Thread: To docs who think we should charge 10k minimum for buffs

luckily on eclipse theres no 10k greedy docs like seemingly most of you are
going price is 6k for pretty much every doc ive ever asked for buffs or seen buffing
if you ask for more than 6k you better have 900 power 12k+duration packs or your just ripping the guy off
i spit at some beeps who use like 800 or less power packs and ask for 6k for a set, not worth it
I charged the rolling scale (0-999 free, 1000-1999 1k, etc.) outside Coronet Starport last night on Eclipse server for a good few hours and had masses of business and quite a few repeat customers. This is even though there was another Master Doctor buffing for 6k and a low level Doctor buffing for free for the XP.
I am not yet a Master Doctor, as mentioned above, and I tell customers this before they buy but I have spent well over 200k on BE clothing, another 20k on a good droid and spent probably about 10k on tickets travelling around to get the best Enhance D's I can find on top of the cost of the packs. Considering most higher level combat classes can recoup the average cost (8k-10k) of a full set of my buffs from one kill mission I don't think I'm ripping anyone off, especially given the only reason I do this is to make money (I capped my Medic XP a long time ago) and it means I have to sit in one spot doing nothing else but hawking for business.
I also give discounts to repeat customers (usually 1k off) and I only ask for 5k if I buff all stats below 2000 points (don't you just hate it when that happens).
i wouldnt mind paying 10k for buffs or even 20k for that matter
but the thing is the buffs better be at that scale too! if id get a guaranted 2000-3000 or above per stat id pay 20k for it nodoubt but it rarely happens
soif a doc asks the payment upfront, 10k is a rip off, 5-6k is fair.BUT if you have a pricing depeding on the results id see some reason in it
800power 8000sec dura packs doesnt cost much, ive seen vendors stackedwith911power 14k dura packs which make a huge difference in the result, such guys using packs like that are more than rightful to ask 10k for a set
hate this topic anyway.. its not bout the price of the "buff" but the price vs "quality" of the buff
Docs always say, oh dang you had bad luck (ifthey give mea under 1k or around 1k for one stat)
its not my luck only but itstheir packs and theor luck also, smugglers dont ask a price upfront! end result determines the price
Docs who i know make the best money, give good average buffs around 2000 and ask for only 6k, but since they do so, pretty much most of their regulars pay em much more than that 6k since they see the doc aint a greedy **edit** asking way over thegoing priceusing crappy packs
makes the costumer feel better bout emselves

I think that this is often mi-understood. Just because a Doctors packs aren't UBER doesn't mean they are crappy. I would understand if someone was misrepresenting themselves and actually buffing with A-B-Cs and charging 10k or more, but even then Cs are pretty good. People have become spoiled and most only want MD buffs. A Doctor can use the absolute BEST resources available to them and have not-so-UBER results. (there was a thread about this last night) Does that mean we should bow out of the market? NO WAY! We still offer a service people want. There was still a lot of time and effort put into creating that pack. So what if the quality isn't up to your "par" it's a buff that people are willing to pay for.
Now to get Docs making lesser packs (B-C)... hehe
Rex you by far are the most delusional here... standing in the welfare line? Oh great economics professor please impart on me some portion ofyour knowledge.
I dont need you to explain anything to me.. you have no idea yourself how the whole system works anyways. I am infact a Doc.. and apparently a much better one than you if I can make much more money charging so much less...
Meenah.. why am I a moron because Im just shedding light on this subject? Because I go against the grain... Im sorry if I took off my sheep's clothing and quit folowing just what everone else did...
I think the bottom line here is just charge whatever in the heck you want to charge and don't critisize someone else for charging what they charge. The reason for this is because just like in any economy it will work itself out one way or another. If we are TRULY charging too much then people will eventually quit coming to us and will run around the galaxy for 2 hours looking to save 5k. I don't really think there is anything to be lost from charging too little except for those people who truly believe that you get what you pay for (which is never the case for buffs becase even with UBER packs you can and will sometimes get a bad roll).
To make a really, really long story short, just charge what is appropriate for you. If you are going to stand at the starport and advertise about your buffs, then yes, you probably should charge a bit less. If you are just running around with your master doc tag on not really advertising and someone sends you a tell asking for a buff, then you can charge whatever you jolly well please. I don't honestly believe that I'm going to be losing a lot of money just because you are charging 4k for your buffs.. Hell, I havn't lost any yet!
Exactly right, Never listen to anyone else telling you how to run your own business. Work for your customer, do what is in thier interests, and they will come back to you.
If you ahve too much business to keep up, i tis time to raise your prices. But for godness sake dont listen to others telling what your prices should be.
if you want to give away your time and make 3k for it... by all means knock yourself out.
I will be happy to pay you the 3k for d's that last 3 hours.
If you want to charge 20k for a full set of the same buffs and I "want" them I will be happy and pay it.
People will pay for what they want for quality buffs. If its not worth it they wont pay.
Do Master Doc's pay 10cu 15cu or even 25cu for good avain... You bet ya.... why?!!! Because its worth it and you "want" it.
Why dont you pay 100cu for avain? Because you dont believe its worth it...
The world is full of complainers... your price is to high, the quality sucks, it doesnt last long enough, your an imp, your a reb or whatever.
What you have to understand is that you cant make every one happy... so just make yourself happy.
If you want to charge 3k fine... I charge 10k normally... If I am busy hunting... I charge more.... If I have to wait for a shuttle because you "have to have a buff"... then your going to pay alot more.
And you know what "I" am happy charging that.
I value my time playing because I dont get enough of it. I dont play the game for the thrill of buffing others but if you do enjoy yourself.
Oh and if you want to complain that I charge too much... dont buy them and go away. It gives me more time to buff all those other people standing in line.
With people charging 333 cpu for avian meat I think 10k for a full buff is pretty cheap
Thats your problem. I was buffing my PA for free too and I was always going broke. (we have 100+ pa and I am the ONLY DOC so i was going threw alot of packs). Well I started charging my guild 5k a buff and the other people 10k a buff. Needless to say I have a few million now =D.
I do this also, the only time buffs are free is when I am grouped with my PA, if there are non-PA members, they have to pay.

but smugglers also are holding your equipment, no pay, no get back. with buffs if you dont get paid up front they can just split if they are asshats.
Im not master yet, im 4440. I charge 8k per set cause i know i cant get the same results as a master, if i get one below 1k, ill tip some back.
On Bria on the advanced planets the going rate for master buff is usually 10k. even with not being a master i still usually get tipped 10k, my range for buffs is between 1500-2700. ive never had a complaint on the amount i charge for my buffs and everyone is very nice. once i hit master ill bump the price upto 10k per set.
