What they should do to the battlefield, is state that on _______ day at ______ coordinates, that Rebel Vs Imp battle is happening for ___ area or city, and that would lead into bigger battles, and more people involved in PvP. Give out more faction Xp for the battles to give people incentive to come, and Make ranking worth something, Anything in the battle. Set it so that if it is a big turnout, and there are alot of people in the fight, then let it effect the GCW. When people areincaped then send them to a place where they have to be heldfor a while b4 they can come back to thefight. And make the battle where u have to get a certain object or destroy something.IMO

All these battle planets you are describing is what SWG was *supposed* to be. Stuff like zones of control, PvP areas/planets... even stuff like outcasting.

The reality is that we still can't capture and control NPC bases, player bases are exploited to hell, vuln times change with every server reboot, clone center zerging reduces tactics and skill to brainless spam-your-special Quakefest and any battle of 20+ people basically crashes the landblock.

So what about battlefields?

I can't figure out if battlefields are the bas.tard red hairedstepbrother of what SWG's true zones of controlwere supposed to be.

I thought battlefields were a solution to my pet hate of brainless clone zerging. I dunno. I can't believe they are spending money on making vehicles pretty coloured when entire professions and GCW concepts and battlefields are all bugged or broken to hell.

If you ask me the battlefields should also include some urban fighting, when I look around on a PvP battlefield I only see the plains, nothing else.

Maybe there should also be something like a COMBAT ENGINEER, I read that something was being develloped at first but I don't see it anymore, so that they could place turrets and trenches. With which we could have more combat tactics, like a trench will give u more protection then sitting behind a bush.

If that could be implented it would be like a real battlefield.

this has been mentioned before and i totally agree...

-no decay in battlegrounds combat-

that along with..

-no penalty whatsoever for battlegrounds participation-

would make them the MOST enjoyable and the most playable.

oh and required buzz cuts for everyone that joins the imps just like the real army.

Well the last, and only, comment on the current situation was 16th January. Nothing since, not even a "We're still working on it " message.

The old battlefield area'sare still there, but I suspect we'll see them disappear soon.

I'm a bit disapointed, SOE have been rather good at communicating up till now, which leads me to think they haven't made any progress other than taking them down, probably because they were being exploited for FP's in some way.

I've not really gotten involved in the current PvP system, too much of a gank fest, with no real purpose other than FP accumulation and some d3Wd chest-beating.

SOE could do a lot worse than take a look at DAOC's RvR system. The advantages that can be gained from "Occupying" certain locations.. The advantages that individuals can be gained from your side "Winning" in the overall scheme of things.. They've got a good system going there.

To me, the Imp V Rebel Battleground could be darn good fun, but I fear SOE have abandoned them completely. At least, this is what the lack of word on these suggests. Wouldnt surprise me if we see this thread deleted at some point.

Ah well, back to my Droid Engineering...

I have always wanted this game to feel like the movies. As it stands, it does not.

Battleplanets could be a huge push foward in the effort to create that feeling. Just to run through the Imperial staging area would be awesome - TIEs lifting off or landing, Imperial Shuttles landing and unloading Stormies, then taking off, Star Destroyers low in the sky... bustling mouse droids rushing about, Imperial astromechs scurrying back and forth, and ATSTs standing gaurd.

Then you go into the "unsafe" zones - and it's completely unpredictable. A group of ATAT's comes up on the horizon, roaming the ENTIRE planet for Rebels, probe droids (imperial only) making scouting runs, even NPC speederbikes and scout troops dashing across the land. I want to FEEL like these battles are huge. I want to see the NPCs actually taking part - even if it's all pathed out - I want to see a massive effort on both sides - NPC and PC - in the "unsafe" worlds.

There could even be random attacks on the staging areas of the battle planets. Say, 2 ATATs start attacking the Rebel base, or a group of Rebel Tanks make a run on the Imperial column.

The planets themseves would be much smaller than the normal ones - that way it's more densely populated with PCs and NPCs.

But there you have Star Wars, in my opinion.

Battlefields are pointless. Really. They are. You guys shoved them into remote locations that nobody would dare travel to.

Not to mention the only PvP Ive ever seen is between Anchorhead and Bestine, perhaps you should create more adjacent Rebel and Imperial cities like this... infact, I beg you.

You stated that the team plans to heat up the GCW by adding new content to battlefields. I think this is a good idea, as currently, being either a Rebel or Imperial is more like a mercenary than a soldier. There isn't any real organization on either side in relation to specific attacks or actions. There are a few places where there is a small rebel outpost and there are countless Imperial NPC's attacking it. But for the most part, in order to gain Imp or Reb faction points is to be a mercenary. That is visit your local mission terminal, go out and assassinate some junior officers or storm troopers and return to the terminal to do it all over again.

Currently, there is no real feeling of the GCW. Sure there are a few crackdown patrols about, but you never see any faction armies that are ready for battle. The most faction NPC's I've seen in one place is at a TIE repair station on Corellia and it only has enough NPC's to support a company of men. Without this presence, it all just feels like the GCW is taking place in a galaxy far, far away.

What I propose is making the GCW personel for us. Drag us into it. Have each server run player organized high commands. Put in certain control points on all the planets that the HC's have to fight for. Make the HC's big and grand. Perhaps give them the power to draw up NPC armies to attack these control points. But make the training of armies and the production of war machines use certain resources that can be obtained by controlling certain control points. These control points would be the future battlefields.

Then keep track of certain statistics on which faction was in complete control of certain control points that would represent cities and such. These statistics would be used to give slight bonus's to the faction population like a reduced rate on faction perks, higher percentage faction points gained on missions, new faction perks, etc. That way there would be a good reason for all members of the faction to either join the army or help in the cause.

Put in some tactical strategy and you've just created a very immersive part of the game for a whole lot of people. Players would now join an actual army with a dedicated goal. There would now be a reason to try and make that next promotion. But I think that the players should have control over these decisions. High Commands would decide what control points to attack and when. How many soldiers would be sent. Where to allocate resources. What type of soldiers to train and what kinds of attack vehicles to manufacture.

There is tremendous depth here and it will draw people into the game and keep the people already here. Thanks for your time.
