I am getting 40 minute duration buffs without a med droid.

I get 47 minute duration buffs using the med droid.

Food, clothing, enhancers have not changed this in my experience so far.

I am charging for healing/buffing gingerly in these first new days of the CU, but my clients have been understanding and appreciative. Most I have asked to tip what they wish, some have tipped nothing, several have tipped 15k. I agree that the new economy is beginning to develop and the healing will be the critical skill for those doctors that used to buff for cash. Toss in the buffing for free and we are back to 10k for a heal/buff session.

I am willing to give CU the benefit of the doubt that over time it will be fixed, but it is sure difficult to read about how poorly the devs are communicating with their consumers. My complaint is that the CU was rolled out way in advance of being ready, tested, and stable. I am wondering if the ROTW expansion required the CU to be deployed and that the impending release of EP3 was the motivating factor in the CU deployment despite the fact that the devs must have understood it was too immature for market.

Last week I was asked to provide 3 questions to the devs. In red are my questions. In green are the answers I was given. (note that I am not allowed to quote them so I am rewriting what they posted in my own words).

1. Doctor damage heals are currently very low (Adv Becta Jab, for example, only heals for 300ish points). Is this intended? A novice doc can heal damage as well as a Master.

Becta Jab was not intended to be a powerful heal, it was ment to be a quick low level heal. Doc has been balanced based on it ability to heal damage/time using several different types of heals.

2. Buffs are currently capped at 10% which is achieved at the medic level. Any chance of getting some increase as you gain skills? Currenly only gain a few minutes on duration as you gain skills which is hardly worth the extra skill points.

The regen buffs should make the skill points worth while

3. Med Exp issues. As a solo player med exp is split between combat (since you have to kill the mob to get the exp). Any chance that the amount of Med exp can be qual to weapons exp given without cutting each in half? So that if you kill a mob and it is worth 1k of exp that you get the 1k of med and 1k of weapons exp rather than 500 of each? Also, please provide a method of getting Med exp outside of combate. Many docs role play a non-combat doc. I suggest Wound Healing.

We chose not to give free exp to avoid afk play. We will not be going against that goal.

We will not be doubling the Med exp.

I can not express how utterly unempowered I feel at this time.

I would comment further but I am going to go for a long run with my dog and try to burn off some of my anger and frustration. My only good news is that the Respec is still available.

1. Fine...

2. They call that an answer ?!?!?!?! They should of just told you to go f*** yourself, that would of at least been honest :/

3. There you have it, the devs obviously don't play the game.

So how does that answer the "how do we get to 20% question?

As near as I can figure, it falls under the gotcha of "short term = 20%, long term = 10%." Specifically, look to chef food buffs. They're all very short term (~10 min max for most) and buff one or more stats for around 20%.

They promised that short term buffs would be 20%. They didn't promise that we would deliver the short term buffs.

(I also question "long term" and "40 minutes" being used in relation to each other, especially when the entertainer buffs run for 3 hours.)

Here is my present template... (on Intrepid)

Entertainer: 4-0-2-2

MASTER Image Designer

MASTER Medic

MASTERDoctor

Artisan: 0-0-1-0

I can respec my doc and medic, but all the points that I have poured into Entertainer, ID and Artisan are worthless!?

I did NOT ask for my profession to get the shaft! But I can't even respec myself to something NON-COMBAT (I did NOT become a Doc so I can FIGHT! and I've found that players sitting in a hospital Heal faster then my warmup/cooldown period without me!

If I could I'd pour my XP completely into all the lines for BIO Engineer at least I'd be able to master it!? Make some tailor tissues for my sister.... I HATE COMBAT! I DID NOT START PLAYING THIS GAME TO FIGHT... WHY DID THEY MAKE ME A FIGHTER!!!!

The only thing I do love about CU is they let me wear my new armor, and changed it to my present color (but seeing everyone in the same color is just stupid too)...

