one guy even told me one day that he only wanted all buffs at 2k or higher per stat, and i tried to explain to him that i cant guantee that all of them will be like that, and he told me to stuff it.thats gratitude for ya.

This is another topic entirely and a pain in my ass as well. I haven't been able to get my buff packs aboce 720ish and so I get that occasional 700 buff and the inevitable complaint or chuckle (depending on how cool the person is, or conversely how mush an ***hole they are). I am to a point I need a disclaimer macro to let them know that I cannot control the variability of the buffs and that if they have issues with it that they need to contact SoE.

It is also fun when on one person I get a 2000K buff and then on a second person 2 minutes later with the same buff pack I get 670. It sucks so much.

I do my best to answer tells, even if it's just a "Not right now"but sometimes it's impossible to get them all, especially if your in theed or coronet and in the middle of tells or guildchat to 4 or 5 people and the sixth just gets by you. You see it, finish your tells, can't remember the name and oh god the chat is scrolling up so fast you just give up because now you've got another 4 or 5 tells.

Also I find myself swamped for time between surveying, feeding harvestors, making sure my factories are working, trying to rouse up some avian meat from folks, etc. especially when there is a resource shift. Many times I have only an hour online to accomplish a great deal and I just don't have the time to respond to every tell.

Buffing isn't worth iteven at 10k a pop. Why should I spend hours, yes - hours, waiting for factory runs to finish and trying to find a decent amount of QUALITY avian meat to create packs for a majority that spam tell "I need buffs"?

It is way more efficient and FUN to use the buffs on myself and run missions/sell resources. I mean, toss a few quality harvesters down and your already making more than the buffs are worth - and not really harrassed for it other than the occasional "Your prices are too high, I'll give you 4cpu..."

While those harvesters are running you are free to go run missions, fully buffed, and have just as much fun as the combat class would have had - plus makingextra more profit. I figure I make atleast 1k per minute running missions, plus another 350c minumum for resources per minute. Why sit somewhere being bored (waiting for mind to regen and spammers to spam) when you can use your medical capabilities to have fun AND make even more money?

I wear my Master Doc tag - I earned as every bit as much as that Master Commando earned theirs. I will help people if I feel like it based completely on whether I want to bother. I still have a lot of distate for a majority of the combat "professionals" remaining from the process of becoming a master doc trying to help the public in the med center. That's a whole different issue though. My macro is polite about buffs "/r Sorry, I don't sell buffs."

Unless i'm buffing i make my character unsearchable and remove my title. When i log back in, however, my "master doctor" title comes back (don't know if this is just me, or if it's a problem everyone has). If i was stupid enough to log out in a busy place by the time i'm loaded, i've already got five people asking for buffs.

Now if i haven't got anything else to do, i'll whip out mr. droid and make 6k off of each and every one of you. but please understand that sometimes i'd like to go hunt with friends or something.

i'm convinced the only way to get more tells per hour in this game is to walk around with "holocron vendor" written over your head.

The title not sticking with No Title on logoff is a definite problem, especially for Docs, and it's on our list of issues. It just doesn't rate up there with things like the HAM Sticking bugs, On Fire Cure and resource gathering p[roblems we have.

I don't currently have a MD tag to put up.. But I do have several of the level IVs (not crafting lol.. I don't grind).

I'm a jerk, and I'll spend my time sending tells back to people explaining why I won't buff them, why they are going on my ignore list, and why exactly my prices are so high.

I don't haggle prices (though I do take stuff in trade). I charge more for buffs then most MD on my server. (15k btw.. not my Chilastra characters btw).

Part of the problem is the expectations of players... "I need a buff." Well I need 25 cr. a unit to make the **edit** things these days. I often don't buff myself anymore, and just fight things I'm supposed to fight at my level.

I try to work by example. With all my characters, I tip several k to entertainers for a heal.. I always pay medics / docs (Even though Texxie gives me my money back ;p). I don't buy overpriced resources (it only encourages them). When I use an ID I usually pay 5-10k (depending on how much time it takes before I stop being so picky about how I look). I try to overpay a lot for custom tailoring (I rarely buy off the rack).

In RL, I tip the pizza man well.. because he had to come to my house, because I was way too lazy to go out, or cook... and it is probably raining like a **edit**.

----

Sometimes I wonder why I play MMOGs... everyone thinks they deserve other people's time, money, and attention.

"you are a doctor, you must heal me/ buff me for free." no, sorry pal. 200 cr. and the stack of 500 OQ 23 hides you couldn't get anyone to buy aren't gonna cut it either.

99% of the time, it is some jerk, with 16 million credits, wearing armor that costs more then everything I own put together.

I do buff people for free though (nice, polite people).

