Thread: charging for buffs
I charge 6k for a full set on Naritus. I think we should all raise our prices based on the costs of resources with decent OQ/PE.
Lately my buffs haven't been as spectacular as in the past, mostly due to the current resources available on Naritus. I harvest my own resources (excluding the "meats" because i recently gave up those skills to pursue fencer) and right now i am feeling the pain of low quality resources. As long as I have to rely on others to get good quality resources, I won't be making the profit that I need to continue to do business.
The end result is this: I have two choices. I can stop buffing altogether and pull up my harvesters so that I don't have to pay the crazy amounts for maintenance (4 heavy/high capacity extractors, 1 ion generator- the rest of my lots are used by factories and a hospital) OR raise my prices to account for the even crazier expense of buying those same resources at a higher quality.
Either way I'll lose business based on those individuals charging less for buffs than what I can afford as the bottom line. I am SURE that there are other docs out there that feel my pain, and I'd like to petition that we ALL raise our prices to compensate. Please post your opinions on the matter, I'd like to hear what the rest of you guys think.
Thanks,

You should all charge no less than 10 K for a whole set, and 2 K for individuals...
If you sell for less you are just loosing money for no reason...
I can sell a complete set of buffs as high as 25k in the morning hours on eclipse when doctors are sparse. I don't ask those prices, but some are just thankful for my services, I'm now asking 8k for a whole set with 910/11882 enhance D's when on Corellia.
When I hit places like LOK or Dantooine I charge 12k, because I cannot do a lot of the things that I normally would while at these locations. I also accept trades for Dantooine berries when I'm at the outposts.
I have a lot of repeat customers and yesterday I got the weirdest request. A gent came up and asked me to DB him, Rez, and enhance. He was so upset with the enhancements that he received that he trusted me to do this for him and give better enhancements. My buffs hit as high as 3800 for him in the Coronet Med center and he later reported that they did in fact last for three and a half hours. I only had one weak one on him and that hit 2200. When I finished enhancing he tipped me 20k. Later on he tipped 20k after the enhancements wore off. The character explained that he just made 180k from Dant battles and he attributed it a lot to doc's like me and wanted to share his appreciation.
It's a good and bad time for doc's right now. Maybe we can keep these prices even if the cost of resources go down.
I'm currently using all four of my factories keeping up production for myself and my vendor.

I can make some med use 89's, for custom orders, but you won't see the type of results I get. Also keep in mind that I use med enhanced clothes, and 110 surgy droid...
There's another doc selling some of the best med use 90 packs around. Forget his name on a vendor between Bestine and Anchorhead look on the Eclipse trade board.
I don't have my vendor coords handy, but you can do a cntrl-v while on Tantooine and my vendor will show up as Bryno's Drugs and Stuff.

generally i charge 6k per set (-$1000 for anything under 1200 incase of an unlucky buff) but depending on the place and material availability i charge 10k (dathomir/dantooine/endor)
i've even charged up to 25k to some rebels before... they woudln't take no for an answer and kept bugging me for buffs... so i said ok ![]()
I only use HQuality ingredients...
I pay up to 40cr per for Avian, Herbi, and Gas...
all my packs are 800+ and 12K+ duration if not i sell them on vendor for cheap ![]()
I have hundreds of repeat customers
my price always ahev been and will be as follow:
my macro:
1K per 1K buffed
0-999=0
1000-1999= 1k
2000-2999= 2k
3000+ = 3k
always work for me....
P.S. no matter how good u are you will always getthsi msg daily "these buffs sux"
=)
1k per stat enhanced is my bare minimum (6k for full) i usually get tiped more. one of my customer consistantly tips me 20k per set other tip 8-10k minimum with a few ocurances of 20-30k.
when i'm busy i usually push my prices up my regular customers are usually more understanding.
about those low rolls i offer people a reset(kill/revive) if they want as long as they pay 1k per enhance . i make sure they are well aware that enhances are random and getting good rolls even from good packs is a matter of luck. if they don't like my enhances they can feel free to go somewhere else next time.
all my packs are 880-900 power with about 3 hour 15 min duration.
First, Hi Eiwi! ![]()
"I ask 1k per attribute."
Anyonethat spends any time outside the Coronet starport hears me say that eventually. I can count on one hand the number of people in the last month that havecomplained about my price being high. I have many repeat customers, and many people pay extra. "Then I recommend you go find them," is what I tell people that claim to get a better price from someone else.
I also ask 1k per cure service, poison and disease. I decline to heal anyone that doesn't have hundreds of wounds unless they're a buff customer or they offer me a bag of cash. (10k is a bag of cash, 500cr is not) "Yes, but I prefer that you check the MC first, so they can get exp," is my response to most trivial healing requests.
I haven't charged for training yet, but I may start declining to train folks that I don't know. "I don't need the AP," is how I plan to respond and perhaps they'll take the hint. I pay anyone that trains me, as they're saving me a trip to theNPC money-sink.
I toyed with the idea of charging more for my buffs when I bought my +25 wound treatment smock, sincemy buffing is now 1-3k per attribute. I have decided not to increase my price yet, believing fully in "lower cost sells more units." When I can make my own buffs (I buy them right now) and they're 900+ power, 3+ hrs duration I'll consider a price hike again. Most likely, I'llkeep the purchased packs to buff at my current price, and hold the best stuff back as a "premium" service, priced appropriately.

This causes each charge to cost roughly 900. High quality avian meat in large quantities can cost around 45cpu. The gas is usually 25 cpu. I get the water and other resources at much lower costs, but our profession is not cheap.
Those who realize this and appreciate the work it takes are the people who might tip us over 20k. I get a lot of repeat customers as well. Some will even travel from other planets just to get my buffs while I rarely get complaints since I've never buff'd for less than 1100.
However, last night I got some she I it on Dantooine. Someone said, ha I can get my buffs for 6k while I was buffing for less than usual last night at 8k, because some of the hunters were gonna bring back some meat for me. How nice! I told the fool that charging 6k for buffs is too low because thats what it costs to make the good enhance packs. So you usually get what you pay for or the prices will go up because the cheaper buff folks will realize that they are loosing money.
