Well I would guess that either you had your Doctor title on, that person previously had a buff from you or that person is psychic.

Whatever is the case, that person needed a buff and he saw you there.

Now he has a decision to make. He can just assume that you are not buffing, in which case he will have to travel farther to find a doctor who is buffing, probably on a cornet and wait on line for zillion hours spending additional credit on shuttle and more importantly waste his valuable playing time traveling and waiting.

OR

He can take a HUGE gamble and actually ask you if you are buffing in which case he save tons of time and probably some credit as well and pray to whatever diety he believes in that you don't yell his puny head off for having a nerve to ask someone as busy as you.

So he took a game and he obviously lost. And he probably have learned his lesson (whatever that may be)

Oh well he probably moved on with his life.

There is your answer. Could try to be polite about it if ya cant figure out why they asked you for a buff drop doc and play a few weeks without it. You will then understand why people will ask if they can have some buffs. Depending on what im doing and how they ask will determine if they get buffs. My experience so far has been on the remote planets that they will ask very politly and therfor i will buff them if im not super busy. If even i am super busy i wil ltell them if they will wait a few minutes i will buff. Just decide how you want to handle the encounters and move on.

Had a player come up to when i was hunting on dath and asked. Say there young lady when you are done trashing them there varmits if its not too much trouble would you mind applying your doctor magic on an old hunter? . I was so taken back from the normal way most people ask me I buffed him for free. Bottom line is if they ask nice be nice even if your answer is going to be no.

I mostly just ignore random requests for buffs.

For some stupid reason, everytime I login, my title reverts to Master Doctor, though everyday for the past 2 months after I login I've changed it to no title or another title.

I'm then usually greeted with a couple tells asking for buffs. My character is not searchable. I buffed at a starport once. The only way people can ask is if they physically see me in front of them. And I STILL get hit with a bunch of tells.

It's exceptionally annoying that you can't walk around with a Master Doctor tag up without being hounded constantly for buffs. It's to the point that I changed my AFK message to "Not buffing, sorry" and I quickly type /afk the second I login.

God help me when I end up travelling anywhere and forget to take my tag off. If there's any kind of line for buffs, someone instantly walks over and starts harassing me for a buff. The polite folks don't bother me, and sometimes I will buff them (provided we get the heck away from the other 10,000 buff addicts). Usually I just keep going on my way - I have every right to play the game, too, without being hassled every 2 minutes. Especially by clods who can't grasp the concept that people use email in this game, and the reason I'm not saying anything is because I'm obviously doing something else. Instead, they think yelling, "ru ther?" "hellllllooo!!!!!" "HEEEEYYYY!!! DOCTERR!!" "PLZ BUFF ME!" "HELLO?????" "BUF MEE!!!! pLS" To which I respond, "You're rude and not worth my time. I was working on email and had no idea you were here.If you're so impatient, you're playing the wrong game. Welcome to /addignore and best of luck to you, you'll need it."

What drives me nuts are the "stretchers." Here's an example. I'm at Dathomir Science Outpost, and I buff myself for a session of Rancor butchering. Some guy finds my little buffing spot, and of course, asks if he could get a buff. I tell him, "Yeah, sure - may as well not waste the Bivoli." So I buff him. Then up comes "his friend." He needs a buff, too - of course. Then they say another friend of theirs will be here in 2 minutes. So I wait. 10 minutes later their friend shows up. I've now lost 20 minutes or so on my buffs. In that time I could've made about 70k in credits. I hate being taken advantage of.

I did have a very nice fellow come up to me at the Dath Science Outpost once. He asked for a buff. I said, sorry, all out of buffpacks - i had to buy my buffs today (which was 100% true). He says, "I have my own buffpacks, if you wouldn't mind using them on me." I thought that was pretty clever of him. That effectively counters any claims of being "all out of packs."

It was then not very nice of him to proceed to ask me to buff his 5 pets. I was then very irritated and just want to leave already. Then, 20 minutesafter I get done buffing him and his 5 pets, he sends me a tell that he accidentally stored one of his animals, and I could I rebuff it. Ugh. I made him wait until I was done with my missions, but I dreaded being hounded my entire mission time to rebuff his pets or whatever.

It never ends, I tell ya...

True, but given that I'm running around in full comp armor, sitting on a swoop pointed directly at the mission terminals - it's probably a safe bet i'm not about to start a buff session. This has happened to me before. Also, a usual tip off that someone is buffing is a droid pulled out, and SOME sort of advertising that they're buffing.

Speaking of not having a tag up and STILL getting asked, me and a few friends were in front of Jabba's Palace filming a video and joking around, and my friend and I were standing in my Landspeeder waiting for the filming to start. And what happens? "Hey Vowe, are you buffing?"

I didn't have a tag up. Not any tag. It was MORE than obvious that the last thing I was doing was working a buff line. I pointedly responded, "Do I have a Master Doctor tag up?" He said, "no." I then asked, "Am I barking that I'm buffing?" He said, "no." So I said, "Well, I do believe you have your answer then. Good day."

He proceeded to stand there (grrrrrr) and after about 3 minutes, and several gripings over him ruining the shot, he just blurts out, "Well it was in yer dis krepption so I thought you were buffing."

*sigh*

The bottom line as far as I'm concerned- people are rude, and expect you to be their servant. That mindset is way too prevalent in this game. I'm on a personal crusade to teach these people 1) respect for fellow players and 2) that inconsiderate behavior will get them nowhere.

so I'm loitering around my favorite shops when an obviously helpless master chef asks me if I would mind clearing some agro away from her factories. Now I don't care that I have my master rifle tag up or that I am holding my power hammer, and how dare she make such and inquiry? I mean do people know no shame? I promptly spit on her and did "/emote kicks helpless chef lady for being presumptive" over and over untill I think she began to cry in real life.

er...no I didn't. I said "sure!" and I went over there and used strafe 2 on em and watched them die and her thank me and we had a nice chuckle about how weak our crafting characters are as I have one too. I got a waypoint to her shop and made a friend.

mabe you could do the same?

My doctor title is bugged and will not remove no matter how many times i change it a day and ask CSRs for help, its just been that way. Always changes back to doctor many times a buff run, an annoying bug but i just deal with it by ignoring the tells or telling them Not Buffing. I do get alot of rude people that say things like "you're a doctor, it's what you do".

Those kind of people are wrong. I'm a doctor for personal use and have never been one to help out others. I used to do public buffing until i was driven out by the rude people who annoyed me.

I get asked for a buff here and there when I have my title up, or by people who know I have doctor and politley ask. If they're nice about it then I'll go ahead and buff them and my friends/guildies always get freebies. But for that little annoyance who just walks up to you and says "buff?" I'll just ignore. I'm proud of being a doctor and I like to heal people. I like to leave my master doc title up and I hate switching titles just to avoid the annoyances.

I used to - but found some of these folks are europeans or asian and have trouble with english so they minimize the words they use.

After buffing in coronet it can harden you if you let it. (JK) I am just polite and say "sorry no"
