It is not even like the combat balance effects just combats. The inbalanced combat generated inbalanced crafting aswell. Unless you are into makeing unbalanced weapons armor and so on. Without it most dungeons are redundant and dull. Teamplay is dead faction fighting is dead. The economy keeps spiraling outwards. It now costs a million credits for a decent composite armor. This patch is supposed to fix so much. The game is rolling down the tracks at ever increaseing inbalance, and eventually it will jump the tracks. For gods sake its better to sell weapons grade materials to grinders then to make weapons out of it. For god sake devs. We are in serious god damned trouble. A few show and tells will not save what is about to completely fail.

This game might not even be here for jtl at the rate **edit** is going bad.

Unbelievable.

You take a dev team that is working on a product i am paying for, and say sorry! they are now working on something that other people want.

Check the dates on most of the members posting here. We're year-long subscribers who've been lied to and abused as a customer base.

Shove your ridicule and pretense up your newbie ass.

Yep. I sure hope you have played longer than your forum registration date. Otherwise, you really have no concept of what the rest of us have been through since beta 3.

I think Bambal is just pointing out what alot of us know, and have come to accept about MMOG forums. My personal experience comes from playing Ultima Online (from launch, yes thank you for the condolences just send money...), Everquest from beta, SWG two weeks into launch (HAH! I learned that lesson!) et al.

Thefact beingthat the people that hang on the boards and have post counts into the thousands *never* represent the playerbase appropriately. Most of the posters here were beta testers, profession advocates/correspondents and have a very personal interest in the direction of the game as well as a love of public discussion ala forums, and I totally respect that. But when considering the complete subcribing base, we are a very low portion of the playerbase. Do you really think the 7k+ respondents to the recent Known/Mysterious forum questionnaire is a good sample of everyone that has an acctive account or is playing?? Heck, I don't gamble but I'd wager some of these new posters to the forums are newbs who were motivated by guildmates and friends in-game to create accounts in order to increase the post count and volume. In Everquest for instance, when some of the earliest nerf's were unleashed onto the community, the backlash would have made this thread pale in comparison. You would have thought with a March or whatever launch EQ had in 99, that it would not have lived until the end of the year with all of the people canceling acccounts. And guess what? Of all the threatened cancellations, EQ continued to thrive and to this day is probably one of the most subscribed to MMORPG's in existence.

Heck, I talk to guildmates that never knew there were forums in the first place and are too busy playing to check them out anyway.

At the very least, these boards are a chance for us all to get our opinions out and vent a little (or a lot as in the case of this thread) and rub shoulders with the people working in the 'trenches' of a particular game.

I'm sorry so many are disappointed enough and feel ripped off bad enough to actually cancel accounts. I mean, look at my professions since last summer, Master BH, Pistoleer, and picked up Master CH a month or so back just because I wanted to try it out. If anyone has something to gripe about I'd certainly be entitled by the standards set thus far by other veteran account holders.

I, for one, am having a blast still and wish youfolks could be too.

Ah well, I hope it works out for everyone even if it means trying other stuff for awhile - may the force be with you!

Finally, taking all the experienced devs off the live game and shifting them to JTL has come back to bite you in the a$$.

I signed up for SWG to play an MMORPG. In case you've forgotten, that stands for "massively multiplayer online role playing game." Note that nowhere in MMORPG is there an option for "twitch-based flight sim." Yet that's what you're handing us with JTL, and not only that, but shafting the base game to do it.

I cry foul. I couldn't care two figs about JTL, but the combat balance, profession revamps, bug fixes, these mean something to me. I was never planning to buy JTL and I still won't. Only difference now is, I will think seriously about cancelling my SWG accounts to play something else.

Alright I have the best answer that can be come political!

Q-3P0 = Bush

Thunderheart = Kerry

Jessea = Nader.

Bush leaves office.

Kerry screws it up.

We cry for impeachment.

Nader takes office.

Speaking of Government, who wants to send 10000 complaints to the FCC?

And call up all the Video Game Magazines to tell them to come read this stuff?

Who wants to go have a "peaceful" rally out side SWG head quarters?