I don't buff at starports as a rule (because I'm going someplace).

any Docs I know that Do buff at starports, don't stand at the ticket droid (which is an indicator that they are leaving).. they stand off to the side near one of the doors.

i started the master doc profession to be the doc for our guild. i was not intending to buff others outside the guild. i do carry buffs with me but if im in a hurry for the shuttle forget it. if i am on a mission and want me to leave that mission, forget it. find me inbetween and sure youcan get a buff during my down time. those that know my in game name will /t me where i am at and ask if it is ok to buff sure no prob come out to the mission and get them. maybe it is also just me but my memory is good and my "jerk" list is long. i was in beta and since public all on ahazi. my jerk list is long. if you dumped on me any where anytime since beta forget it. if your nice and i have the time you can get all the buffs you want as long as i have packs or the capability to make them

i am smuggler, fear my cork guns
episode II: i am no longer smuggler i no longer fear the cork guns or the delay on the delay for the revamp.. leave a message after the beep when revamp comes and then i shall return. but then maybe i will show them and do a delay on my return.. ha!!! take that soe (if they have not frustrated me more then i already am)

Additional info for al the OMG you are so rude posts:

All the docs i asked where for over 10 minutes in front of the starport. Not at the ticket collector or inside.

They all had their Master Doc tag up.

Hi, canI pls buy buffs from you ? was what I asked, If this is rude, ok, put me on your ignore list.

And yes, I was shouting WTB doc buffs from time to time.

I am Novice Pikeman,I dont get exp in groups since the mobs die before I hit them, p,

I can solo blue mobs that give between 100 - 300 exp per kill unbuffed, its realy impressiv if you need 250k for the next box .

If you really have that bad of an experience on your server, then I'd also think that just going the Doc route yourself and self buffing until you get up that pikeman tree would be the best route (considering you have enough SP)...I mastered doctor a looong time ago, and I'm still 3 boxes away from mastering carbineer today (although I suppose I don't kill much consistently ) Wasting the time trying to find buffs while you could work on other stuff will obviously add up (to alot of time it seems if you keep having the same luck), so might as well join the bandwagon

I don't ignore tells inquiring about buffs, unless they are moronic, like this:

"Hey man, you need to come buff me"

"**edit** does a person have to do to get a buff?"

"Hey man, make me Ubah with some buffage"

"**edit** do you mean I have to pay you 5k?"

Yeah, I am a Master Doctor and I wear the tag --and I do buff people when asked politely.

The randomness of the buffs really hurts. I don't reply to the messages or refuse themcause too many times heard ppl complain that they got 4 stats over 2k, 1 stat at 1k and one at 700. They wanted all to be over +2k, or, worse they know how to work the system and want me to wait while they log for 10 minutes to clear the buffs and I can retry them.

ITS JUST NOT WORTH IT!

Your 10k means nothing, I can make that by selling3 stacks of 300 resources on bazaar. Or selling 3 advanced wound B packs.

Don't get me wrong, I've buffed many a person, but people have got to learn that the buffs are random, and you will get a low one. Just pray its not Health or Action.

I'm nota master doc but I am a 4/4/4/1 doc because I frequently don't have time for the grind so I get ALL of my crafting XP from the meds that I am able to make well.

I wear my Medical Professor tag very proudly because I am what I would consider to bea good doc.

That being said, I have a simple solution to all of your problems. You say it's not worth your time to run around the galaxy to buff or rez and as it stands you're pretty much right. But that is your own fault. If someone sends me a tell asking for a buff my responce goes like this (regardless of politeness of the request):

blablabla tells you: Can I get a buff?

You reply:Where are you?

blablabla tells you: I'm in Moenia.

Since I'm in Theed I automatically calculate that as being about 12km away. I charge 2k per 1km away from me regardless of shuttle availability. To jump planets is automatically 30k plus the cost of the buff which is 5k.

You reply: That's going to be 5k for the buff plus 24k for me to come from Theed. (btw, this is for the TIME it takes me to get there NOT travel expenses.)

blablabla tells you: 29k for a buff!!!!!! That's stupid!!!!

You reply: Yea, it sucks but that's how much my time is worth. If you can't pay you might want to find a closer doc.

Now, I don't do this for friends or guild members but I have to say it is effective. You'll find that some will pay the price, some won't. But when they do, it pays off.

I also don't charge for healing and I don't charge for rezzing while hunting unless the person is more than 30m away from me when they die in which case the charge is 5k. The way I see it, if you are less than 30m away from me when you die, I SHOULD have been able to save you, anything more is your own fault for not staying close to the healer.

What it boils down to folks is that being a doctor is just like any other business except that as a doc you are providinga service rather than an actual product like a pistol or piece of armor. You have to set your price and stick to it. If people think they can jew you they WILL. If running allover the galaxy isn't worth your time it's your job to MAKE it worth your time, thats the way an economy works.

Just my 2 credits.
