I think anyone should be able to charge whatever they want, including you. If someone wants to give you a hard time because you're charging less than they are, put them on ignore. I think sometimes about going to Coronet and buffing for 8K, when 10K is the going price on my server. If someone started hassling me about my price being too low, I'd tell them to piis off.

At the same time, though, I sometimes think about going to Coronet and buffing for 20K. If someone started hassling me about my price being too high, I'd tell them the same thing.

It's all about economics. Supply/demand. Business ethics. Some people will overcharge (maybe they don't even see it as overchanging though) simply because they CAN. People will continue to pay high prices as long as they see it as being worth it. If buffs are worth 20k to one person, but not another, but are only worth 10k to another, then that's just how it is. Trying to set up a "galaxy-wide" price is not going to work well since it's the people getting buffed who tell the docs what's ok for a price.

It is a bit much for anyone to dictate prices to othersfor their products. That said, Eyedun has a point, talking to other Docs nearby can resolve these issues quickly. It's easy enough to see the strength of competitors buffs, just by taking a look at customers' HAMs before and after a buff,if the Doc isn't spamming stats, and adjust your price accordingly. Low-balling your competitors won't make you any friends among the Doctor community, and you lose income to boot.

Also, since premium avian meat is selling at insanely high prices, Docs are compelled to raise prices to see any margin of profits these days. The only thing I would find more boring than buffing the masses again is spending day after day hunting for the meat, so I don't. Telling Docs to change their template and play-style is not a solution. There are a lot of Scouts and Rangers out there willing to do the dirty work for me, so I'll let them.

There is no such thing as overcharge in this game, unless you have hacked SWG somehow to pull more money out of peoples bank or cash, they freely are paying what the doctor is asking. If they don't want to pay what the doctor thinks it is worth then they shouldn't buy it. Neither person is wrong, both should move along to the next customer/doctor/whatever.

No one is forcing anyone to pay for anything, and no one, especially people with 0 understanding of economics, should be trying to force people to ask a certain price for their time and effort.

I'm out in the middle of practically nowhere on Talus hunting Devil Gulingaws and mut. kahmurras and my buff runs out, sure I can take the Devils sans buff, but it's tricky and I often end up dead. I meet up with a master doc, and he buffs me without telling me a price. I tipped him 15K, he was happy and I still felt like I got a bargain, he could have said 20k and it still would have been worth it to me. 25K and I might have started wheeling and dealing or considered flying to the one frame/second paradise of Coronet, but either way it would be the seller and customers choice.

I also feel that overcharging is not a problem. It is definetly a pain to get good resources (especially if you are hunting your own avian meat).

If people want cheap buffs, become a Master Doc yourself! Spend all those Skill points and give up your precious Commando or BH and sit in town. I personally prefer the city life, but there is no way they should expect us to trim our profit margins, they arent about to trim their fighting time at all.

I am a doctor for 2 reasons:

1) making friends and having fun around the city

2) to have a successful and profitable business.

not charity, and not to help others fight better at a reasonable price

It is great making money not fighting, this is something SWG has been able to pull off well.....lets keep it that way and keep prices high for crafted goods and services.

I think facts speak the loudest. Fact is, I sit down next to people charging 10K for a buff and start selling mine for 15K all the time and everyone moves over. Why? People want the best buff. Not everyone, but most people. Although my buffs are only slightly better than normal (hitting about 2600 @ 3.75hrsin Coronet) I personally don't feel its worth an extra 5K. This tells me one thing - the market will bear more. People understand the earning potential of having a buff versus not having one. I've experimented with charging more. At 17K people complain but still buy them. At 20K the line drops off and everyone bickers. For me 15K seems to be the sweet spot.

If someone wants to sit next to me and charge 7K, more power to them. They will get business but SO WILL I. I will be there half the time and make twice as much. The people in my line are there half the time too. So who loses here. The loser is the Doc charging 7K because they have undervalued their own worth and benefit.

Whatever. I'll charge what I like and they'll pay if they want to. It's called a player-run economy.

Fine Charge what you want... But she shouldn't be griefed because shecharges one quarter of thier fee.

And i my opinion if the prices stay high, there's just going to be more peeps taking up the profession....Supply and demand almost always gives in to supply before demand.

Buff prices are ridiculous. Avian meat prices are ridiculously high, 650 cpu is just too much. When I started doing buffs the going rate was 5k for a full set. I went with the 'market' and increased the prices. But I don't buff the public anymore if I can avoid it. BORING!!!

I gather all my own resources, including creature resources and though crafting can be a real drag, I've got a factory...so Verm, it's not that BAD.

I make a tidy profit selling the packs. A 'doctors guild' has formed on Corbantis and they want the buff prices set to 20-25k per set. I won't sell buffs for that price and I'd definitely get into a buff price war along with a few other docs on my server, if that happens.

10-15k per buff is a nice price, with a nice profit margin. Who cares what the client makes/does/harvests during his/her buff? It's his/her game play time and if he/she wants a buff then it's a service we can elect to provide.

I buff for 2100 for 3 Hours and 45 Minutes for 15k, I love it when 90% of the people go into the line where the doc is buffing 2700 for 3 Hours for 14k. I get people telling me to lower my prices, or that I have Crap buffs. What they dont realize is that I am getting just as many customers as the other doc, just without the line. I buff someone, line is gone, by the time the "You are now ready to apply enhancements" message appears, a new customer shows up