Oh well, what's the use. I've canceled my account and will be departing once my year-subscription is over.

Thanks for trying Marrow

And oh ye gods, why am I even contemplating keeping my doc?

The icons are so confusing.. especially in group combat, and the roleplay.. rushing to res a jedi on another planet.. buffing friends.. well RIP to that.

MARROW....I just wanted to say THANKS for what you have tried to do for us! /salute

I can only imagne how you feel after all this. It's kinda like getting kicked in the teeth every time you attempt to address an issue. But reading the post here, sounds to me that everybody stands behind you and your efforts!

As many before me have already done, it's time to decide wether to keep paying and playing something worthless, respect or just go find a new game to spend the little freetime I have. Just cannot see the need for 2 characters anymore, much less just one.

Good Luck to All!

I made a new thread in the Corrispondent Forum asking for the Hate system to be toned down a bit for heaing. I do not believe that a point of healing should equal a point of damage with regard to hate.

As the sytem stands now if your are a dedicated healer you will quickly become the dedicated tank. The person who was intended to be the tank now becomes the /taunt member who spends half thier attack rounds using /taunt which even as a TKM does not work 1/2 the time.

Maybe I will have more luck on this front.

Thanks Marrow1, you rule

Hope they listen to you this time .....

Here's my templete

Master Doc

Master Combat Medic

Novice Pistoleer

Even if your team mates use taunt (which they hardly do, ba$tards hehe) if there are 3-4 creatures attacking your group and you heal and they all attack you, your usally dead in few seconds so there is no time for them to use there taunt commands to save you.... If this was tone downsomewhat like you said, I could live with the small possiblity of the creatures doing that to me, but as it is now, they always attack you.... Try this in the DWB, always fun to have Super Battle Droids single you out for healing.

Also I read in one of the SOE posts that the creatures would always target the the most powerful person (meaning the tank person)... Don't know why the Dev's decided that a Doctor is more powerful then a Master TK. I don't remember seeing Doctor listed on there circular chart in the Tank section...

They have made this game a lot harder combat wise, and the only thing that keeps parties going is doc's that are willing to heal everyone.... Without docs combat will turn into this:

1) Attack

2) incap

3) Attack

4) incap

5) Attack

6) incap

7) Attack

8) Die

9) Clone

10) run back to your group and start again.

For example last night, I played in a group of 6 people on datooine. I kept my group alive, but I cloned over 10 times in just a few hrs of playing... This is not right...

Thanks for your help Marrow1... Stay strong !!!!!

You are either a masochist, or just extremely dedicated. I stated in another thread that I did not have confidence in you, well I fully and completely apologize for that here and now. You are doing a ton, and getting kicked between the legs for your efforts. I for one would not have retained your position as long as you have. It is thankless, and as we have now seen, hopeless.

When the Corrispondent is thankful for respec...tis a sad day.

The issue I was trying to address is not about group healing for exp. It is about solo healing for exp. Try killing a gurk solo and see how much xp you get. First you will need to be a master of a Fight class to kill it, second if you wish to kill it in a reasonable amount of time you will spend most of your time fighting and not healing. As a result you will get less than 1/10th the xp in Med xp. So in the end the only way to master doc is to do it in large groups. This is very hard to do when you play in off hours.

I was also trying to adress the issue that many docs role play a non-combat healer. (the friendly doc in the med center). There is no way to get xp this way.

It's not like people abused the system by tumble healing all the way to master in few days.... Now you gotta work for it... Don't see the problem... Besides nobody sits around the med centers anymore healing people, its boring and nobody tips docs anymore unless you buff them and being that buffs are only like 1/10th of what they used to be those tips are pretty small....

Erm it would seem you are getting listened to after all Marrow, BactaShot2 for Docs now. LOL What can I say communication doesn't seem a Dev strong point! But I guess we should be grateful that their ability to listen isn't similarlydodgy. Well done, let's hope this new skill gives us a much needed healing boost.
