That's utter nonsense. While tumbling might be the only path to grind medic, it's not the only path to earn medic. I earned it back in the first month. Medic is extremely easy to earn by playing the game. Get a group, especially a group of new players, and go out unbuffed on missions. You will get money and lots of experience healing people.

It's the grinding that's killing everything, and the mentality that it fosters.

I 100% agree with you. When I earned Master Doctor, I was frequently going on large huntingparties to Dath and simply healing people. It is possible and attainable without touching a tumbler.

The problem is that very few people hunt in groups any more. Everyone solo groups because its many times faster and they can kill all of the mobs solo. I guess this type of groups healing is feasible at the static spawns like the geo cave, etc. But otherwise its not.

Can I ask when you did that?

Under 2 hours to Master Doctor, did it during a PA Krayt raid. Though it did help that I was a MCM at the time. Area heals and Area Poisons .

LOL...ya think? But that still is pretty sweet. Congrats.

Did that in Dec 03 lol, hehe.

My primary toon was the original Doctor and like your self it took me 4-5 weeks to Master Doc, no macros, no tumblers no nothing other than in field healing. This was at game launch. Did that wearing crappy armour, die alot. Time when Docs and CM got respect for braving the wilds of Endor and Dathomir. The shouts of SAVE THE DOC!! .

LOL...SAVE THE DOC!! Yes I remember the good old days. Indeed you died a lot, but that's what the cloning center was for. The game was a blast. which we could get back to the fun times again

The most fun time I had playing Doc/MCM was last sunday during a NPC Dev triggered Imperial assault in Coronet near the Starport. I ran around using Area heals the whole time. Got tells, like you rox, tips to cover my medical packs, 2 players offered to play bodyguard for me . Got tells to buff peeps too, told them I was too busy tossing Area Stims to buff, they went COOL! I wore no armour while dodging ATST and Nova Troopers fire.

We need more events like this.

Indeed.. I worked through Master Medic into Doctor somewhere by doing groups out of Bestine, mostly trouping all the way out to the Squill cave on foot, search & destroy along the way.

Back when the game was fun and death was something to avoid.

Ok folks i am going to start a rant.

I see a problem for the third time in three days one of my alt characters was in need of healing. Figure that Cornet is the hub of travel that the medics and docs there would heal your wounds, you think. not the case i was sitting in the med center for about 15 minutes continually spaming"I need wounds healed" no Healing. Why you ask All the medics are healing tumblers most likely afk. I am sick and tiered of having to go from planet to planet trying to get my wounds healed and finding that all the medics and docs are onlyu healing damage. funny thing is that healing wounds is beter xp then healing tumblers. Folks you can heal tumblers any place why use the med centers? Oh and fo all yu tumblers out there do some real adventuring for money.

I sometimes sit in a med center while I clean out my inventory after a buff, check my armor, check my food supplies / stims etc.... Since I typically have wounds of my own to heal and I have yet to heal anyone the says " I need wounds healed" or "heal me" or some other crap to that effect. I always heal folks that say "can someone heal my wounds please?" or something similiar.

Try some mannors and maybe you'll get some assistance. I may very well have been one of those ignoring you, may not, not sure.... But be sure that I can heal you and will heal you if you ask nice. "I NEED WOUNDS HEALED"isn't nice nor is "HEAL ME" and you can wait it out if you don't ask for favors nicely. Wound packs aren't free and I do not want a tip but ask nice and you'll get healed.

If you ask nicely at a startport wait I'll do it as well but if it isn't a nice request then you can keep your black bars.

Good luck

Just to get this straight, you are upset because other players didn’t stop working toward their personal goals to help you just because you started spamming “I need wounds healed?”
You are seriously in need of an attitude adjustment if you want help from me. Here is my free advice to you. In most cases I would be glad to help out another player by healing them if I am not busy doing something else. But:
1. If you want my help ask politely; i.e. “Would you heal my wounds please?” If you spam anything or spout “I need wounds healed” I’m going to ignore you.
2. Try offering payment for the services you want. It took a lot of effort to get the necessary skill point and craft the meds required to heal you. Why do you expect me to donate my time and effort to help you?
I never used tumblers much but I don’t see tumbling as the issue. The issue is that someone selfishly expects others to stop what they are doing to help them.

/second

This is not my expereince on Sunrunner. I NEVER see any wounded not getting healed unless the medics are not physically there. Anecdotal evidence is the worst kind on which to base an opinion.

What is bieng seen with the "grind mentality" isnt the grind mentality at all IMO. Groups are nonexistant unless you find true newbies, and you dont want to be in those groups for productivity reasons anyway. Wounds are nonexistant practically as well. Its rare that I see anyone anymore with more than 50 wounds to a stat.

I think what is REALLY happening, is the natural human tendancy to minimize boring or monotonus behavior, in order to do what they really want to do. This isnt grinding at all, its what normal people call working smart and not hard.

Good reasons to use a tumbler: Its fast, its convienant, you dont have to deal with people who dont appriciate your service.

Lets face it, the game isnt what it was at launch, where the med center had 20 people in it with 50% wounded hams waiting to be healed.

Don't whine about an extra 6 spots in your inventory. /tendwound does like 5-9 per heal. I have seen players with 300-800 wounds. One of my wound B's (base 214) BAM 300-700 heal!

Hmm... 6 + 6 + 2 + 2 + 4 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1

would be 35ish.

Double that since you'd most likely carry a crate of each, that'd be 70.

Ofcourse you may or may not carry around your survey tools, crating tools, harvester deeds, energy for harvesters, and although you might be wearing your Set of Composite, you probably have your crafting outfit or buffing outfit. Perhaps power up? which means another 3-7 slot since you can't take them out of crate during combat.

All in all minimum of 80ish item and probably around 90ish.

And you think another doctor's concern with extra 12 slot (6 loose and 6 crate) whining?

What is that? bravado?

Now I'm pretty sure someone as slick as you probably have 4 droids with item module where you keep your crates of buff, wound packs, cure packs and what have yous, but don'tcha say to your self every time you have to swap in your crafting gear or "manage your gears" daily

"boy we carry around lotsa crap"?

Do you think maybe if combat profession had to carry around 6 dfferent weapon for each damage type plus 6 different ammo and 6 different armor with different protection type as well as 6 different powerup and 6 different weapon repair kit and 6 different armor repair kit and multiply that by two for one crate for each maybe, just MAYBE not EVERY stinking riflemen would decide to not carry 6 set of their armor repair kit just to save 12 slots?

I'm sure as lord of micromanagement you can do this stuff on the breeze, but I think some of us cringe every now and then whenever we open up our backpack, especially when we are out hunting with big group and forgot to have extra area heal pack out.

well the alternative is handing out random action buffs at cornet starport, like it or not tumblers are the only effective way to grind thru doc. Unfortunatly the number of tumblers on Scylla has shrunk to about none, so im forced to randomly buff people in c-net for less xp
