Thread: Why do my D Buffs range from 300-3600?
I buffed with my droid in our new player city tonight. I buffed about 10 people that were gearing up for incoming rebels.
ANYHOOO, I had just powered up my droid and was getting some pretty nice buffs.. buffing about 10 people (4 - 6 stats each) I got a few 1200's, but most were in the range of 1800-2500 with a few hitting 3000+.
Then about 45 min later I get a call from a guy that pays me to travel wherever he is to buff him (he pays VERY well for this service). So I hop a shuttle, go to theed, RECHARGE my battery on my droid (since he's paying for buffs, I feel it's not fair to guess what power state my droid is in and always recharge it even if I just recharged it 20 min ago).
This guy had no wounds, no battle fatique nor did I. And I got ONE buff for about 2400 on him, and all the rest were 900-1200! Frankly it's embarrassing!
I was using the exact same buff packs too.
This huge variability is just not acceptable Zarlor. Master doctors are like brain or heart surgeons. We SHOULD be the best of the best in the medical profession which means are skills should be pretty consistant.
How many surgeons would be around if when performing a semi routine operation, had a perfect result one time out of 15, killed 5 of the 15 and the other 14 people almost died or had serious complications.
At master doc there is no reason to have such crap results so often when performing our craft.
I think this will be my first time ever posting on the forums but i felt that i should share the results of my research on the BF theory. I am a master doc and i am now convinced that it is completely random regardless.....i was on dant yesterday with 488 BF(player city raid the previous night before logout)and was buffing myself to take out a dark adept. Every buff i did, i got the shock wounds are reducing your medicines effectiveness message, but i hit 2k+ on all but 1 stat(which was still 1.6k). After they wore off and i had a chance to go to Corellia to take care of my BF, i rebuffed. The results were horrific. Two stats broke 2k, two stats were under 1k(eek), and the last two were mid 1k. For continuity sake, both times i was outside a building with my med 110 droid out with a fresh battery. There have been many other instances where similiar things have happened also, but that could take me all day to list(and remember for that matter).
Okay, thats my 2 creds

Why do you think it is so high up on the issues list and has been in our Top 5s the alst two times going in? They know it's a problem. We would even have a solution already, but not enough Docs liked that solution (which was to completely remove the variability, althogh I am convinced some folks completely misunderstood that solution thinking they would only be buffing for the base level of their packs instead of the average level of the buffs, which for a Master Doc on a base 800 pack would have been 1600 every time... well locations and droids could modify that number some.)
Most Doctors appear to want SOME variability, just not as much as we have now. Since that variablity formula is exactly the same across the board for every healing action we have, they'd have to dig into the code and change only the pointers for enhance packs and make sure that only those get updated. Apparently a pretty hefty and time consuming process and with all of the other priorities they have that apparentlyis just not possible right now.
So the next solution that we have that will be going in as soon as they can get it coded is to allow us to overwrite buffs. We've told them that we want to be able to do this for buffs that have a greater power, as opposed to a buff with greater duration. I do not know when they will be able to do this for us, but it IS on their plate. They will be doing this for us.
So this will get fixed, just not this very moment. All we can do is try to be patient, but it IS coming.

300 on a D pak? I have never hit lower than 700 on D when I buff myself and that's with BF
Me also I never go below what the packs states during creation...ex. if the pack says its 700 it has never gone below its 700 base.
IMO, you should never expect to get anything over what the buff is rated for. Anything extra is considered a bonus. It looks like there is some sort of modifier at work... anyone know what it is?
Stims are the same way. I can get heals over 2k on some pets with a stim-c rated at 650.
SOE should have a bit more information available on modifier formulas.

Theres something that matters that we don't know about, or maybe I'm just lucky. I just find it odd that out of 20 people buffed, the 4 mon cal's were getting huge #'s every time.
BF/mind wounds were always 0, and normally armor was off, except for the mon cal's, who all had their armor on...
But when armor was on with the other races it didn't seam to matter, it was more random.
so weird.
Well Ive been using 800+ packs (usually in the 800-810 power range) and I have NEVER buffed for less than 1000. My range is 1000 to 3050.. and that's with a 110 med droid and +25 wound treatment clothing.
Some days I will buff somebody for 2000+ for all 6 stats.
Some days I will buff for 1200-1400 for all stats but 1.
Once a blue moon I will do a 3000+ (read maybe once per 50 buffs)
I never use medical centres, and I am always away from other medical droids.
I'll try and do a test one day on somebody with bad BF, bad wounds, wearing heavy composite armor... and see if my experiences remain consistant....
Let me start off by saying im a new aspiring doctor who has begun his first set of enhancing. After reading this thread I think that people have a weird view of "enhancing" stats as being a "normal" procedure. Were like building Frankenstein here, or look at what happened to Dr. Jeckle when he played with such things. This procedure is anything but "normal". You can not expect, even for a master, that attempting to quadruple someones health is not going to carry some risk or variation. This is more a mad science, than standard science, so be glad that we have the ability and that the range can be so profound. If a player you buff complains explain it is what it is, its a risky procedure and can carry a large variation. I hope for one they leave it be, I dont want it to be a cookie cutter thing. I like the above doctors mention about gambling in regards to our profession, because that is exactly what this enhancing should be. Look at the flip side, were fairly lucky they dont have critical fails on such things like this, could you imagine us taking patients to 1 health instead of 4000. That really would mirror better how risky such things should be. Be careful when you complain about things as the fixes tend to make them worse. Its not broken, and please dont break it, err I mean fix it.
what strength are your buff packs that you're getting 3600?
I'm using 878 and I'm getting 3237 as my highest
