Thread: Troll Poll: Why did you become a doc?

In all the RPGs I've played, I was usually a Cleric/Doctor/Shaman/etc. This is where I've had the most fun too.

So, of course I took up medic when I started. Met some great people in the med centers (back when they had people, instead of tumblemonkeys).

Learned my crafting and craft at the feet of the GREAT master doctors (thanks again Eerif).

Worked my way up both CM and DOC naturally, helping people out. (took CM causeI wanted ranged heals, only recently began to love my poisons) Only ground out the last box in CM and last 2 boxes in DOC crafting (was impatient for mastery in both).

Been MDoc/MCM for months, and won't change.

I wanted to have a support character to my primary fighter character (yes, I have two accounts). I also felt that a full time doctor would increase the effiency of my guild.

Docs are a realy good support profession with their healing andbuffing, along with the cure posions and cure diseases.

Doc also includes a bit of crafting, which don't make me need a elite crafting profession for my crafting need.

I find that in every game I play, I do my best work when I play a supporting role. I also find providing support to others to be the most satisfying.

Over all, I suppose that I just like the idea of helping people.

In RPGs I've always looked for an ability to heal myself (and others, if it comes with the same or little price) quickly. Also as a newcomer it was impressive seeing a friend Doctorrezzing people, and I've wanted to be able to do that ever since. As a Doctor you're in a positionwhere you canhelp others, and I've quite enjoyed that part so far. That sugar-coated with a little crafting makes Doctor a wonderful profession.

I took up doctor because I'm a master rifleman, and I was tired of shooting myself to incap........lol. I have migrated my mind, focus, and willpower to maximum now. I just buff myself and I'm good to go......lol.

Plus Doctor is good for making money when you need it, just start buffing.

I was sick of waiting in line for buffs, or even worse, waiting around for a doc to show up so I could wait in line for a buff (like right after the server reboot for instance). I am in europe and play at times when the overall server population is low, so having a doc account really helped me a lot.

buffs are great, but i really didn't learn about them well after i had novice doc.

cure poison and disease are handy, the heal states are not a bad trick to have up your sleeve.

healing is crucial and can always be a deciding factor in combat.

but more than anything else, revive lets a doctor decide who gets to keep fighting, and who has to hike back from the cloning facility.

ego is my answer
the power of life and death are under the supervision of doctors. what else can you ask for?

I wanted to be able to walk up to the guy that was just killed by another player in Theed and yell "CLEAR!" and have him revived. Now if I could only find something that looked like defibillator paddles.....

First doctor character: Was trying different professions and doctor sounded good/helpful. Mastered and got turned off by rude/mooching customers. Especially in group situations where everyone expects stuff to be free. Dropped it.

Second doctor character: Got a second account so that my now non-doctor combat character could always have buffs. Pretty much only buff my other character and guildmates. Also a merchant who runs my shops.

So I would be able to buff myself, cure disease and rezz party members. I spend very little if any time buffing the public. I became a doctor to be purely self reliant. I didn't like spending all that time in the buff lines.

This is my first online game and I started with medic and then doc so I could play without going into combat. My bf had bugged me to play so that was my compromise. Well....the no combat thing only lasted a short while and here I am working on combat medic lol. I love going out in groups and healing even if I get behind cause I'm too busy shooting (hee hee).

I'm a relatively new Doc (0,2,0,1) but have been playing since Beta 3.

Have mastered about 10 professions, mostly crafting, did one Holo, and found myself saying what now? I like to craft, I like to work in a group with others, I'm not an Uber hunter (although I'm one box form master pistol and have been a master Ranger and CH), I have more then enough credits to support myself. What is left?

That has lead me to Medicine.

Just the few groups I have been out with, then only as a novice Med, the gratefulness and appreciation from other real life players is amazing.

With the road to Jedi changing (Holos - thank God), and my desire to RP much more, I have come to the place where I just want to encourage those around me. I have already concluded that I will practice shareware medicine - if people can pay/tip great, if not, that’s cool too.

Oh, and I've always been a sucker for that Dr. title!