First of all, I'd like to point out I agree with all of you complaining, I haven't been playing SWG as long as any of you, but I've been playing planetside since before it shipped retail, we were fed the same lies for, I'm going to say 10 months, after they had released Planetside Core Combat (That expansion sucked big time, you should read the feedback for that, and that took priority over how horifically unbalanced the game was). It didn't matter what they did, we could whine, we could even use figures to back everything up so even a 2 year old would understand what to do, but, no, SOE drags on, thinking about their walet and ot their community. Compare ANY SOE mmog to any other company, take EVE online, ok, they've had their delays, but they delay new content which is not vital, and they adress first what the community wants or needs, for example balancing, and the team on that practically volounteer for their job, they have a smaller team yet seem more effecient.

So overall guys, unless you can find a way to make SOE realise they will loose more money doing this than they gain, they aren't changing their minds.

I agree. If jedi was a huge part of the star wars experience, we wouldn't be in this time line of the SW universe but rather back when the Jedi Council still existed prior to or during the clone wars.

the team will be regrouped after JTL is released?

You know i find this hard to believe based on the current state of affairs and broken promises...I look at it this way, let's say JTL is finished and the team IS regrouped to finally after all this time fix SWG:ED, who is going to be fixing the MASS AMOUNT OF BUGS on JTL? And conversly, if the team is focusing on fixing all the problems with JTL, then those of of still playing the ground based game are STILL left in the cold.

why aren't there TWO teams? One to support THIS GAME, and another to develop and support THAT GAME?!?!?!

Everyone listnen. JTL is already in motion. It's been prepairing for as long as the game has been out. If you look at it that way people, including myself, have been waiting for longer than your Combat Balance. I personaly would like to have seen the PLANETS I WAS PROMISED SINCE DAY 1. Yeah maybe some of you don't remember, or maybe aren'r old enough to, but we were told that they would give us new planets to go to, free ones at that. After hearing that there wouldn't be any planets in JTL I was heart broken. I still say that the next expansion should be Corasant.

But I digress. When I heard of the horrific news I wanted to go on and give TH and Q a piece of my mind, but i held back. I knew I could wait til after they were done with JTL to bring it up. Knew that planets are big and would take a lot of man power to do it.

Now not everyone wanted planets as much as the combat balance but it's the same issue. JTL is being worked on. It has the programmers divided. We have all shown great patience waiting for what we so sorely desire. Please, if you leave we all will lose the one shining hope we have. Does no one here care about Star Wars enough to fight through this.

My suggestion is this. Don't give them what they want. If you believe that the man (Not TH, hes a good guy and only a messenger) wants money. If you believe that's why JTL is coming first. Then don't buy JTL until the Combat Balance is DONE. Start a petition thread saying so too. I would be more than willing to sign it and do it. I do want to go to space but I can wait until we get what we need over what we want.

Amen! I will NOT buy JTL until the combat balance is done!

This reminds me of a game I played before. It was Asheron's Call 2, the first was (and sorta of is) a great game and had a huge hype in its existant community. They had a game with AMAZING potential (I know, I've played it) but the game was so baren minus the grinding that it was boring... much like SWG is but I've been strung along by a bunch of promises in SWG unlike AC2.

I see the same thing happening right now. A game TURNING INTO a great game but ISN'T now. AC2 lost a large portion of its player base (pathetically... back to AC1) before it became what it is today which from what I heard is a pretty good game.

So a word to the wise after what I've seen today, get your act together ASAP, hire more people (even just temporarily) and get done with what you promised or your going to end up with a great game and empty servers. Even if this IS Star Wars... Great but much wasted potential. Even if it costs you more right now you'll more than make up for it when you get more customers on recommendation for a great game.

I'm not quiting or threatening, I'm just sharing some advice from what I've seen. Take it for what you will. When I'm sufficiently dissatisfied I will quit instead of complaining.

I hope you guys pull yourselves together.

Yeah, I daresay that the tree we're all barking up has been dead, chopped down, burned, fed into the chipper, and recycled into paper which will be used in an instruction manual on how NOT to manage game development.
