It should be just like a master dancer or musician buff and double the original stats. The quality of the buff would only affect the duration that the buff lasts. Piece o' cake, end o' story. Then it would actually matter once again what your stat mix is. *gasp!* =)

Knocky- I definently didnt come here to rub anyones nose in anything.

I just wanted to see where all the forum docs heads were in regard to the upcoming changes. I have gotten a very very clear picture of that now. Lets just say its very dark there... Seriously guys, you would serve yourself better to lose the elitest attitude. Its not necesary. I was just trying to open some interesting dialog. Thats not really possible here tho i see so ill kindly tip toe back out the door. And no i wont let it hit me on the way out.

Then perhaps the requirements to make the Buffs need to be slacked a bit so its more fair. The bottom line is that buffs at present are having too drastic and effective impact on the game, thats what im gathering from dev statements at least. So i dont think the answer would be to keep them as is or better just cuz they are hard to make, thats backwards thinking. Fix them on the crafting side so that they can be balanced on the user side. Besides guys, do you have any idea how many itens in this game are a pain in the neck to make and have no real use (ie; master architect furniture, loads of high end tailor goods, etc, etc). I just think folks need to look at the big picture more and focus less on them just wanting super mega leet planet shattering stats on their toon for selfish reasons.

I know this isnt a popular topic but its something that needs to be addressed asap cuz the nerfbat is coming... =/

This assumes that I want the buffs to stay as they are. For the betterment of the game, I know they need to be changed and agree with changing them.

But to make them the exact same as the Musician/Dancer buffs is NOT fair to the Doctor Profession nor is it in any way balanced. Reducing resource requirements is one idea that can be looked at, but this isn't the only way to make the changes nor is it the 'best' way.

It's not so 'simple' really...simplistic perhaps, simple no.

As for the elitist attitudes comment, until you've walked a mile in a Docs shoes and know the profession inside and out like most of us do, you've really no place to come in here and tell us what should become of us just because you think it's a good idea.

Statements such as:

"I just think folks need to look at the big picture more and focus less on them just wanting super mega leet planet shattering stats on their toon for selfish reasons."

Show that you have no idea what it means to be a Doctor, nor any idea of the issues involved with the profession.

THAT is why you got treated the way you did.

Skuzz, since the Chef's recieved the Devs love, it has made them very popular. Thus now many chefs are very rich ones.

Your on Lowca, look at the cpu offerwar for the current dathomir Insect meat, driven mostly by Chefs! You guys need that much for your vercupti??

BE need that for pets stims (specific planet named resource) and CM (named resource) need it to craft disease.

Chefs can make a drink to buff the health/action pools like Brandy, which anyone can consume without skill.

*whew* Ok, Here are my reasons why Skuzz is wrong:

Going into hyper game geek mode... Please forgive me.

Doctor buffs are drugs, giving a chemical-physiological boost to the user. It would be natural to expect that those drugs would give much more of an effect to the end user than merely watching or listening passively to an entertainer.

Does that make any sense or am I just smoking crack again?

vert, i appreciate your passion, seriously i do, but its misdirected at me. The comment you so promimently displayed about folks being addicted to buffs for leet stats WASNT EVEN DIRECTED TOWARDS DOCTORS. It was for those the doctors buff. Big difference there. But i can see its pointless discussing this stuff here with you folks. Ill just wait to see what the devs brew up for the changes like everyone else i suppose. Someone send me a Pm if you ever decide to get rational about this tho, theres some interesting possibilities for how the buffs could be altered/simplified and it could be a fun one to explore.

Uhm, this isn't me being 'passionate'. Nor is it me in any way getting riled up at you.

This is my normal posting style, man. You ain't seen 'passionate' posting from me yet

If you want to discuss changes, then discuss them. But to throw out an idea and say 'this is how it should be' isn't asking for a discussion. It's a statement of what you think is the 'best' way to handle the change. And it was summarily dismissed by those who know the profession and realize that your 'best' way to handle the change actually isn't.

If you want a discussion, then start a discussion.

/carefully pokes head back in room...

Thanks for the reply vort. My first post here started with me saying "here's my 2 cents on how this could be", and that didnt go over too well. I think i got everything but "Kill the heretic!!!" lol, seriously tho, i think i'll cut my losses and head elsewhere where discussion is more likely to be had.

/tips hat to all the docs and wishes them well with the coming changes...

This has been brought up many times, and discussed in detail. Texxie already pointed out the biggest problem with making Doc buffs equal to entertainer buffs in that we have to craft ours, and the resources aren't exactly easy to come by. Changing the schematics to use more common resources doesn't take away from the fact that doc buffs are crafted and entertainer buffs aren't. There is an investment on the part of doctors in the form of time and resources before we even start applying the buffs. That is on top of the skill point cost (34 more points than a master dancer or musician, btw). We also have to apply our buffs to one person at a time. Even though dancer/musician buffs take longer to apply, when only applied to one person, they have the ability to buff entire groups at once.

We are not trying to deny that buffs need to be changed. we're just trying to point out why doc buffs shouldn't be lumped in with entertainer buffs. As for your comparison to chef crafting - chef is a pure crafting profession, doctor isn't. I have a master armorsmith on TC. Doc crafting is a TON easier than armor, but crafting the item is only the beginning for a doc. Our products cannot be used by the masses, only by other docs (and medics in the cases of stims and woundpacks). In essence, we only make things for ourselves. The bulk of our profession is about healing, not crafting.

We're not being elitist. We're not even rejecting your desire for a discussion. It's just that we have an in-depth knowledge of our profession, and used it to point out the holes in your idea.

This guy equals one word - Idiot!

How about this....While your add it - Make all weapons do the same amount of damage and have the specials for each profession have the same damage multiplier to keep that balanced....

Or how about this one - All weaponsmiths and armorsmiths can only craft the same exact items with exactly the same damage and %'s stats and quality of resources only afftect the condition.

I should give you the benefit of the doubt since accourding to your avator your just a big ol harry fur ball - but man....wake up for a min and realize how stupid your suggestion sounds...

Rolassk, I can see you arent willing to budge on your feelings about this. I can respect that. But you can throw numbers, examples or comparisons all you want bro, its NOT going to change the fact that buffs and armor are geting nerfed very soon. So you might as well start trying to think ahead and being constructive. You are struggling against inevitability my friend.
