Nice point.

I don't wear my title in any dungeon, and your reasoning is why.

I see all sorts of titles in any given dungeon at any given time. Does this give me the right to ask a weaponsmith for a new weapon? An armoursmith to replace or repair my armour? Pester a Chef to provide me with brandy/canape/etc because they can? How about send tells over and over to an architech or tailor because I simply HAVE to have something. No. Nor should it give anyone the right todo that tome. Sending a tell if I am in your group asking me to rez I will do my best. Sending me a tell and repeatedly harassing me because I say no I cannot do something is griefing and wrong. Condoning it because I "wear the title" only shows ignorance.

As for the 5% when I dont wear it.. its because Im afk.

I think I am failing to seesomethinghere? Why harass somoeone to come rez you (especially when they have told you no?) Last time I checked (and Im pretty sure it was quite recent.. this morning in fact) a) its a game. b) the worst that anyone can befall in this game is a trip to the cloner where you dont lose anything, just decay a bit if its not a pvp death. c) even if you clone you dont lose any experience and/or items/money.. just wound your pride a bit because you werent the terminator you thought you were.

In any event is thatworth harassing another player and ruining their game play, regardless of what title they choose to show or not?

We've concluded that the harrassing that these players are doing is unfortunate and wrong. My point is simply: You know that these annoying people exist so why do you invite their torture by leaving the tag up when you intend on telling them no?

I guess the big issue is are you:

1) Just wearing your tag because you are so proud to have earned the title but have no intentions of helping out ANYONE in the vicinity unless maybe they are within your group. Or....

2) Willing to help those that may cross your path in dire need if they agree to pay for services but may be unwilling to help someone whio is in a very dangerous area or perhaps a little too far out of your way to lose time trying to reach them?

If you are #1 I feel no sympathy for you and relish in the thought of you being bombarded by /tells from smacktards.

However if you are #2 I sympathize with you completly and acknowledge that it is not always practicle for you to drop what you are currently engaged in to help someone who has either placed themselves in a very precarious situation or are just two removed from your location to make it viable to reach them.

In response to your remarks about other crafting professions...You do have every right to ask them if they can provide you with what you require. However, I've established that there is a big difference between the services rendered from A PURE crafting profession vs that of a doctor. If I were in a dungeon and someone asked me for a weapon/armor/food I would gladly give them the waypoint to my nearest vendor. If I had oneof what they requested, if we were in a safe enough environment I would sell them what they needed however likely at a more inflated rate. As a doctor you cannot do the same becauseyour vendor is useless to them asthey cannot administer the items themselves.

When I wear my doctor title, I do expect to get tells and I don't have a problem with that. It's just sad how rude people can be if you aren't doing what they think you should be doing. The ones that are nice about it, I have no problems with whatsoever.

I'm sure this would be surprising informatio to all the doctors that sell their products on vendors....you know, just like all the other crafters do. Here's a piece of info for you that you seem to have missed. Not all doctors buff people for a living.

If you read my post carefully I did address this. The part where I say, "Now if you only SELL buffs to other doctors than your business will run much like a crafter" Ok, so one of these docs is unlikely to have buffs and rez kits on them, right? Presumably they are all on their vendor? Ok, you have a nice little conveniant excuse why you can't help someone out. And although you aren't REALLY a doctor you just like to wear the title. Cuz as the title implies doctors help people but you don't. You are a PHARMACUTICAL supplier. Perhaps that title should be added under the Doc line.

I'll wear whatever title I want to wear when I want to wear it. Wearing the MD title does NOT require me to be your personal buff **edit**. I'll buff people when I feel like it, not when you feel like it. You don't like that then you're perfectly welcome to go find another doctor.

You're right, you can wear what ever title you want. Wether or not your actions deserve it or not. You, my friend, I would say are NOT a doctor. Despite what grinding you've put forth and how much time you spend creating medical items anyone who would refuse service to someone in need when they can easily help them and STILL insist on flaunting the title is NOT indeed a Master Doctor.More like Self Absorbed. But I submit....it IS your right to wear whatever title is avaiable to you. But I do hope infact that your clients will indeed "go find another doctor."

I would have to disagree jcow79. I think anyone who is able to don a title is free to do so without being ethically forced into doing anything. I used to wear my master doctor title because I was proud of being a master doc. The general community has turned it into meaning "I will buff you, heal you, cure you, and resuscitate you for free!"

This is similar to saying to someone with the Architect tag up "You have to make me my PA Hall right now." Doctors are as obligated to perform their class function as much as a squad leader or other profession is. And that is doing what the person behind the avatar wants to do.

/agree

I wear my title 95% of the time. I love being a doctor. I love being able to give additional support with the group Im with by giving heal orrez on long hunting trips or while at some dungeon. I actually enjoy the crafting process. What I dont like is the presumption that it is "my job", the tells harassing because I told them "no" they couldnt get an enhancement, or my favourite "I dont have 10k for the buff, how about 4k."

However, its not my job to heal. Its my choice. Whether or not I am sporting the title I worked so hard forit is still my choice.

Yeah, because so many doctors in real life go around healing ppl for free when they are not at the office.

Life saving is one matter irl, not when you can clone.

LordOfFatness,

Yes indeed the rudeness you experience is unfortunate an uncalled for. Just keep in mind it's a deperate reaction from the frustration of knowing that help is within reach yet unwilling/unable to help you. It's SOOO much worse to die knowing help was nearby than just dying out of reach of any doctors. It's really not hard to drop that doc title while you're in a dungeon. Feel free to bring it back as soon as you've left. It'll will save both yourself and others nearby a lot of grief.

Whatever. Nine times out of ten people want all but buff services done for free.

Two situations:

1. If you dont want to be hounded with tells, take off the title. You cant stop people from sending tells, if you have your title on and are searchable, its going to happen whether you like it or not. If you are complaining about people sending you tell when you have your title on, your a moron.

2. If you are complaining about people wanting buffs nownownow, or expecting you to go out of your way to rez people, or if you have a MD title on in a dungeon and you MUST do this and if you dont want to then you have to take your title off, and your pissed, rightfully so. You can send me a tell if i have my MD title on and ask, but if i say no, tuff sh*t, dont get all huffy and complain why i have my title on.
