Thread: Doctors Not Doing Their Duty

First of all...everyone has the right to become whatever professionthey choose and then to play them as they wish...I have never heard someone complain that a scout is not "scouting" or a bounty hunter is not "hunting"...no one owes anyone anything here...

I personally really enjoy being a Doc...I have had more interaction with players...even if for a brief few moments...and it is cool...I have done so little missions like the amusement parks...corvette etc...man I have so much to do still...

When I started in September of 2003 I decided on Scout...but by October I had changed to Medic...I did not to do this by tumbling or any other method...I did it by healing people in the hospitals or cantina...I crafted for hours at a time and never used a macro...did I play everyday no...but I usually did 1-2 times a week...sometimes I just hunted and didn't do any doctoring...so I didn't actually make Master Doc until this past July of 2004...yes 9 months...I am sure most people would laugh at that...but to me it was fun getting there so I have no regrets...

With that said...do I have to wait in the hospital for you? No...I don't...if I am around and people need help...then I am happy to do so...I also started buffing more recently in Coronet on Wanderhome...which to me is fun and helps me make a few bucks...I personally miss the days of hanging out in the hospital...unfortunatly SWG does not require "xp maintenance"...so I never have to heal again to retain my "Master Doctor" status...in my opinion...EVERY profession should be required to maintain they're skills or face losing them over time...sort of keeping ones skills honed so to speak...

The bottom line is that no one owes anyone anything in this game...one can only be responsible for their own character...

And that's my two cents...

While I agree that people staffing the med center should give precedence to healing wounds from active PC's than afkers, this statement is akin to saying "Scouts and Rangers you have to start doing your job. Whenever someone asks you, always go and get meat/hides for them right away. If you became a scout or ranger just to build camps and area track then quit the profession right now."

No class has a "reason" to be that class. You play your class however you feel and enjoy it to your fullest. Being rude is certainly not something I condone, nor is being ignorant to helping out a fellow player. Regardless of that, we're all paying money out of our own pockets to live in this fantasy world. Telling someone how they should play is ridiculous (see my example above.) Next time look around for a doctor who will help, and after they've helped you mark them as a friend and remember that those doctors who will help (like myself) are extremely happy when someone mentions that they enjoy our repeated service or appareciate our commitment.

Edit: Wow, completely skimmed right over IlyaMasool's post. Beat me to it I guess

Yep, I'm sick of it too, which is why the other day I went round the Med center in coronet and buffed all the Tumblers quickness and strength.... oh I had many abussive tells, but it was worth it to make them do their job.

Well your nice and narrow minded and one of the reasons why doc's "don't do the job" so to speak!!!

If you appriciated Doc's maybe thinks would change, and by pulling stunts like this you prove your totally inconciderate and selfish to boot.

and if you think about it what does what u did achieve other than piss of the doc's that you want to heal you???? not much, the tumblers will get rid of there buffs and carry on tumbling, and you'll have alienated a bunch of doc's

Congratulations on achieving the opposite of what your trying to do

You have a Doctor listed in your sig, so Im kind of surprised that this kind of rant comes from you. Ill spare you any generalizations aimed at you, mostly because I dont think it would do any good. All I can do is tell you how I feel.

I like bieng a Doctor, the profession fits me like a glove. I like resource hunting, crafting, and creating usefull things that dont require a huge vareity of resources, or a huge quantity like weaponsmith or archetect for example. Doc crafting for me, is just like in the story of Goldylocs and the Three Bears - Just right.

I also enjoy healing people and bieng helpfull, though here is where the rub comes. The way I make my packs, it generally doesnt cost me too much money, and even a slight tip would cover my cost. Tipped? Nope. Thanked? Nope. Require payment in advance? Get laughed at, because what I do isnt worth money to people, even though it costs me money.

At some point, even people who enjoy helping others, will find that is kind of at the least bitter sweet, when doing so comes with the realization that they are not thankfull at all for it. You are nothing to most people as a doc, but a tool for them to use when needed, and then discard.'

When people are going out and making 35k per mission at hundreds of thousands of credits per hour, and cant even spare the decency for a 500c - 1000c tip and a Thanks!, thats really pissed a lot of people off. Now some people dont mind how this seems to work, but most do.

Just my 2 cents - I was a Doctor for several months over a year ago, I return and there are far less skilled people in the med center or otherwise healing wounds. Mostly the only docs I see around have THIRTY minute lines for buffs. Ask yourself why is it that the only Docs you see, are usually the ones buffing.

Most docs I know are not in it for the money, but trying to support yourself while paying to heal other people stings, and eventually leaves Docs rubbed the wrong way for the last time.

Totally agree I have listen to ppl run round yelling for disese to be cure, ran over and healed them and they have run of without even a thankyou!!! and you expect me to put myself out and heal ppl um no thanks I ain't a public service!!!

and this is how a majority of doc are treated, and taken for granted that we should be at ppl's beck and call for healing and buffs, will we're not and I am personally sick and tired of being treated this way, as are most doc's I'd imagine..... so when you ppl you are whining start treating us with respect and good manners then MAYBE we will start doing as you expect us to!!!

I became a doc for the same reason I play this game, to have fun not to cater to your wishes.

As soon as you start paying my $15 a month I'll start giving a **edit** what you think I should be doing as a doc.

You know what I'm utterly sick and tired of? People who come on this board for no other reason than to flame doctors.
Master TKA/Master Doctor --- **edit**??? You have not one but TWO ways to heal your wounds...so why are you complaining?

On second thought, Why aren't you in the med center healing wounds right now?

Man, I get so pissed when I walk into some spot and all I see is novice armorsmiths crafting AUK's in practice mode and I'm like "hey I need some armor here" and they're all "sorry I'm not making armor right now" likeif the only reason you're playing is anything other than to help me whenever I need it then you should just cancel your account.

Jagged' Fel,whenyou start paying for my subscription AND my time AND my effort AND my opportunity costs (getting a real life, for example) AND something extrato persuade me to deal with you, then I just mightbother. Otherwise, you know where you can stick your idea of what constitutes my job/duties.

It ain't just about the cost of the subscriptions.
