On a legitimate bank tip, the senders name will be properly capitalized, ie "Buff Buyer". On a forgery, the name will be in lower case letters, ie "buff buyer".

I'm at the office ATM, someone please verify. Pretty sure I have it right, but it may be vice versa. Either way, the name is different between forgeries and real system-sent e-mails.

Since the last patch all emails have the names in small letters with no caps. That's what the big problem is. Right now there is NO way to tell the difference between a bank tip and a scam email.

it isn't just doctors that are getting hosed by this BTW. It is happening all over.. and as more people learn about it, they aren't stopping ... no, more people do it every day...

Really does bad things to my faith in human beings acting like adults

Rewriting how E-mail is done for a clear indication is a bit tricky. Caps and no-caps is too small a difference for a real solution. Expect something easier to spot.

Well most people have a last name so it's easy to see the difference, as regular emails don't show the last name anymore, whereas bank tips do. The cap/no cap thing doesn't work anymore.

I think all emails for actual tips should come from the bank.

it is trickier then it seems, because people will want the tipper's name in the heading, so they don't have to open the mail to see who tipped them. So the devs need to work the tippers name AND the bank (or whatver) into the heading. Not a simple thing to add.

I keep my inventory open and make sure that the dollar amount is larger that what it was before as well. In order to read who tipped me and who hasen't, i keep my chat bar in combat, that way it sorts out what is being spammed outside of a starport, and i only see tells and bank transfer notification via the screen, not email.I alsowait until I find the proof that they actually bank tiped me, and if they complaining im taking too long i tell them they have the option of either waiting or losing out on thier money. Its harsh, I know but i work hard hunting the meat and harvesting, and i wont be cheated out of what is owed to me.

How about the 'from' line reading:

BANK TRANSFER from <some name>

That should be easy enough.

This is a big Dev issue, they are working on something to make the e-mail easily seen as system created only.. As this gets passed around, more and more people get scammed.

Please open CSR tickets on people you catch. They deserve to be yelled at for being jerks... maybe risking their acct. for cheating people will smack some sense into them. If you report them to the CSRs, do not delete the fake mail... keep it as evidence.

The Devs, and SOE arent going to really give a hoot that you got ripped off, they cant force the person to tip you, you cant, you can however ask to prepay. On another note, dont refere to it as a tip, if you are demanding! "defeats the purpose of being a tip"

especially sense docs over charge for buffs...you arent god ya know...

besides getting ripped off just makes SWG more realistic!

We are not calling it a tip but the system calls it a tip and so thats why we refer it to as a tip.

Do you not type /tip 8000 (name) to give someone money if you dont wanna do a trading request?
We call it a tip cuz thats the command we use to receive credits from someone. We arent giving buffs for tips, we are selling buffs cuz buffs cost us extreme amounts of money to make. I dare you to try and make really good buffpacks (900 above) and ask only for tips =)

I think it sux that we cant tell if someone just sends us an email saying they tipped us rather than it at least coming up on screen that they did so. I think 3/5 buffs I give, people bank tip and it just looks like an email. This needs to be fixed! Even tho I advertise telling them to either tip from their pockets or to tip me doing trade, they all bank tip and then they call US the scammers for not accepting it.

Wehave the convenience of buffing near a bank (as most citys player/npc alike have). Ifsomeone cant take the time to get me cash, I cant take the time to buff them. If you insist on sending a bank tip you have to wait for me to check my bank balance. If you bank tip me before I do check and the balance doesnt reflect what I think it would sorry, but I wont buff you. I even posted this information in my bio and tell all customers, even friends, to be sure to read it. Its been working out well and I havent been ripped off since I started this. I get a couple tells complaining, but I just assume those are the ones that cant afford it and were planning on screwing me over anyways. Sucks to be them

Dashadower,

For a long time I did buff for "tips" when they were random. I had 900+ packs etc. I used the tip method because it payed better and I got less grief.

I don't do it now because of the static buffs.

I believe your point was that "Tiping" is not an option. It is an expectation to be payed.

I believe you were also pointing out that Doc buffs are not like entertainers healing wounds or buffs. They require packs and the packs are apain to make and administer. Don't get me wrong, one should always tip an entertainer as well. I am just saying that there are some added costs with Doc meds.

I was just responding to lycanthropy when he was commenting about docs shouldnt DEMAND tips cuz we kept using the word "tipping" in this msg board. I was merely trying to reply to him the fact that the system calls it a "tip" so thats why we use tip when we buff people.
