Thread: Does anyone have any finite info on the upcomming buff nerf?

I've been a doc about 9 months, my primary income has never been buffing. I like to Solo in PvE myself and everything talked about (by SOE staff) for the CU sounds good.

I only have one single concern for the Doctors.

If we could get an "official" statement from Tiggs or TH it would be nice.

My concern is wether buffs are being changed/adjusted or flat out replaced.

The reason for this concern is, I was a BE when it was revamped and every food additive I had in crates was destroyed. The crates no longer functioned and I had to delete them. I understand WHY it was done, it just would have been nice to know it was going to happen so I could have moved my stock.

I would like to know that the current buff kits I have in crates will still be usable after CU. If not, I really hope Tiggs or someone will tell us so we can use up any we currently have crated.

I have seen nothing firm to lead me to believe they will be replaced, but I haven't seen anything that would lead me to believe my current buff kits will be usable either. So for now, my plan is to use up every kit I have and only make very small factory runs from now on.

I was just commenting on what I had read in another post that was posted by the devs for publish 11.3. It states that stat buffs are to max out at 15%. Now I don't know if there was a mistype in the post or that some type of new buffs were coming out that were supposed to be a max increase of 15%. I am just commening on what I read. I did jump online briefly yesterday and buffed myself and noticed that the buffs have not changed.

I think you misread. The publish 11.3 comment was referring to the loot revamp, and was referring to looted items that could give stat buffs - it is totally unrelated to Doc buffs.

I quote:

Same as the Skill Mod Buffs, they should be temporary (five, ten minutes) and they should be reasonable. They should have minor (1-15%) increases to your stats for a short period of time.

Generally speaking (I am not in Sandbox, but I do know a little from here and there), Doctor buffs are not going to provide the same insane numbers that they currently do (and all kidding aside, 250-300% of my normal HAM is rather insane). They are doing that to prevent people from over-grinding, to make PvP less dependant on buffs (where they will be an advantage rather than a NECESSITY), and to encourage people to consider their armor more closely (expect armor to be reduced in effectiveness as well).

All that being said, Doctors will still be a very well provided for profession, and the buffs, though less breathtaking in their scope, will still be enough of an advantage that people will pay for them. I don't have any hard numbers or ratios regarding the revamp, only general concensus that while buffs are being made less crucial for basic combat, they will always have a steady demand.

Setting PVP aside from this discussion, they better lower the HAM and the damage that is done by all NPC's and creatures in the game then. Because it will be completely pointless to go hunt things like elder's then. It just wouldn't be worth the time or the effort to go out in a group of 20 and hopefully and that is a very very big hopefully kill an elder. The loot that you currently get from this is just not worth it when you could go out in a group of possibly 5 and kill a lower level NS and loot something that is almost as good.

I think the most important thing to remeber is the game has been running the way that it is right now for the most part for almost an entire year. Putting this into perspective the game is probably going to be around no longer than maybe another 3 to 4 years before the new games totally wipe this game out. That being said about one quarter to one fifth of the life of the game is over with and the players are used to a certain game play. When you make changes that are this big to the game and change the whole concept of game play, you are going to have a large part of the community upset. Now you could say so what there are new players joining to replace the old ones. That statement would have been true about a year or so ago, however with the insurgence of new games like EQ2 and other games that are MMORPG the gaining of new accounts is not going to over come the amount of accounts that are lost due to frustration. End result you kill the game in an attempt to make the game play better because you don't like the way the game is currently running.

If anyone has looked recently in the development forum there is a thread entitled What is going on with combat? Part 2. If you have time I would suggest going there and reading what is talked about. Just a short summary there is at this time approximately 16 pages of very upset, mostly veteran players about the changes that are taking place in the game. CU being the topic of this post.

If you have a chance please read the thread in the development forum.

I have a follow up question that would not break any sort of NDA.

In the process of give and take between end users (sandbox testers and correspondants) and the development team, is it more take then give?

Do you feel that your concerns and issue'sare being adequatelyaddressed and heeded? Is it more of a steam rolling process.

Thanks,

It's morelike the devs said'Overload them with info and then go silent and see if they 'splode!'.

We're still in a waiting period at the moment, discussing and debating every tidbit of information given. But I forsee the same level of interaction we had during the JTL Beta, which really was amazing.

Yeah,I want to get a 200% mind buff from a dancer!

Wait, those were always static, nevermind..

A "slightly varied" range is "ok", but the old system was way crazy.

Still no comments on wether the current buff kits will be rendered useless or not.

You heard wrong.

Heck we don't even know how the HAM system will work anymore. There might be a chance that our new speeders are really pink banthas. There's even a chance people will want to be ranged instead of melee *GASP!
