Thread: Why dont Docs answer tells ? (rant)
I dont wear my MD tag in coronet (at least try not to)
Though, if the guy is a rebel from a guild that I know people in, and is standing right next to me, then sometimes ill give in and buff them.
People need to go to an image designer maybe once a month, and don't have to if they don't want to. People go to doctors daily, and are forced to in order to solo harder MOBs.
As a result, as an ID you probably got nice tells. As a doctor with a master doc tag on, I used to get "HEAL ME NOW" and "I need buffs". Then I get people arguing with me over prices. All in all, it's just like the med center used to be, except now everyone is doing it with buffs. As if it's their god-given right to get a buff from you, and they need have no manners.
I very, very rarely wear a master doctor tag for this reason.
bsaically it has all been said..rundenss and you dont pay enough
Why don't I reply? All of these are multiple-occurance reasons...
*) I'm waiting for a shuttle with 2:30 minutes left and get messaged for a tell. I'm not going to sit and explain to you that I do not feel like missing the shuttle so that you can go out and kill Krayts for all kinds of wonderous prizes.
*) I am a Master Doc now. I do not need the XP anymore. I've made some money (not a lot, but some) off of buffing, so the money isn't really an issue.
Why do I continue wearing the tag? Because I play a doctor, and I enjoy helping people out. As has been said earlier, there is a difference between "Are you buffing at the moment?" and "HAY BUFF ME". That difference is approximately 2200-3100 points of HAM enhancements. If you need the help and are friendly, I will more than likely go to meet you, or at least tell them my route to where I'm going so that we can intercept at some point along the way. If people get to where they see a doc and "expect" buffs, I will "expect" you to go jump off of Theed Falls.
As it is people already expect free heals, cures and Ressing. Luckily they'll still pay for buffs, but they definitely expect someone to be around to do it for them and to come at their beck and call whenever they want it done.
Sorry, but I pay my money to play the game, not be abused. My tag stays OFF. Only on rare occasions do I actually offer services anymore, and even then I rarely get paid... then again I'm not usually asking for moneyso I'm not really complaining that I don't get any, only that the online culture is such that folks expect to get away with paying nothing.

This is for all Docs on the Ahazi server. I am now already used to thatI have to search 1-2 hourto find a doc who is buffing. But nowI am getting mad. I send todaytells to 6 different master docs at the startport, hi, canI pls buy buffs from you andNOT ONE answers.I dont realy care if you say no,I am not buffing, orI am already to busy buffing peopel butI dont get an answer from 90% of the docs.
I know how tell hell can be, I was master Image designer for several month getting tells even before my char made it from the logging screen into the game. But at last say something about not buffing or beeing busy.
- Starports aren't the most condusive places for conversation, especially Coronet (in Ahazi). My chat screen litterally flys by.
- If I'm already buffing someone, I'm only semi-paying attention to my chat screen. I look at the condition of my mind, as well as keeping track of what enhancements I've already applied. In addition, I'm also keeping track of who's in line and the order that they are in.
- Private messaging in the game isn't the greatest. I can't use /r because by the time I'm ready to send the message, another /tell has been sent from someone else. So I always use /t <name>. If you have a name that takes too long for me to type in, tough luck, I'm not replying until the tells have subsided.
I am a master doc on ahazi. If im sitting in a town yelling that im buffing then i will buff people. But im normally out hunting and doing other things that im not going to go out of my way to buff people. I have become rather popular for buffs that people will travel several kilometers to get buff from me. But recentally i havent been stocking up on buffs since im going on vacation tomorrow so people have been understanding that i cant buff.
A major pet pev of mine are ungrateful people thatyou buff. I buffed this one guy for 5 his stats were over 2500, and one was 900+, he wanted a refund for the bad buff.... Another annoying buffing time was when this guy paid me in theed to buff him. I had done about 2 or 3 buffs and some rebels showd up so he ran off and died. Then he released to his town over at the lake resort and wanted me to travel there to finish buffing him. He then said he would be back in theed in 3 mins on the shuttle. After waiting 20 mins i left and went on to Talus to where i was headed anyway. Well about 15 mins later he sends me a tell saying that he was now in Theed.
Anyway if you piss doc's off ill tell you first hand that they tend to not want to respond to you. So instread of....
Buff me plzkthx
have something intelligent to say like...
are you buffing right now?
And please have an understanding that not all master doc's will be buffing at that time.

