a /tell from someone like 2.5k away that is dead and needs to be revived, cause they are using their friends armorwhich they aren't allowed to let it decay any... for which i nicely explain im busy in a group hunting right now and i can't really just leave them to go out and revive them... so then he says he will pay me and being the nice guy that i am i get on my bike and go out to the spot really quick to take care of it... when i get there he is LD and i can't get grouped or consented cause he is the leader of their group and from my side it looked like he was wearing only 1 piece of composite armor on his arm...

when i got back to my orginal group it had fallen apart and like half the people had left...

Master Doc on eure/chim

i can honestly say ive never ignored a tell yet and thankfully have never yet had an abusive reply when ive had to decline buffing due to being totaly out of buff packs, but im pretty sure that time will come in the future sometime.

As for my title i always have it on, if im out hunting herb/avian i put on my afk message letting people know what im doing and it also points out that if i stop gathering before i have enough then i just cant buff no more. As for starports, most of the time im running through plannets im off to empty my harvesters and always have betty my trusty droid with me as im more than happy to pause 2 or 30 mins to buff those that ask me, i dont mind taking time out to help, when the effort is made to be courtious those same people are the ones that will keep coming back to you in the future.

The biggest pain i have is with tells for resses, some people find it hard to grasp the timer thing and dont see why i cant struggle through tatooine lag and make it to the krayt zone from naboo in 4 mins to ress before the timer gets them, they just refuse to belive there is a time until i turn up 10 mins later to wave to them as they clone *grins* brutal but often the best way to prove this point.

I love this thread. I feel everyone's pain.

I was one of the first Novice Architects on Starsider after launch. I, of course, was proud and wanted to show off my title...

BIG MISTAKE.

I got dozens of tells every hour "Can j00 maek PA hallz?!?!1"

I'm planning on becoming a doctor after my holo-grinding, and unless I want money, I won't buff or have my title on unless for Guildies or friends. It's just not worth it, IMO.

Drag your ticket onto the quickbar and make a macro that hits the button every x seconds and go afk..

something like:

/ui action toolbarSlot00 <--Slot00 = first toolbar slot (F1) where ticket is

/pause 3 <-- time to pause until the ticket is tried again

/ui action toolbarSlot01 <--Slot01=second toolbar slot (F2) where your macro is

Uh, so WE don't want it, and YOU don't want it in for PvP--then why is it still there??

I disagree strongly.

The profession tags are not adverts for buffing.

They are like badges. You should be able to wear it and not be harassed. You earned it, you can show it whenever you want.

(I try never to wear any tags, because I don't like them, but hey).

For an example of why some Master Docs rarely have their MD tag up (heh, Master Doc...MD...M.D...okay, nevermind.), if you're on Bloodfin, put your MD tag up and head to the Dant Mining Outpost during a "busy" time of the server, usually 4 pm to 11 pm, EST. You'll put your tag off right quick, I guarantee it.

I was recently in Anchorhead, just doing some in-town stuff, storing items, etc...when I notice -Canes- standing there in front of the shuttle port. He /tells me, asking for buffs in a manner,,,that could have been more polite. Now, I'm sure -Canes- is a great guy IRL, but I've seen him in-game quite a few times and his manner was never polite. People don't realize, but Doctors do take notice of player behavior. So, he /tells me with a request for buffs, and I reply, "no." He proceeds to grill me why, and I tell him precisely why I won't; because his behavior in-game is deplorable. He then tells me that I'm weakening the profession by refusing to give him service, telling me that's "poor business." He says he can go to a handful of other Docs and get buffed. I tell him that's fine. I'm not buffing. It seemed he thought that "other Docs" comment was a threat.

It wasn't, lol. I only recently started buffing when my factory became available. But, yeah. He tells me how I missed out on 15k for not buffing him, and how he's going to go to another Doc.

I tell him go ahead, because it doesn't bother me in the least. Heh, he shut it after that.

Like Zarlor said, people think they have Docs as their own personal lapdogs, coming whenever they need them. We're not. Onlyfor my friends will I take a Swoop bike out to the middle of nowhere to Rez. The only other time I am willing to make those long trips is when players ask nicely.

Modesty and pleasantry go a long way, everyone. I'd advise all who depend on Docs to look into that. ^_^

Honestly, and while this may not be what we should be doing, some of us get so many tells while at the starports for buffs etc. we don't even look at them anymore. Is this "the right thing to do" - well to some maybe not - but to others they are paying their 20$ a month to not respond to you/ignore you (kind of like how I am with telemarketers). Now I for one don't wear my Master Doc tag much - but others do and if they don't want to answer you - well that's their perogative.

This is perfectly valid and you do what I would expect anyone to do. If someone gets so many tells that they have to ignore them why do they have there tag on? I get tells from friends in game and I would assume a Master Doc would also. You still have to read all the tells to see who it is from.

Taking off your tag if you aren't afk and aren't buffing is just common curtisy. I really do think those that don't bring down your entire profession. A medic is a support character by nature, same thing as a merchant. There are many ways to notify everyone around you that you are a certain profession. It isn't hard to turn those things off when you don't want to be bothered. You can even macro most of them if your extremely lazy.

So I should not have Master Tag if I need app points?

As a new Master Doctor I have spent a lot of time and money aquiring the resources I have to make half way decent enhance packs.

My avian meat is PE 974 OQ 761 (quite good imo) and that 3k stack took a long time to get...this is all the avain meat I have atm. Do I want to use this for others to make cash? No. Will I use it for myself and my guild who helped me get it, yes.

If the price of GOOD avian wasn't running so high I would be happy to sit in Coronet or Theed buffing the day away taking every "john doe's" cash from them for buffing. If customers want to offer me that meat in return for buffs (high quality stuff) I will gladly trade meat for buffs or even 6k for the buffs and a discount on the meat at no higher than 10 cr per unit....otherwise I have a combat char who will go get it herself and use for herself and her guild.

Normally I do not wear my Master Doc tag, it has been that way from day one. I wear my Novice Dancer tag. Most of the time I keep my buff packs in the bank as I carry a lot of dancing clothes with me as well and I can buff myself for dancing at the bank and store them there.

That is really funny, people that wear thier Master Dr tag are rude?

No people that expect a Master Dr to constantly reply to tells and that they exist only to buff you, as if you are owed something is rude.

because buffing is not fun if i wher my tag i am in group doing a mission so the groups know i can heal and revive sell a buff is not worth it some of us think it is worth it and sell buffs for 6k most of us dont think it is worth it and r doc/ combat profession i do 7k mission with my own buffs i basically am a master doc so i dont have to serch for one i suppose it is silly but it is too hard to find someone buffing and it is amazing that the buff market dosent pay enough to make it worth my time

Not a Master Doctor yet, but I *STILL* get tells from people asking to buff them. If they're within 50-150m away, I'll do it, but the other night I got a tell from some idiot on Dathomir asking me to cure poison for he and his group as well as buffing their stats. The guy then pitched a fit when I told himI couldn't do it as I was in Anchorhead and I wasn't about to go so far out of my way to heal the bum. I then got a barrage from the idiot and 4 or 5 of his pals before I put them all on my ignore list and changed my tag to Novice Artisan.
