Thread: adrenaline boost not wanted?
AB works great. I'm a high-SAC profession, and I still use it all the time. The difficulty is that you need to manage your action a little better with it. Many people are not able/ do not wantto do that.
I had a few people refuse the AB for a bit, until they saw how much faster everyone around them was. Now they're all addicted.
It doesn't increase the SAC or anything. But if you're spamming specials, you'll burn thrugh your action in no time.

Perhaps those folks just need a little education.
Ignoring health and mind for a moment,
In any fight you will either be attack speed limited or action regen rate limited. It is far better to be action regen rate limited than attack speed limited.
Think of it this way. You have a bath tub you are filling (action pool). You are taking cups of water (attacks) out of the bath tub to put out a fire in the kitchen (killing the mob). You want to put out the fire as quickly as you can so it does not catch the house on fire (kill the mob before it kills you).
Now assume the faucet on the bath tub is fixed to fill it at a steady rate. To put out the fire the goal would be to grab all the water you can as quickly as you can. You would not want to slow you rate of taking water out of the tub so that the tub always stays full. You would want to grab cups as soon as they could be filled. If you saw that your tub was running out of water you would do what you could to increase the rate at which it was filling (ie eat some food/spice/buff).

I had the very different experiance...pvp last night in theed everyone wanted a speed buff..full temp jedi and regs....I like it..I think one of the better things in the doc tree
No one said it was bad....just sometimes it does more harm then good.
I awlways have a speed buff before I go don the webweaver trail looking for my mark, It's the only way I can kill them before they get to the brideg
There is no downside to the speed buff that I know of. If it is draining your action pool too fast that is your own fault. Either get a lower SAC weapon, but some SAC power-ups, or time your shots slower (or used ranged/placed as someone above mentioned) instead of spamming. Then at least you will have the speed when you need it.
I can understand if you're just sitting there spamming dervish not really paying attention and you want the artificial cap. But in any real combat it is always better to have the buff than not.
LOL, I love this, I pvp alot and im almost the only doc in the 3 groups we have, and all I hear is , "hey Matt, I need a AB". They're like hooked on it or something. I wish they made it last longer.

I told him yeah but its increasing your attack rate ,your DPS. He told me in a long fight against multiple mobs adrenaline boost can get him killed. I watched his action with AB and without and he was right it was plumetting much faster with AB on. After this i asked "anyone else not want AB?" and 3 more people asked me not to give it to them. Kind of disapointing as i thought this was the best thing a master doc could contribute. with me i always fight with AB on but i dont use as much action as some classes. High action classes do not like it it seems. From now on I'll always ask first
People are not used to have +40 combat speed all of the sudden and drain their action way too fast because they keep spamming their high-cost specials.
Faster attack speed means less time in-between attacks to regain action. So if they can fire 10 shots and regen action for 1 shot without AB, they now might only regen action for 0.5 shot with AB. Some people are not used to adapt their combat actions to their action / mind level and always try to spam their high-drain attacks because they think they can do more damage.
Example:
A rifleman usually alternates between Head Shot and Ranged Shot. He can do that for a long time since Ranged Shot does not take a lot of action, and over the cycle of the two attacks, the action regen almost equals one Head Shot, so the overall action level will drop very slowly.
If that rifleman now gets an AB and uses the same attacks, the action regen over the cycle is way less than one Head Shot needs (since there is less time to regen in), so by spamming the same attack cycle the rifleman ends up doing less total damage because he cannot do as much Head Shot / Ranged Shot combos before running out of action as before.
If the rifleman adapts and alternates between Ranged Shot / Placed Shot, he will do less damage per shot, but is able to run that attack combo forever, doing more total damage in the same timeframe the original Head Shot / Ranged Shot combo without AB needs.
If you give an AB buff, you also need to give an action regen buff. On high-SAC weapons the action buff will not make up for the action that is not regained between shots because of higher attack speeds, so to be able to use the same combos as without AB, one needs AB, action regen buff and action regen food.
