Thread: What do people consider really good buffs, and what are they willing to pay?
On Starsider I charge a flat 20k for any buff from 2400-2500. I don't tend to buff the public. If I am stopped to buff someone then they really need to make it worth my while. I get flames but considering the source I ignore them. I can do a 36k mission in under 5 minutes. That's 72k every 10 minutes. It's really not worth my while to pause in my mission spree to buff at all so I consider it as me doing them a huge favor for 20k.
Coqo! MD, City ofMalpais, Dantooine, Starsider
This trend toward raising prices is a travesty for service oriented professions. I have a 0,2,2,0 Doc character on Bloodfin and will not follow this trend toward inflating prices especially when a Master Doctor in the Tatooine, Bestine Med Center is charging 10K for 2000 increase enhancement packs to all stats.
Irregardless of what those with Scout abilities are selling for Avian, with as many as 15 skill points anyone can harvest Nunas in the Judland Wastes or even Tat Wild Meat. I see no real justification for continuously increasing the price for character enhancements. Gas prices are high enough! Shall we translate the same trend toward econmic depression through rising prices?
I personally plan to reverse the trend regardless of anyone elses opinion. I am going to rollback prices to 6K and make minor adjustments from there. If you can manufacture 2500-3000 statistic enhancement packs with duration beyond 3+ hors, your prices should be reasonable, just, fair, and not attempt to exploit or gouge pricing which offsets the economic balance. Less that that "standard", there should be no attempt to increase pricing to offset a low bank account.
I for one will take my combat characters and begin to seek out pets to tank the enemy for my xp rather than loose, proportionally every 2 or so hours, one mission payout to lousy buffs especially with mission payout bugs EVERYWHERE from Tatooine to Dantooine and beyond.
You want to reverse the high price trend of 200 cpu for Avian Meat, lower your own prices for enhancements and obtain some scout skills to harvest your own meat. I request the Correspondent communicate with the developers about nerfing this outrageous econonic inflation which is going to ruin the economy, make Armorsmiths much more valuable in their uber comp, and put Doctor enhancements out of business with Bio Engineer pets serving as pure tanks -- what a great opportunity to my Master Bio E, Master CH character on Valcyn.

I was going to break your post apart and point out the flaws, but your entire post is written with your behind, so I gave you a 1-star and decided to ignore anything from you.
You really have no idea what you are talking about... inflated prices and screwed economy?
Go to google and lookup the term market economy... and come back after you've actually mastered doctor... and buffed people for 10 hours.
6K for 3000 packs that last over 3hours after harvesting nunas in the judland wastes... I don't know wether to cry or laugh.

Most players will admit that they're worth so much more than whatever they pay.

10k on ecipse is just a nice round number right now on Eclipse. I'm buffing 2300+ and 3+ hours without bivoli, 2500+ and 3 1/2+ with (if I have a line to make it worthwile). I have had very few pricing complaints with or without bivoli, and I like it that way. I try to avoid buffing the public but when there is opportunity... ![]()
BTW, for the crafting docs on Eclipse, thanks for going to the great effort. There is always a good selection around and the quality has been consitantly very good.
Cheers
[ Oh please, people like you in my line is exactly why I charge 12-15k for my buffs
any less and it's not worth me sitting there listening to crap.
and before I had a Dr when I'd go hunting on my alt I had no problem paying 10-12-15k a buff even 20k in out of the way places.
But then I'm not a tight fisted **edit** who thinks people taking the time out of there playtime to buff me is worth nothing.

I always appreciate a mature, appropriate response a positive sign of intelligent, informed life. I do appreciate your response.
I hope this trend toward inflation in a supply / demand, Supply-S economy isn't affected when Enhancements are sold at 50K a pop in a bugged mission payout economy where 6 of 10 missions on any planet provide income.

Another reply that indicates intelligent life in the Galaxy. How refreshing to read the last post from this individual; "...decided to ignore anything from you" Ditto pal and permanently.
Market shares are the key measure of how well we are doing in the market economyrelative to the competition. They do not define the economy but rather each Merchant's role within that economy.
Market economy vs. Command economy only supports my position that free enterprise has costs to the consumer and with nowhere to go but the same gas stations selling gas at the same price with no room for competition, inflation always leads to recession.
I am sure you have studied Economincs at Harvard and know all there is to justify inflating Enhancement costs. Congratulations.

The intelligent replies never cease to amaze me. Not only off topic, lacking maturity or interpretive thought, but neolithic in origin. Congratulations There isn't even anything in the reply you gave worth discussing. Again, congratulations.
This should explain to you why I avoid them:
Winning an argument on the internet is a lot like winning in the special olympics.. in the end, you're still retarded!
Sorry, I got it wrong.. it's meant to be:
Arguing on the internet is a lot like participating in the special olympics.. in the end, even if you win, you are still a retard.

My apologies. I should have crafted a more articulate argument. I want to say in advance that I am speaking here about your reference to the price gouging ofresources/buffs (herein referred to as "the travesty").
If you want to single-handedly alter the course of economics on your server, hats off to you.
You're suggesting that you're going to lower your prices on your buffs. That's great. Do you get all your own resources? Even better. You can get them cheaper that way. While you're out gathering resources, who's going to fill your place at the starport doing buffs? Do you think someone that wants to charge 6k for a buff? I really don't think so. OK, so several folks get great buffs for a while when you're around. Awesome! When you're gone, most people will either (a) not ever know they missed it, or (b) start paying a higher price again. The alternative is to not get buffed. That's not much of an alternative to most people that depend on buffs.
If you buy your resources from someone else and make your own buffs, then it gets a little more interesting. Do you think someone that has been making 200cpu for months on a given resources is going to back off their price because what they're doing, in your opinion, is "a travesty"? Again, not much of a possibililty. Could happen, though. I'll give you that.
Now if you just buy your buff packs, then it's gonna get kinda tough. You'll still pay the same amount you were before, because I'm guesing -- may be way off in the weeds here -- that the vendors from whom you buy your supplies will not lower their prices based upon the request of one individual. Again, a possibility, but not likely. So, in this scenario, you'll still end up paying the same price, but lowering your costs for buffing. This will mean one of the following: either (a) you make a minimal fee for buffing or (b) you actually PAY people to buff them. If that's what you're in to, that's great. If it's (a), let's say you make 1000 credits per customer. My math isn't too great here. OK, it takes 17 seconds between each stat. 17x6 = 102 seconds per buff. Let's round to 2 minutes to give time for the next person to step up and pay. OK, so you've just spent an hour buffing people (non-stop, mind you), and you made 30,000 credits. Congratulations! Time well spent.
Personally, I didn't spend my time getting to Doctor so that I could save the world of price gouging. I wanted to help people. I think I do. I enjoy being a doctor.
People understand that you have to pay to be buffed. The benefits, I think most people will agree, far outweight the costs.
The game is modeled after a capitalistic economy. If you can't fill a person's need, they go somewhere else.
P.S. - fix that "scrollHeight)"> thing on your posts.
