Thread: Why dont Docs answer tells ? (rant)
To be honest, I ignore them for the most part too. I simply get too many and I'm usually busy with guildmates or friends. However, I've often buffed someome for free or next to nothing simply because of the way they asked or their attitude. So it's never really been a money factor for me so much as time.
But I do agree with the original poster that some sort of reply is deserved, especially if the original /tell was polite.
>major pet pev of mine are ungrateful people thatyou buff. I buffed this one guy for 5 his stats were over >2500, and one was 900+, he wanted a refund for the bad buff....
Heh, when that happens, and they are rude about it, I tell them it's bad karma. Their attitude affects their buff and if it's bad, then the buff is bad. You won't believe how many people accept this as fact![]()

Additional info for al the OMG you are so rude posts:
All the docs i asked where for over 10 minutes in front of the starport. Not at the ticket collector or inside.
They all had their Master Doc tag up.
Hi, canI pls buy buffs from you ? was what I asked, If this is rude, ok, put me on your ignore list.
And yes, I was shouting WTB doc buffs from time to time.
I am Novice Pikeman,I dont get exp in groups since the mobs die before I hit them, p,
I can solo blue mobs that give between 100 - 300 exp per kill unbuffed, its realy impressiv if you need 250k for the next box
.
Coming here to start this whine thread didn't give the impression that you were very friendly in-game.. /shrug
The point still stands, however, try actually talking to Doctors as players, not Buff-O-Matics ("Been on any good hunts lately?" "What is the best herbivore meat in shift right now and do you need/want any?" etc). Making friends with a few Docs should be relatively easy if you're not as rude/frustrated as you seem here. There have been countless posts by Doctors here saying they'll help people get buffs (1) if they know that person beyond "Can I pls get a buff?" tells, and/or (2) that person is/has been polite to them.
Seems pretty simple to me..
I am a Master Doctor on Bria and i am guilty of not answering tells. There are 2 reasons a why:
1) I am getting about 50 tells a minute and it is impossible for me to keep up. most tells interupt me replying another tell.
2) I don't have time to respond to a tell from someone with a overly complicated name. keep it simple people. Im not gonna type a tell to Eargkhsdfoughasd or XX-XX-XX-L33T-XX-XX. forget that. people with stupid names get ignored too. sorry.
I had a few people that wanted me to go to them. My reply was that I can't because I am buffing people here. They came a few minutes later. I did not have 1 problem. I was grateful for that. I even got a TEF from one guy and he stayed to protect me until it wore off. (It's great being beautiful *flips hair* *giggles*)
I had a person offer to tumble for me. I turned it down, I'd rather have kept buffing people. I went though I think 2 packs of 27 for each stat roughly 150k XP I think in about 2.5 hours. I still had people /t me all night asking for more buffs. If I had not been in my PLayer City Role-playing I would have done it.
Overall, it was a great experience. Met some great people, put a lot of "spammers" on ignore *hehe* Anyway, kindness goes a long way and I hope that what I did yesterday was more than just "free buffs" to those people. I know it was for me.
I'm a new MD and don't have all the resources to make my own packs so I have to buy them. I'm enjoying buffing currently. I usually go to the Coronet med center to buff tho. Coronet starport is too laggy. I shouted my buffing and price and someone said that was too much. I was at tusken fort and could have been attacked at any time. So that persons buff price went way up.
I have a different appreciation for Docs though because I wasn't always a Doc. I used to hunt a lot and was a supplier of avian meat for a couple of doctors. I got free buffs before I went out to get some meat and was paid well when I returned with the meat. But I only went out if they said they were getting low or if some uber meat has shifted in. They tell me what planet and what to kill and after a buff, I was off.
So I can see it from both sides. The tells can get annoying though.
One friend I have that is also a master doc, always has himself AFK. and his afk message is what he charges for buffs and that he might not be available at the time but he'll be back shortly. Seems to work. I think it's so funny when I see people bitch about a master doc that just logged or that is afk. It's not like they "owe" you a buff. They have other things to do as well.
I haven't had any demanding to be buffed yet but I'm sure it's coming. I'll do it of course, if the price is right. lol
I was the first Master Doctor on Shadowfire... I was also the first to remove my MDoc tag. The tells are hell really. I love to help people and do so whenever I can, but I can't always do that and after awhile of getting BS thrown in my face b/c I can't help someone... it gets old.
This is a long standing issue... if the general populous would treat those of us they depend on so much better than they do, we would be much more receptive to tells and the such. At least, this is the feeling for me. I've since dropped Master Doc in favor of holocrons [ugh...] but I will be getting it back when I'm done.
Get treated like **edit**, but what can I say... I like helping people, it's my nature.
Now before someone gets ugly, I was not bothered at all to do this for them. I was just crafting at the time. I just think people need to get out of the mind-set that they need a Doctor ALL the time when a Medic can do a similar job just as effectively.
I've taken to logging out with "Novice Medic" instead of "Master Doctor". This way if I forget to change it back when I log in, it avoids the spam.
A couple of months ago most of my income was made buffing folks for 6k a pop on Rori, Dantooine or Endor. I'd go out to Endor during Pubam days and get a line of 8 or 10 people almost immediately. With some regular customers who paid extra, I'd bring in 100k in an hour or so. At the time, that was big money. I wasn't selling stims yet so that's how I got paid. Had some individuals who'd pay 10k for a buff and 10k each for his two grauls.
Now, I buff guildmates for free and others very seldom. I'm in a dedicated roleplaying guild, and there's nothing I love more than being involved in some intense RP scene in the cantina with a roomful of people, only to be interrupted by the timeless request "r u buffin?". *rolls eyes*
As others mentioned, the sporadic quality of the buffs is another factor, especially when high quality avian is rare. It's just not worth my time arguing with people who aren't satisfied because a random die roll gave them a buff of 3010 followed by a buff of 814. I sometimes think the only people who sympathize are the smugglers, who have the same problem with random slicing.
As a Master Doctor/Master Combat Medic, I don't really hunt, myself, so I don't buff myself. I don't get involved in faction fighting. Doctor/CM is my character's RP, his identity, so I'll never give it up. But I don't have time to answer every single tell for buffs. I'd rather spend my time roleplaying and crafting crates of stims for sale.

Why I don't answer the buff tells...
Let's see 2800 tells in 2 minutes of logging on (ok it is actually 45), ALL from the farthest reaches of the world, all from **edit**-holes wanting me to pay 7800 credits to fly to them, having me buff them, and then have the ungratefull SOB b**ch about how he can get 3000+ hits from Doc so and so for only 1k.
3000+ hits on all stats all the time **edit** ever fellow. All for 1k, **edit** ever fellow.
Afterpaying out 600,000 credits a weekfor med supplies, spending ALL my time in med centers healing all of you meat-heads for free (YOU are in a hurry and YOU are the all important one), being dissed after the free heals, being expected to give out crates of stim C's, D's, and E's for free, then getting slapped or PvP'd because I didn't give them out for free, being slammed about expensive 5-10k buffs, you wonder why I don't answer tells. OK, I get paid when...
You are running 40k missions on Dantooine, with full composite, Flamethrower, and speederbike, after leaving your personal private PA hall for a house. Artisans charging 100k+ for miners and 50k for speeders, Weaponssmiths charging 25K-50K for a decent weapon, Armoursmiths charging 600,000k for ADV composite, Scouts selling meat for 2500cpu, and I am the one that is jacking up the prices to a gross, greedy, price gouging, monopolistic-Bill Gates number.
And you wonder why I don't answer tells. I would bust you in the mouth, if you asked me that in real life, while standing next to me.