I don't know.. I get rid of my Master Doctor Tag everytime Iog in. Can't stand the tells. Just ins't worth the time in making the buffsfor the money your paying. So I save it for myself and guild mates.

My opinion.... make friends with a doc! ...........I have friends i will travel to meet. I have taken a trip just to cure disease, for people i like.
I have been searching for a master armorsmith for a week to get a custom order.. but i dont bitch in the AS fourms
ROFLMAO.. Too true.
I too never have my Master Doc tag up since I don't like charging for buffs. It's mostly because I'm totally embarassed by the bad rolls I can get (780 rated packs have yielded a full 6 stats under 1k)
I will however buff for free to certain people that have treated me right and have been polite. I *REFUSE* to answer anyone /yelling IN ALL CAPS around the starports as well. I pay my monthly fee to play how I like, I don't spam other professions forums about how 'crappy' they are when I don't get my way.
Try making friends with a Doctor. If you're in the same spaceport all the time try to see if there are any Docs who are 'regulars' at that starport. Offering them Avian and/or Herbivore meat at a reasonable price is one way to surely get on their 'will travel to meet you' list.
DEMANDING another player to do anything is the fastest and most assured way to get that person to not do it.
I never turn off my MD tag, and I never plan on dumping doctor for any sort of Holo sillyness. I even have a Helper tag on, and endeavour to answer everyone's questions about just about anything as well as I can.
That being said, I am not superhuman.
If someone sends me a tell to get a heal or a buff, I will try to work it so that I can do so if I am in the area. I don't travel long distances to a person to heal or buff as I don't see that as my job to do so, be even with that I at least try to make the meeting place somewhat beneficial to all...the bank, the med center, the starport...and sometimes my shop south of Theed (which people do come out to to get buffs sometimes, bless their hearts).
If I don't reply, it usually is because I am afk withough putting on /afk. Sure it is lame, but this isn't something that happens all the time or for extremely long lengths of time. But it happens and I try to check back in my chat logs to see if I get tells depending on the spam.
Spam brings me to the next reason why I might not reply, especially in front of a starport with tons of shouts and much general talking going on. I am not always looking at the screen (I watch TV sometimes while I play SWG), and sometimes I am doing something like writing an ingame e-mail or in my inventory or something and a message can slip by, especially a general /say message cause it blends with all the other /say messages in the are. Tells are much more visible to me as I was able to change the color of them to something more visible.
A simple second request is usually more than enough for me to catch your request and I can then give you a reply.
I would like to give some other advice to requesters though. If you are going to ask me for a heal or a buff and I set up a meeting place, PLEASE come there as soon as you can or let me know you are going to be later or can't make it. I get more than a few incidents where I have a request and I head to the city and pop out the droid to do some buffs and then no one shows. I then send a query to the person and they say they already got them or something else.
If you don't let me know I end up wasting my time. This is annoying and very rude.
Politeness is a two way thing. If you are polite to me, I will be polite to you.

i tend to ignore the /tells i get that say something to the effect of:
buffz plz!
as opposed to getting a /tell that says:
excuse me,do you have time for some buffs?
i dont usualy wear my MD tag either.but sometimes i do,and when i get crappy rolls for a stat.and the guy starts yelling at me how much i suck,it makes me just not want to bother.this is even after i explain to them how random it is.
one guy even told me one day that he only wanted all buffs at 2k or higher per stat, and i tried to explain to him that i cant guantee that all of them will be like that, and he told me to stuff it.thats gratitude for ya.
so now i just buff myself and go work on the rest of brawler and heavy swordsman.
