Thread: The Status of Battlefields
What we need is a PLANETARY Battlefield.....Hoth.
It doesnt need to be 15km by 15km...it could only be 4x4, or even just 3x3....It would consist of two Bases, ever changing as the players add onto it, the Echo base, forthe rebels, would have a star port to land down in, and the imperial base, set up to counter the Echo Base, also with a star port. You would pick which starport to go to, and that would determine what side your fighting for (unless your a reb or neutral.) The Rebelscould set up shield generators, turrets, walls etc, and the Imperials can aswell, but for a very heafty Faction Point fee, they can call out AT-ATs...stipulations, only 4 at-ats may be on the battlefield at a given time. Not only would this planet give a major Star wars feel to it, but it will also completely revolutionize Rebel vs Imperial battles.
How about 2 VERY Very big Battlefields /imp vs Rebell instead off all those little ones noones ever goes
This would be for the people out there couse they now that there will allways be action .
-High NPC spawn rate
-If you but HQ inside a Bf pls make walls so strong that you have to shoot about 15 min in a group with 20 man
-Lower Costs for BF structure *makes more war*
-New sounds inside BF would be great
-Mayor tasks that spawn later in war like a ATAT
-Good Defens for both sides at starting *player could close and open doors or gates*
would be nice if you enter then have 10 min where you cant leave your base in that time you make plans
-If its a big Bf you could let story let take place there like 10 diff battels
-Biger BF *did i say that *
-If a player dies he warps into a Dead Zone where all dead players are . They can talk there but not attack there. Like a waiting room*with Bf info inside*
-If someone dies he goes there for 5min
-a Battle schould take about 2 -3hr
-How about a BF city make a city with walls around and let fight imps and rebs about it * brainstorming* or Creat one BF planet *lol* then all your props are gone heheh
Well for inspiration on what battlefields and even the GCW as a whole could be like, look at Battlefront. An upcoming Lucasarts release http://www.lucasarts.com/games/swbattlefront/. If the GCW was even remotely like BF, the subscriber rate would probably double if not triple. Some points at a glance:
- Most vehicles in the game will be pilotable, including the x-wing, y-wing, a-wing, tie fighter, tie intercepter, tie bomber, AT-AT, AT-ST and a variety of common ground and ground assault vehicles. Almost forgot (snow) speeders
- What can you do on a planet? Battle it out against players or AI (which will use strategy and tactics to win) for control. Hold that planet long enough as an Imperial and you can construct a Death Star which you will control - while I realise we won't get our own personal Death Star, it would be nice to see strategy and tactics implemented, so that you can use terrain as an advantage, as would the NPCs.
- Historic Battles: Re-write the battle of Hoth, Endor, etc... take command and do it your way! - could make battlefields real interesting
- Imperial Probe Droids can be commanded to call down orbital bombardments
